Title: DVDs about disasters, fiction and non-fiction
Post by: av_phile1 on Nov 08, 2005 at 11:54 AM
I was watching The Core and Day After Tomorrow during the long weekends and realized I was watching disaster movies back to back. And their plotline looked so similar.   Then I started wishing I also had Towering Inferno, Twister, Airport and Earthquake on DVD.  I also have a 9/11 bootleg DVD but it wasn't much as it was more a documentary as seen from the eyes of surviving NY firemen.  I wonder if there are more 9/11 legit DVDs locally available.

Here are my list of disaster-themed movies/documentaries on DVD that I have:

The Core
Day After Tomorrow
Armageddon
Mars Attack
9/11
Space Cowboys
Apollo 13
Dante's Peak
Pearl Harbor

Still waiting for the release of
Titanic
War Of The Worlds

Still planning to get:
Deep Impact
Twister
The Hindenburg

Unless owners of these don't find them worth watching.  ;D

Have anymore recommended disaster-themed movies???

Someone asked me how I define disaster-themed movies.  Personally, any natural calamity or man-made situations gone wrong that either decimated structures and people or tested human endurance and perseverance to survive should qualify.  By that, I might even consider Jurassic Park 1 and 2 as part of the genre.  What do you think?

i have some classic disaster films on DVD such as the Airport Terminal Pack, Franchise Collection box set where all 4 movies are included, and The High & the Mighty w/c is considered by some as the grandmama of all disaster films...... 8)

i also own the Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure from your friendly abbu seller ;D ;D ;D (i refrain from buying the original of these titles coz they are non-anamorphic)....... 8)

I'm not even aware these titles are released locally.  If I see them being sold in you-know-where, I just might get them.  ;D
