Title: Measuring consumption of amplifiers using multimeter
Post by: qguy on Nov 16, 2017 at 11:08 PM
Is this correct,  set multi meter to amps and insert the multi meter in between one of the live wires. Get ampere reading and multiply by 220v?

Ang alam ko is to use a clampmeter to measure the ampere rating.

Or use the watt meter instead being sold here para you get direct watt results.

I just tried it on a small device, tama naman ang lumabas na result based on the specs of the equipment :)

Nice! Hehe! Picture naman ng multi-tester sir habang naka-tap sa load.

Kaya ba ng thin cables ng Tester yung load ng big amp?

Baka lumiyab sya  ;D

Did not take photos, I used a small 35 watt air pump.

1. I used a power cord and plugged into the wall. One end is connected to one wire of the  pump.
2. The other end of the power cord to the negative of the multimeter,
3. The positive is connected to the  other wire of the pump.

I used the 20amp socket of the multimeter and got 0.16 amps x 220v and got 35.2 watts.

The 20amp socket had a warning that it is not to be used for more than 15 seconds.   I would not try it with bigger devices like power amps.

Ah got it. It's in series. Ayos sir. May ganyan tester na pala. Hehe!

You can use a DMM that measures AC Ampere. Make sure it does AC not DC. Or you can use a clamp meter (for AC only). And finally, those Kill A Watt meters.

In between 1 line lang sir.. and take note na may tester na kailangan ilipat yung probe sa ibang terminal to measure amp
