sir meridian, yup, i'm living in manila now. bought my sonos from magnolia av/best buy in san francisco (and paid the nasty CA sales tax :( ). i could've ordered it online and saved on the tax, but despite having drooled over it for months, i wanted to actually play with it and touch it before i made the big purchase. folks at magnolia/best buy were very supportive and i made the plunge and carried all 30 lbs of it back to manila. the amps are pretty decent (and heavy), and setup, as most owners attest, is really hassle-free. i'm pairing mine with a buffalo linkstation 160gb so i don't have to have my pc on all the time.

the best bonus is its ability to act as a bridge, so my xbox is now connected wirelessly via the sonos. distance-wise, it's also fairly decent. had a party at our building's pool area, and all i had to do was bring down 1 receiver and a pair of speakers (i'm only 1 floor above the pool), and people had a lot of fun with the wireless remote and alternating as dj's for the night.

let me know if you do decide to bring it in, or if you need more convincing :) last i heard from sonos, i was the first person in asia to have it (well, through official sales channels i guess, and not as a spinoff from the production line). i guess i was the only one silly enough to allocate half my luggage allowance to a gadget :)

thanks sir YrNeH, new_age and hans. kuntento na naman ako sa setup since di naman ako audiophile (wala akong tengang pang-audiophile :) ), pero minsan parang bitin lang yung AVR so i guess kung maguupgrade, yun lang. minsan kasi, i have to crank it up to -10 or -5 db for decent listening levels (or baka bingi lang ako  :P)

dati ambisyon sana mag tubes, but after i bought the sonos, wala nang budget  ;D i'll try to take a pic of my audio setup, pero sobrang simple compared sa tube setups dito.. hehe

back to manila and back from the dead. took a while to put things together but finally started testing out stuff in the new place... been over a decade and a few iterations, but I realized I never really changed gears that much. the speakers i had from over a decade ago, i'm still using, with some new siblings :)

too used to apartment living and don't really want to mess with the traffic, so still working with very limited space

Still a pretty straightfoward setup:

Audio:
Amps
First gen (and still alive) Sonos ZP100 (for streaming/locally stored digital music)
Cayin MT-45 mk2 (with stock EL34 tubes)

Analog player
Gramovox Floating Record TT

Speakers
B&W 602s2

HT:
AVR:  Denon AVR-X4200W
Power Amp: Emotiva XPA-5 Gen 1 (thanks VG!)
Fronts: B&W 683s2
Center: B&W Matrix HTM
Rears: B&W 601s2
Height: Golden Ear Invisa 525
Sub: SVS PB12 plus/2
Media Center/Storage: QNAP 653A

Finally got around to sorting out the tablet control to tie in some of the home automation stuff.

10" tablet running Imperihome controlling Philips Hue lights / lightstrips, Logitech Harmony, and the Vera Gateway (for z-wave control of blinds, aircon, etc)

Still tweaking the sequence, but so far, I have it set to the following:

- Media button triggers Activity on the Harmony Hub (turn on AVR, turn on TV, turn off pin lights and track lights, turn on LED strip behind TV)
- Kore controls Kodi (running on NAS directly connected to AVR)
- Kodi set up to dim cove lights and LED strip behind TV when any video starts. Hue addon synchronizes colors of the LED strips to those onscreen (some people complain about delays, but it's good enough for me)
- Kodi turns up brightness on LED strips when video stops playing
- Media off on Harmony turns off AVR, TV and LED strip behind TV, turns on pin lights and track lights

salamat!

sir nelson, didn't get to implement any sound management yet (WAF is the main reason - she's really concerned about the aesthetics, and just wanted the walls bare or with paintings/framed pics).
