To the Moderators -- since I'm still newbie -- not sure if this post should go in this section -- if not please help.
____________________________________________________________________________________
I saw a recent youtube program (sorry i forgot what it was but will post it here when i find it again), where a sound editor was interviewed and asked for his opinion on the best surround movies he's ever heard. By best -- meaning the sound editing and production in the movie is so good, that while watching the movie, it actually gives you the feeling that you're in the scene.
So his top five movies for best sound surround are:
1. Kung-fu Panda
2. Atlantis (the animated movie)
3. Master and Commander
4. The matrix
5. Blade
After watching this program, it actually made me want to get these movies on BD and experience them for myself. But now i'd like to here what our PDVD community has to say. What is your top 5 best surround movies? Please share.

TWISTER ( close your eyes on the twister scenes ... )
SAVING PRIVATE RYAN ( the opening battle scene still rocks )
BATTLESHIP
BATTLE LOS ANGELES
THE ECHO ( best discreet sounds for me )

Bro Mattia -- sobrang agree ako with Battle Los Angeles (just got this on BD). The bullets whizzing by are awesome. Managed to borrow Prvt Ryan from my brother but havent seen it yet -- na excite tuloy ako ma-experience based on your recommendation.
Another recommendation from me (personal) is the latest Tron movie. Galing ng effect of both music and sound effects on all your speakers. Surround workout sya. Another one is i-Robot which i just recently watched too. Sulit in experiencing that surround effect.
Thanks for the reply on the post!

For purely surround sound, you will have far more choices on DVD than blu-ray. But since you started the thread with blu-ray in mind, my list below is strictly just for blu-ray as well.

2) LOTR series
3) The Matrix
4) Saving Private Ryan
5) Master and Commander
Honorable mention: Tron Legacy, Jurassic Park, Star Wars Episode 4-6, Gladiator, Pirates of the Carribean series, The Others (good/disturbing sfx but is only best appreciated in a quiet environment), Battleship
-
Here's mine

5. The Fast and the Furious trilogy

All so far we're starting to see a sort of trend -- and it's really amusing. Let me tally the top 5:
Movie Votes
Saving Private Ryan 7
transformer 3 5
Master and Commander 3
Star Wars Ep. I (please correct me here) 3
Kung-fu Panda 2
Have fun finding these on BD and experiencing them for yourself.

Nice reference. But I'm interested in what folks in our PDVD community have experienced as opposed to outside sources (which I'm sure there are many). Yung satin lang ba.
But thanks for the reference!

i know, just would like to share how a larger forum has come up with a tier-based classification of how good audio tracks are based on years of voting and re-voting, where a movie might be previously top-notch but can be bumped to second-class status as better soundtracks come out. maybe we can start a similar thing as well if someone can keep track of the votes and rank them.
ultimately though, i'm waiting for this to come to fruition so that we can have a Demo Disc exclusive to PDVD members, featuring the best demo scenes as voted upon by our community members :)

Sounds like an excellent idea! Especially the prospect of getting a demo disc for PDVD folks only after we tally results. I'm open to ideas on how we can improve the voting.
Actually i didnt think it would end up as a voting list when i started the thread, but it seems like a good idea to do so, now that a few responses have come in and started trends. At first I thought it would just be a great reference for me to know what BD movies i should get based on community experience. I like where this is going! :)

A recent download I did, Olympus Is Down sounded awesome in 5.1, especially that scene with the gunship and its gatling guns. I recall it had some serious sub-woofing scenes as well.
