I was thinking of this before but the worry of how it would arrive and if broken upon arrival is way too much to think about for my part that I did not pursue this.

it's very risky and the warranty is void thus i would not dare it no matter how inexpensive it is. you are just looking for inconvenience.

There are those who bought from the US, wala naman tama yung units. I agree na medyo risky but the price difference is enticing.

lottery situation and that is not a nice situation to buy an expensive / high-end TV.

But instant talo ka naman to purchase the same model locally, if it's even available in the first place.  IMO, it's either siguradong gastos, or BAKA mas magastos.  The only thing certain is that ubod ng mahal to buy locally, unless i-dump like the VT30.   ;D

Of course kung masaya ka na sa local line-up, no need to bother about importing.  I think those who ponder on importing want the pretty high-end models, or the very huge screens.

i beliv sa pinas may mga high-end tv models na...such as the sammy's F8000 and the mighty F8500 and same goes for the other brand except the panasonic. i for one, i'm eyeing the 65F8000(189k) sa Sns den it has a 2yr. warranty. in the end for me it's a peace of mind. :D

nung binili ko tv ko naiisip ko yung price difference pero after awhile mas nangibabaw yung dito ko bilhin instead dahil sa warranty na rin
malaking bagay yung 2 years warranty as compared sa wala
malaking factor din yung 0% installment dito as compared sa full payment agad if binili abroad

i was quoted $450 for shipping a 60" LED to manila by forex. according to them marami na daw sila na ship without problem or issue. but, it is nice to hear from actual owners who have first hand experience.

better buy the Samsung 65F8000 at SnS. the price in amazon is $3298 + 8.75% sales tax + 450 shipping = halos pareho lang presyo locally.

I know of a friend of a friend who did purchase a TV abroad and had it shipped. This was like 3 years ago and everything is still working fine.

It would be nice to know of others who successfully ordered from the US and had it delivered here. I want to see how many still have a good working TV and how many had problems and if the TV is still usable.

Note: Another friend had been ordering in US for 10yrs+ now and having various items shipped seafreight. Not even 1 item had a problem. Wala lang ngang TV sa mga inorder nya but there were big items too as well as expensive ones like a Denon AVR receiver worth P50k+ etc etc. Madami ding expensive items. Pati din yata yung Panasonic projector worth P150k+ but still, no problem upto now.

Thing is, not even 1 item nagka problema. Worth taking the chance kaya? hmmmmm

The 65 inch F8500 was about $2500 at Frys when I saw it last weekend, ST60 at $1,500, VT60 about $2,300 while the ZT was nearly $3,000.  These are the level of models na makakamura ka than Manila prices (last August I think I saw the 8500 for over 200K sa SM - tama nga ba?).

Kung mainstream models, sa Pilipinas nalang.

As per Clondalkin - if im going after the 65F8500, sa US nasa $2500 (or roughly 115T plus shipping). Sa pinas its about 220T+

Ang layo ng price difference.

I got my Sony 40 inch HX800 from the U.S. $1,700 March 12, 2011 shipping cost $200 Johnny Air Cargo
Bought by my brother in law in New York. The big plus is my t.v. is 110 to 220 volts. and it works just fine.
There was a time it stayed on from 8 a.m. to 12 midnight. So far so good! :) My Toshiba dvd player was bought from Canada by my sister that was 2002 and it still works fine to this day. :)
