Hello, I'm thinking of buying a CD changer for my HT system (at least 3 disk changer with optical output). Does anyone know the best CD changer in the market at present.
-
Hi Symon!
Are you referring to a CD changer or a DVD changer?
If its a DVD changer, you can check out the Pioneer DV-K303C. There's the older model, though, the Pioneer DV-K302C, but of course, the newer model is better! ;)
If its a CD changer you're looking for, then I've checked out the ff carousel changers some months ago:
Harman Kardon FL8380 - 5 disc changer
- This one has HDCD, and was my very first choice, but what put me off was about comments from around the net, which describes it as having a really noisy changer. Aside from that, it cycles through all the discs on power up, instead of immediately playing with the cd on hand. :-\
Oknyo DX380 - 6 disc changer
- My second choice, but at that time, there was no stock (kuno), and they gave me a high price, so I didn't bother checking it out anymore. ::)
Denon DCM370 - 5 disc changer
- My 3rd choice, this one too has HDCD, (and also cycles through all the cds before playing as with reviews from the net). Coaxial digital. But as with most Denon products locally, its overpriced. :(
Yamaha CDC685 - 5 disc changer
- I settled for this one, no HDCD, but this one does not cycle through all the cds before playing, and is not noisy when it changes. Optical digital. Another nice thing about this player is it hardly heats up (if it heats up at all!) :)
If you're looking for a huge changer, I've eyeballed the Pioneer PDF1009; its a 301 mega changer, and its around P14990 the last time I checked. Optical digital. This one though does not have an interface where you can type in the Title of your albums. :-\
Hope I'm of some help! ;)

Wow, thanks for the reply. At least now I know what to look for na. I'm actually looking for a CD changer, so as to minimize wear & tear on my DVD player. :)
-
Hi symon,
I had the exact same idea as you. :)
And also, depending on the brand and model, a CD player can outperform a DVD player, like those single tray CD players that our Audiophile gurus here have. ;)
Now that I have a CD changer, I have one eye on Tape Decks ... haha! ;D

Hello MeowPao,
Tapedecks! ang mahal talaga nitong hobby na 'to! hehehe:) BTW, can I ask where and how much did you buy your Yamaha CD changer? Thanks again.

do any of you guys own a cd/dvd changer? I'm thinking of getting a cd changer for my room. it's much cheaper than high end players, i don't know why. The Sony one has an optical cable out for digital output, and it has a keyboard for cd data input. it can also play cd-r and rw. is this any good? It's suggested retail is $230.00. do they have this in the philippines? or any 100+ cd/dvd changer at all for that matter. i just don't want to keep on changing cds everytime i want to listen to them, i just want to keep them in a place where i don't have to keep on playing em.

Hi DrDoh,
Check mo itong link:
CD Changer
(http://www.pinoydvd.com/yabbse/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=3474) :)
From what I gather, if you are into playing CD, then a dedicated CD player/changer will outperform most DVD players/changers. :)
-
uy, di ko nakita yung thread na yun a. paki merge na lang mods!
Yung cost kasi ng dvd changer na same number 5x more expensive e. so i guess a dedicated cd player plus a single disc dvd player is the cheapest combination.
where did you see those players here again?
thanks man!

For the Harman Kardon or Denon, you can check out Architecural Audio.
I got my Yamaha over at Listening in Style Shangrila.
Onkyo, you can probably ask Hyperaudio.
Pioneer, you can go check out Image (Harrision). I also saw a 100+1 CD changer they CONVERTED into a DVD changer. :o

Meowpao,
are you sure converted to dvd changer or VCD changer lang? Do they do it themselves? Thanks

Hi Voj,
Its DVD alright... but the Pioneer Label says its a CD Changer (F1009 or F1007). Also, its 220v na... and knowing these changers, they are 110v. It appears to be an 'own conversion' instead of being directly made by Pioneer.
They even had a similar model modified to view VCDs, and may KARAOKE movies/songs built-in. :o

i read a couple of reviews regarding 100+ ones from amazon, most of them say it breaks easily. Since madami raw na moving parts inside, it's easier for it to fail. and to change from one cd to another, it takes 17 SECONDS (for sony). I thought it'd be much faster, since naka store na, but no. you'll have to wait for it to rotate from one cd to another, load up, and play. If all i wanted was a cd storage unit, it'll take me just as much time to go to my stack and play a cd i want to play. i guess that's why nasa-lower end siya ng cd player market :P
oh well, i guess it's back to the drawing board for them.

This is why I decided to get a Carousel Changer. It's between a single tray and the 'jukebox', in terms of design, parts, and convenience. :)

Meow,

Its near the big screen tvs near the entrance to their audio demo room. Around 13K-25K (cant really remember the exact prices) depending on the model, yung regular, yung pwedeng vcd, yung pwedeng dvd pa. Try calling them up kaya. :)

i will thanks! :)
