i believe so too. it was not huge at the US box office but it made money. the total production cost was at $30M and the final box office results closed at $51M

But the income was great, like what happened to Blade 1.

i don't think so. i heard it used be on top of the box office. #1 for 2 consecutive weeks. ;)

personally, i thought the movie was pretty good ... in a "kindred" kind of way. i'd personally buy it... even if it "flopped".

p.s. "the abyss" and "austin powers" also didn't do well in ticket sales ... but made good in video rentals and home video sales. (thanks mostly to "word of mouth" recommendations.) ;D
