The price on Gearbest is $167 which already includes the A3 Airmouse which I had to buy separately when I purchased the U1. That's way cheaper than the $199.99 Nvidia Shield at Amazon.

Edit: Actually the same Minix U9 package is only $160 at Amazon.

Why is the Minix official website not mentioning U9 as one of its products? Marami ang nag-aabang nito sa official Minix forum pero no news about its release... I have 2 minix products, the X7 and the U1. Both are great, and the price is reasonable. However, if the price for U9 is as much as Shield, then I will go for Shield since support is also good. That is what I have been reading...

You need to 20$ or more for a game controller if you want to make use of the S912 extra horse power for gaming.

But if you're not interested in gaming that's good money saved.

Google store  apps for it is for Phones and tablet. It is not designed for a  TV or  big screen unlike Android TV.  So you have to either makes use of a keyboard/airmouse or both just to navigate it easily.

Meaning hindi rin siya pwede for HD streaming services like Netflix HD :(

Here's a test you can try now. It's not just the DRM requirements but the apk as well. You can try downloading the Android TV version of Netflix and sideload it on Android devices classified as tablets and phones and see if it runs. I've tried and it refuses to run.

Netflix for non certified boxes is only at 480p if I am not mistaken.

I only know two boxes can do Netflix 4k. Xiaomi and Nvidia shield.

There is a workaround that can allow you to stream at least Netflix HD on Widevine L1 DRM certified android devices such as the U1 and U9. It takes some bit of skill but if you are up to it you can give it a go:

I have a U1 and since I needed a second box I would have wanted a U9 since Minix really is a good player and the support is great. However, while browsing the net, I was able to see a 2nd hand Nvidia Shield TV (2015 version) and after some reading of various reviews, I then grab the opportunity to check the one on sale, even though its second hand. After checking the item, I paid 8.5k for it. Although it may cost more than the U9, yet I am very satisfied with the Nvidia Shield as its support is likewise great. Note that the 2015 Nvidia Shield TV has also been updated to the latest Android OS (Nougat). Moreover, it can act like a game console as it has a game controller. So android games may be played thru the game pad. There are also games that are exclusive to Nvidia Shield. By the way, when I bought it, it comes already with the game pad and a remote. Thus, I consider myself lucky since what I bought may reach as much as around 11 to 12k.....

So, for those considering getting a new android box, take a look at the Nvidia Shield TV...
