Title: DVDs you own but will never watch, and yet will never dispose of
Post by: wrAth on Oct 28, 2005 at 01:48 PM
Own any DVDs which, for one reason or another, you'll probably never watch, and yet will never dispose of?

excluding duplicates, and other titles you are keeping sealed to preserve original packaging

I have an unrated edition of Requiem for a Dream sitting in my room in my parents' house. Got it 3 years ago, but I actually wanted the director's cut (my friend got the wrong one).

It's still there, sealed. I don't want to open it just to watch it (I've seen the movie, I want to see the director's cut!). But I don't think I'll sell it, either - unless of course, I manage to get my hands on the DC.  :P

Well, I gotta disagree with you in this, man. I think The Wicker Man's one of the better (best, could be a little too extreme) British horror films to date. It's eccentricity could surpass that of anything David Lynch, and the finale is one of the creepiest I've seen.

There's nothing creepy about the finale. Your post got me really curious & this time I watched from beginning until the end (the extended edition). Well, not my taste. For me it's a crap but glad u like it. I'm selling off my set now  :-[

Yup, I won't blame you for that :) films are acquired taste :)

Hm, is the LE the one with the additional 15(?) minutes footage edited from the theatrical release?

That's a nice boxed set. What I have is the Region 2 UK 2-Disc release (i believe the only existing version with the unedited footage).

I think the LE is already OOP. Since it's a rare dvd, why the need to sell it? :)

Indiana Jones Bonus Disc -- just because its part of the box set.  ;)

This is very funny for me, because ever since I bought the boxed set, it's only the bonus disc that I've watched. The rest have never even been in my player, since I've already seen the films dozens of time on Beta, VHS and widescreen LD, anyway.

So many discs to watch, so little time...  ;D

The Lord of the rings trilogy EE.  Watched the theatrical version, liked them...got the EE but since there are so many good films out there, can't find the time to watch all three EE...  but will someday (maybe this lenten break?) so can't dispose of them yet...

Walt Disney Treasures tins (many of them), bought them for their collectible (and sad to say, display value), so won't open them anytime soon...

Seems kind of pointless getting a DVD movie and not having to open the case or watch it  ??? , but I guess some people just have their reasons  :-\
