Title: Looking for the classic pinoy films (by Brocka, Bernal, de Leon, Romero, etc)
Post by: heisenbergman on Mar 28, 2014 at 05:55 PM
I just called Astrovision Megamall to ask if they have "Oro, Plata, Mata" and the lady said that matagal na daw silang wala nun... deleted na daw sa system nila :(

I wanted to do a marathon of at least five films by the following directors:

1. LINO BROCKA – either “Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag”, “Tinimbang ka Ngunit Kulang” or “Insiang”
2. ISHMAEL BERNAL – either “Himala”, “Manila By Night” or “”
3. MIKE DE LEON – either “Kisapmata”, “Batch ’81″ or “Itim”
4. PEQUE GALLAGA – “Oro, Plata, Mata”
5. EDDIE ROMERO – “Ganito Kami Noon… Paano Kayo Ngayon?”

I checked Fully Booked... wala.
I checked Odyssey... wala.
I checked Video City... wala.
Tapos sabi ni Astrovision deleted na sa database nila.

Is there still any hope of me finding these films anywhere? Hope someone can help. Thanks!

Himala and Oro Plata Mata were digitally remastered/restored by Star Cinema last year.  They should still be available in many Astrovision and Odyssey branches.  .

Ganito Kami Noon Paano Kayo Ngayon will be available on DVD on most video stores on April 3. (http://s17.postimg.org/t82l3tj8v/10001551_10152364232472193_601544627_n_2.jpg)

That's very odd. I just saw copies of the remastered Oro Plata Mata in Astrovision Robinsons Magnolia in early March. I'm sure, since they were out of stock for months, and my cousin from the States asked me to get him a copy. Maybe the salesgirl was referring to the original release.

Okay thanks for the tip. I'll try calling Astrovision in Robinsons Magnolia specifically.

To our resident reviewers, we're waiting for your comments. From the looks of it, it's not yet remastered. Is it worth buying?

Have not seen the actual item yet myself, but the posted cover does say "digitally restored and re-mastered" above the title.

^ Sorry jas, I removed my post since I created a new thread for this already when I saw your post. Didn't notice the "remastered etc." because I'm using a tablet.

Okay thanks for the tip. I'll try calling Astrovision in Robinsons Magnolia specifically.

There were no stocks there as of today. Also try Astrovision in SM Sta. Mesa, I also saw it for sale there last month.

Also saw Oro Plata Mata in Odyssey SM Centerpoint just 1 hour ago.

Himala was available at Astrovision Centerpoint, as well.
