Title: Hum in 110v amplifier
Post by: TinkerTailor on Jul 10, 2021 at 09:18 PM
Anyone encountered a slight hum in 110v amps? It's not noticeable when music is playing but a bit irritating to my ears  between tracks or when the music is on pause. Tips on how to get rid of it?

Btw I already tried isolating it and it's really from the amp (a yamaha 2600 avr).
The things I did so far was to ground the amp thru a wire connected to its chassis. I also connected the amp and the bluetooth module (how I play music from my laptop) to the same power source. No effect on hum.

Bro are you using a transformer or an AVR w/ 110V out?  is the humming sound coming out of the speaker?

I'm using an avr(a cheap one used for PCs with 110 out) . I will try a good quality step down transformer on Monday.
Yes bro the sound comes from the speakers...

Try to replace that first. let us know results

I kinda experienced the same thing before but not in a 110V amp. It was a 220V amp plugged into an AVR.  It was the AVR that was causing it.

Update on my problem:

I tried a good quality 220v to 110v transformer, however the hum/noise is still present.
I guess I just have to live with it. Anyway I can only hear it when no music is playing and when the office is totally quiet.

try a shunyata delta v10 nr powercord to reduce the noise comming from transformer.. hope it helps  ;)
