Title: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Post by: DMedia Interactive on Sep 11, 2005 at 06:36 PM
Anyone here connected with Warner? Just want to ask when it will be released in the Philippines. I love this movie so much. And can you spare a lil' info on its special features?

Thanks

Okay, it looks like the inclusions vary per territory. I don't think the Philippine release has the trading cards nor the slipcase but we will be getting a themed notebook. I have no idea what that will look like though.

Most probably nga it won't be the same with the R1 version...HK release comes w/ the notebook that sir firewired said.

Great value, great price...

Will get this for sure along with Polar Express & Batman Anthology.

Thank you Warner.

Now if only pricing for new releases for other distributors would follow.

bakit ang warner kayang magrelease ng quality DVD at a cheap price, and with free items to boot. yung ibang mga distributors bakit hindi kaya? ayaw nilang lumiit ang profit nila?

I agree.  It seems those distributors operate on the assumption of high profit rather than volume sales.

Mas maganda sana na they sell by the truck loads instead of making huge profits from small number of sales.

Again I'll go for the DE with this one.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there'll be a slipcase for the R3 release. I posted a list of the features on the front page, btw as well as a copy of the cover.

Saw it already.  Ang laki ng  notebook.  Sayang walang slip case.  I don't think I'll have any use for the notebook.  So I'm gona wait for the regular 2disc edition at 499.

The regular 2-disc 499 was beside the 550 with the notebook at Astro Sm Sucat yesterday.

Got one also last night. Didn't like the notebook that much, blurry cover and "inexpensive" paper stock. But still got the variant w/ notebook. Gave the notebook to my suking saleslady. ;) Haven't checked out the whole movie, but PQ and Audio was okay. Menus were animated...nice feature on Deep Roy's transformation into thousands of Oompa Loompas. Deep Roy Rocks! ;D Will give an amateur review soon.

I compared the R3 with a sealed copy of the R1.

1. Although the front and back cover art is quite different, the listed special features are identical on the two releases.

2. On the back cover, the printed running time of the R1 is 115 mins. On the R3, the printed time is 117 mins.! I was thinking there was an "international cut" of the film that was a little longer, so I rushed home to post about it here. However, I just checked the disc itself. The actual runtime of the main feature is only 114 minutes and 46 seconds. So clearly... the 117 mins. running time is just a misprint, sorry!  ;D

Quote
movie lang ba talaga laman ng disc 1?

Movie, 2 1/2 minute trailer, and 40 second commercial for the soundtrack CD.

Got to watch it already last night. PQ was a little soft but clean, audio was good (very active mix). I'm content with the R3 already...Warner could've made a better job on the notebook though but for the price, who's gonna argue that this is a steal. ;)

I think the R3 also has both of the (reported) Easter eggs of the 2-disc R1. Found one of them last night on Disk 2:

Select "Features" from the main menu
Highlight "Main Menu" and press the "Down" button on your remote
A large W will appear on top of the menu portion. Select it and you get an animatic of the Mike Teavee song, with the lead Oompa-Loompas in a music video  ;D

The other Easter egg should appear when you complete all the challenges in the Golden Ticket game ... unfortunately I haven't seen it yet because the Augustus Gloop part is sooo difficult  :D

I bought this 2 days ago, it wasnt on display yet & was still in the box when I saw it.

Great PQ and sound, but the LFE in the first part where the trucks were leaving the factory was out of control. The sub was rumbling wildly in an unpleasant way. Anyone else experience this?

PS: I actually experienced this same thing in the P**ted version so I thought that the original wont be like this, but apparently it still is.  (mods delete this part if inappropriate)

Was in Odyssey Gateway yesterday and they still have around 5 copies of this title plus the notebook ... unlike with the Batman DE, when they didn't have even ONE copy.  :D

hindi naman pala kagandahan yung free notebook. akala ko pwede ipang display kasama ng ibang mga free sa mga special edition DVDs

That's why I opted for the regular, notebook-less release. Same features naman eh.
