Title: partner's reaction to your hobby

hi guys,

how's your partner(s) reacting to your hobby of collecting dvds...ang misis ko minsan nagagalit coz mas alaga ko pa raw dvds ko kesa sa kanya..... ;D

My wife tells me na madamot daw ako at maige pa daw manood na lang sa moviehouse kasi I sometimes lock my dvd rack to avoid mishandling kaya di siya makanood pag wala ako. hehehe...... ;D
Isak-sak ko daw sa baga ko mga dvd's ko. :o

Ok lang sa kanya as long as pera ko ang pinambibili ko at hindi budget sa bahay.  Mabuti na sa DVD kesa sa babae....  ;D

and why they have to be protected with a sleeve  ;D

Wala, kasi di alam na me binili ako. After 2 months na lang niya makikita sa eskaparate at pag binati, ang sagot ko, "matagal na yan. noon ko pa binili yan."

My wife gave me 10 R-1 DVD's for Xmas (parang yung Xmas carol). She is supportive of my hobby.

My eyes (iris) must be flashing the DVD logo for a long time cuz she seems to have noticed what I so obviously wanted for Xmas (I didnt say or suggest anything) ;).

sir, congrats sa bago nyong baby & for a having a supportive wife :D.....my wifey has now learned to appreciate this hobby and been very supportive especially in preserving the shrink wraps on the box sets and putting protective tapes on the edges of digipaks..... ;D

Thanks Classicman! Its really great to be blessed with a supportive wife! We have been watching DVDs a lot before we got married, so its just a habit that we continue till now. Keeps us at home a lot with lots of bonding time.

I am actually more excited to be at home than going out cuz I look forward to watching DVD's in our HT.

my wife is very supportive and shares my enthsusiasm in collecting dvds & setting up an HT... since she has been on leave from work for quite some time now, she has watched more of our dvds than me... she also at times asks me to look for movies that she likes like Bridget Jones's Diary, Chicago, etc... I'm lucky that we both love movies... she even gave me the Star Wars Trilogy box set as a gift (ako bumili kay baby and sya nagbayad)  ;D

Ngayon sinasanay na namin ang aming newborn (5 days old) sa noise ng home theater. Buti na lang he is always asleep & di nagigising sa lakas ng mga palabas over these holidays.

Anyway, I am sure he must be used to it when he was in her mother's womb, with all those movies we watched.

Ok lang sa wife ko, pero ayaw nya pag may "violence" like KillBill, etc. yung nabibili ko.  Gusto nya yung mga drama and love stories, mga tipong sleepers ba.  So I have to contend to collecting some DVDs na hindi ko gusto!

My girl is very supportive and watches my DVDs when she has time. She even buys them for me. And when people borrow my DVDs and don't return them, she's the one who makes kulit.  ;D

hehe, oo nga, magandang pang-display ang dvds lalo na pag limited editions at maganda ang packaging. wala pa kasi akong display cabinet eh kaya nde pa nar-realize na magandang display  ::)

pinagtatawanan lang ako ng wife ko whenever i check my small collection. baka kasi may nanood at hindi naisoli ng maayos. supportive din sya sa dvdbisyo ko, she even gave me a Christmas gift starwars trilogy. pero tinutulugan nya pa rin any movie i watch. tapos ngayon ang kalaban ko sa panonood ay ang aming 10month old baby. gusto nya sesame dvd and barney vcds.

My girlfriend is very supportive of me on my hobby. Just recent, she suprised me with two collectable set mailed at my place on Christmas Eve via Fedex.. Its one of those life's moment that one is suprised because not only the love was felt Truely and suprisingly but also the proudness and flattery of a guy especially if the loved one provided her love and of the thing you collect.

buyahin natin ang thread na 'to & find out the current reactions of our partner(s) (or parents for the still unattached collectors) to this hobby..... :D

may nabago na ba after the lapse of sometime.....yung mga dating galit & ayaw sa bisyo natin nakumbinsi nyo na bang magustuhan na rin ito, or yung mga supportive dati umayaw na rin ba dahil sa gastos, hehehe ;D ;D ;D

Now after 10 months into the hobby (HT & DVDs), my wife is addicted to watching DVDs in our HT with me. Sometimes I dont plan to watch but sya pa nauna nag-yaya manuod ng DVD, gets me surprised.

my mom's okay with it....since i dont have any other vices.....started her with my vcd collecting, and when i got a dvd player in 2001 (courtesy of my boss), started collecting dvds... so when we bought a cabinet for a new tv, we bought one were the left side can be used for storing my vcds and the right side is a glass encased cabinet - which i am about to fill up na  ::)

but of course, to avoid her wrath.....i have to keep the tag receipts from her so she would not suspect how much it is....or since i often buy sa marketplace, she doesnt know how much it costs....hehehehehehe  >:D  besides, as long as im not knee deep in debt...she's fine with it.  ;D

still supportive up to now  ::)  nakikinood din naman eh. at pag dumarating ung box of orders sa bahay laging tinatnong kung bakit wala pa akong copy nung dvd  ;D  sabi nga ni keilu, hangga't nde baon sa utang  ;)  and still have an extra cash to save

Before my mom always scold me to buy groceries instead of dvds, kaya hayun pag may bitbit ako box from amazon, standard operating procedure that I should also have one plastic of grocery or one small bag of brewed coffee. Doble gastos!

