Post by: Photonyo on Sep 06, 2013 at 08:57 PM: Hello, been lurking here for quite some time now gathering info on speakers, room treatments to furnitures etc. Just finished my theater this September and im excited to share to you all my setup :)

Equipment list
Receiver: Using an old onkyo 75x7 amp (updated with Onkyo 616)
Speakers: Polk RTI A5 fronts, Csi A6 center, FXi6 rear surrounds, mordaunt Avant 903 bipole surrounds.
Sub: Generic 12" Updated with two SVS PB1000
Media Player: WDTV Live with 2x2TB. Updated to Mede8er 800X3D
PS3 as Bluray/audio player
Projector: Epson 3020
Screen: Elite 100" matte white
Pioneer BDP450 3D Bluray Player
Cables: MediaBridge
3 Seater got from Blims
2 seater Sigma brand for the 2nd row

onga po sir.. mas malaki pa sa master bedroom hehe buti na lang mahilig din sa movies si Misis :)
Theater dimension is 15fx24f nag mukang mas malaki than normal kasi Ultra wide angle lens gamit

Actualy sir balak ko Onkyo 626 pero iniisip ko din Emotiva :o yung gamit ko ngayong onkyo may Pre outs so pwede mag external amp.. problem ko lang is i need HDMI inputs and yung amp ko hangang Dolby Digital, DTS lang hindi pa True HD.. hmmm pwede din naman HDMI switch na lang ::) esep esep

Sir sa may Quezon City, Timog/Quezon ave area. our house is Between ABS-CBN and EDSA. less than 5min walk from QAve MRT :)

BTW just Bought MIB Trilogy Bluray gift set at HMR Cubao. Sobrang sulit sya for P1,290 $89 sa Amazon

yung worm figure wala ata talagang yosi.. kung yung figure lg bibilin sa site ang meron hehe

Pero as is, maganda na siya tumunog even without auto calibration. A classic example that we don't necessarily need auto calibration to sound good.

got also na a SVS Pb-1000 :) now alam ko na mga pinagsasabi nila na "gapang" ng sub.. nakaka adik yung gapang hehe saving up for another pb1000 :)

Hindi pala sya actualy generic Dyna Quest yung brand. (di lang ako familiar sa brand) hand me down lang kasi from my brother. gamitin ko na lang siya for videoke sa sala hehe :)

nung isa pa lang sya the volume of the sub is at 2-3 o clock. ngayon for the duals nasa 12 volume position and mas malakas pa din :) hindi na sya mahihirapan. yung cracked ceiling sa katabing room heheh buti na lang black ceiling ng theater hindi makikita cracks :)

Was actualy thinking of adding a sealed sub. SB1000 or SB12 pero no na hehe baka bumagsak na ceiling :) I'm happy with my setup.. Im happy with my setup ang mantra this week ::)

Hi Photonyo, What do the think of the 450 ? I have a Pioneer BDP-LX08 & just before I left the UK I bought a BDP 103 + a Darbee Darblett (the BDP 103D hadn't been released). It was packed immediately so haven't powered it up to compare the 2.

Hi Oldboyracer, I was also planning on getting the Oppo 103D but i wanted to apply the Darbee with all my devices so I ended up with the Pioneer 450 then in the future put the darbee at the HDMI out of my receiver so everything connected to the receiver gets the darbee treatment.

I now enjoy the TrueHD soundtrack of blurays since my Playstation didnt support that format. the sound is more crisp and punchy.

For picture i put the setting to "professional" meaning no alteration to the video signal. Compared to my PS3, there seems to be more detail with the 450.. with the PS3 the picture was a bit darker, with the 450 its more balanced i think which makes me think i see more detail.

Selling points of the Pioneer for me are
1. Load time is faster compared to Playstation
2. Chassis is bulky, I like to fill up my component rack :)
3. Half the price of the Oppo 103d but if i purchase the Darbee, price of the two would be similar.
(just waiting for the release of darbee 5100 so i can display on my rack)
4. This review also convinced me on getting the pioneer

Hi Photonyo, I bought my Darbee from my Oppo dealer & he said I would not see a lot of difference using Darbee with the Oppo. As I was leaving the UK decided to get it anyway, I'm sure I'll find a use for it, if not I'm sure one of the forum members would welcome it. The 450 will be a big improvement over a PS3 which is an OK BD spinner. IMO Pioneer video technology is among the best, I'm sure they didn't allow all their video development people to leave when they pulled out of the TV market. As you've found TrueHD makes a big difference to the viewing experience.
I'm surprised at the remote, all my Pioneer remotes I have found OK but I suppose again it's personal preference. At last someone else who favours the bulky gear to fill up the rack, my TV rack is a bit of a glass monster & seriously thinking of turning it into a HiFi rack with the TV on top. Now I'll be bi-amping the audio system I won't have enough space in the old one. It's always good to hear that a new purchase has made a difference. Hail the upgrade.

I would have saved money on a slimmer Pioneer BDP105 since i already have Qdeo up scaler on the receiver (thats the only thing i see diff from the 450) but like i said, I like a full rack ;D

Can't beat a full rack - it looks good. If I decide not to use the Darbee I'll let you know.

At 1st i thought it wont work since the 19" is 720p and the projector is 1080p. Jusy set auto resolutin at the receiver :)

yung receiver ko Onkyo 616 has 2 HDMI out so yun ginamit. HDMI splitter would work pero i dont know if it will work with 2 different resolutions.

Sir Nelson kakauwi ko lg nung Monday :) yung Sub EQ individual sila nag whomp whomp whomp :) still testing the outcome :)

nagka budget to buy the EQ kasi nag shooting dito yung tv show na Pepito Manoloto

Pwede din naman ata i-tweak yun EQ to your own calibration di ba? Sarap i-RTA na yan. Dapat mag-adjust ka din sa speaker distance to comsensate for the latency ng EQ processing.

Hindi kinunan yung theater eh.. ginamit lang as background yung starwars toys :) si Michael V and Freddie Web lang ang may scene.. baka napalabas na last weekend :) i missed it also kaya hanapin ko sa youtube :)

hindi ata tuneable yung SVS sub model ko and yung EQ hindi din pwede e tweak. maganda naman yung result.. may mga scenes na lumabas bass pero meron din mga humina or nawala :/
I guess this is the correct amount of bass that i need to get used to. I just miss some of the exaggerated ones :/

Yun distance niya for the sub is to get a better reading of the low end. Yun latency that i mentioned is for the time processing analog to digital (para ma EQ) then back to analog.

I did sir Mike kaso nag bo-bottom out yung isang PB1000.. sa isang scene lang naman, yung World war Z israel grenade scene :) eto kasi lagi kong demo scene. hininaan ko na lang konti yung Sub na yun.
before kasi naka -3 sub level ko.. now its at +2

actually what i miss is the vibrations in some scenes.. i'll try also removing the auralex gramma and see what happens ;)

will try to recalibrate uli when i get home. will be in Bohol this weekend kasi.

the first kick kasi is way below tuning, followed by sustained high level 25-35hz content. (notice that is where your previous peak was)

makes me want my old HT back (the one with the 4 pb13ultras)
it was designed specifically for something like this. one scene of one movie that i like, overall calibration is hot, but each sub is working less.

the Px12NSD handles this scene a lot better than the rest, maybe due to it's DSP/limiter design.

I got more of the vibrations i was looking for :)
Sub trim level set to +2 instead of -3.2 that was suggested
