Title: The Gentlemen (Netflix)
Post by: lithium_deuteride on Mar 24, 2024 at 05:29 PM: Started bingeing on this new Netflix series by Guy Richie, same guy who made Snatch and Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, 2 of my all-time favorites (watch those if you want to see Jason Statham before he became an action star). This one gives the same smart British underworld vibes as those 2 films but from the point of view of aristocrats instead of the street hustlers.

Guy Richie creations always had memorable villains; this one includes a Filipina supercar dealer named Mercy whose weapon of choice is a jungle bolo. There's Tommy Dixon, the fish gutter and his lunatic brother, Gospel. None comes close to the unhinged pig feeding Bricktop from Snatch.

The leading lady in the Netflix version is by far cuter.

However I seem unable to continue watching the movie version unlike the series where I was hooked from the start.