Bribery hehehe...... :D

now she ask me if I bought any classic film like Gone With The Wind, Sound of Music, nanonood na din siya and she's waiting for those LVN flicks to be release on dvd.  ;D

My ex-gf before introduced me to those dvds of Meg Ryan, lugi ako because I lend to him my dvds of Renoir, Coppola, Peckinpah and Akira Kurosawa. She doesn't like those samurai flicks, that's why we broke up.  ;)  :D ;D

Oo nga eh! Ngayon I need to replace our Friends Seasons 1 to 3 na sa Astro ko lang nabili. She wants the R1 releases kasi maraming special features  :P pero tama din naman siya doon...  ;D

buhayin natin ulit ang thread na ito at kumustahin kung anu-ano na ngayon ang mga reaksyon ng mga partners ng pinoydvd members sa hobby natin :D......curious lang po, meron na ba nagkahiwalay na magsing-irog or nagpa-annul ng marriage dahil lang sa DVD collection, hehehe ;D ;D ;D

I've mellowed down with my dvd buying sprees so siyempre super supportive husband ko since I don't buy that often anymore  :)  I've learned to control myself kasi wala na kaming pera !!!!  ;D ;D ;D

same with miss diver, i kinda mellowed down with purchasing dvds... nowadays, mapabili lang ako dahil meron akong reward zone sa best buy or gift certificate from anywhere that sells dvds. ;D which is a great thing that happened to my life because i am broke like the others. ;D

just got married two weeks ago....before that..i did some serious upgrade....suicide kumbaga...and now, my wife imposed a HPO--HOLD PURCHASE ORDER.   :'( no more sars...no upgrades....temporary lang sana.  hehehe....im doing some dvd collecting naman through amazon.....di pa naman napapansin.....honeymoon stage....hehe. ;D ;D

my wife understands kasi alam nya na wala pa kong trabaho mahilig na ko pero siempre nung naging wife ko cya tsaka lang ako nag karoon ng stable job......pero sa tuwing tina tanong ko cya kung magada ang itsura ng gear na gusto kong bilin (kasi for wife's who dont understand the hobby ,looks lang naman ang gusto nila diba)ang lagi nyang sagot "HAY NAKU !!!WALANG PERA!!!!"ang gagawain ko bibilin ko na tapos sasabihin ko "hindi hiniram ko lang yan"hheheheh!!!!lusot!!!!! ;D

she sighs a lot whenever she finds out i just bought a new one.

kaya minsan ayaw ko pakita sa kanya.  since she's working too, i try to get home earlier than
her and watch whatever's new.  kaso, minsan nabubuko dahil di pa tapos e dumadating na.  alam naman niya pag bago at ask niya agad bago na naman yan no?  i just make palusot and say luma na yan.  kaso she
never buys it.

Sa akin naman ok lang kay misis kahit ano gusto ko since ako naman daw ang mag babayad  ;D ,ang ayaw nya lang eh yung bumili ako and im not satisfied or nagsisi sa pagbili ;D and ayaw na ayaw nya din maririnig na dadaing ako na walang akong PERA kasi doon nya ako babawian katulad ng ... ayan kasi bili ka ng bili hindi ka muna mag isip , bakit hindi ka nag budget maige, kailangan ba kasi yang mga binibili mo etc etc etc... :P :P :P away na kasunod ha ha ha.

situation:  tried my new velo cht12r in my previous set-up....and my GF then's (now my wife) gonna watch.  i really turned down the lights para di mapansin...even turned off the blue light ng velo.  when LFE sounds came in...she turned on the lights...nagulat sya.  got a mouthful...it was new year's day.  parang naputukan din ako.  did this  :-\ and this  :-*

let me put it this way.... as far as my wife is concerned, she believes that the last DVD I bought was still back in 2004!  ;D

wala kasi akong DVD cabinet dahil nakikitira lang ako sa parents ko kaya yung mga DVDs nakalagay lang sa isang malaking rectangular plastic container which are sold in the malls. ang problema nito e puno na yung lalagyan ko at yung huling binili ko (Corpse Bride) e hindi na kasya kaya kailangan ko na ng bagong lalagyan.

hindi ko tuloy alam kung paano ko sasabihin na kailangan ko na ng bago  :-\

ahhhh...I do not have any more problem with this. It was just a short time that my wife and I argued about buying stuff for my HT. Later she was the one saying...

"hon, mas maganda siguro kung naka theater seats para mas comfortable", bilis bilis bili agad sa Finiture Collection.
Next, "hon, mas maganda siguro kung mas malaki ang screen natin?..bilis bilis bili ng PJ. and so on...
Finally, I brought her to TheaterWorks at Trinoma...she saw the demo room , "hon, ang ganda, sana ganito room natin"..., ahhhhh....."sige, ibenta mo muna yung mga bags mo"...hayun nasa Lifestyle Thread na!  ;D

Does this apply to GF's" Because I think I created a monster.

During the past two recent sales, she just jumped at my request about passing by Music One and Astrovision. Before, it took a Herculean effort from me just to have her accompany me inside these stores. Now, she says "yes" really fast before I can even finish my question of, "Gusto mo dumaan ng Astro? May weekend sale sa--".

She even took home more DVDs than me. I bought 2 from Astro Festival and she got 6  :o

This past two weeks kabibili ko lng ng 20 steelbooks/1 tin/1 metalpak si esmi wala reklamo kasi binilhan ko rin sya ng DVD na pacute2x kahit mumurahin oks na sa kanya at ang matindi basta nabili na jewelry gusto nya all the way bili din ako sa gusto ko.

My partner is okay with the dvd and network media tank hobby since we have a tradition on watching movies on the weekend. Pero ung gaming ko parang ayaw nya hehehehe although she doesn't show or say it. I know gusto nya itapon ung xbox ko ehehehhe mas lalo if kaagaw ko sya sa bandwidth sa internet. Well I think she is okay with it na since I dont complain with her hobby "Facebook" ;D

Please tell your partner na huwag itapon yun xbox mo.  Sayang.  Ibigay na lang sa akin.  My partner won't mind another game console in the house. Tamang tama para di na nag-aaway yun 2 kids ko sa isang PS2.   ::)
