Title: Walk The Line (release date: February 28, 2006)
Post by: guinevere_79 on Feb 06, 2006 at 12:27 AM
I just saw this film recently, and I was completely floored by it.  I love Old-Hollywood style films, moreso if there's a love story involved.  I'm still humming the tunes up to this day. :)

Two versions of the DVD will be released on the 28th:
1.  Single-disc regular edition (SRP $29.98),  includes the film in anamorphic widescreen video (a separate full frame version may also be available) along with director commentary, 10 deleted scenes and theatrical trailers.
2.  2-disc Collector's Edition (SRP $39.98) that will include the film in anamorphic widescreen video, the same director commentary, 10 deleted scenes and theatrical trailers as the regular edition, plus 3 extended music videos, and The Passion of the Man in Black and Walk the Line: Comeback documentaries.

Cover art can be seen here:
Single disc http://www.davisdvd.com/images/covers_big/walktheline.jpg
2-disc http://www.davisdvd.com/images/covers_big/walktheline2.jpg

I'm definitely purchasing the 2-disc version.  Can't wait!

I'll also get this one... as a gift for my mom... Reese's performance/singing is superb as June Carter.

Got this for Jaimesitcom  ;D I'm so happy! I thought that the movie and transfer was brilliant but it needs more Special Features. Love the 5 B&W postcards too...

If you'll concentrate on Phoenix's and Witherspoon's performance and singing, I'll say it's a marvel to watch, but with regards to the authenticity of the biopic, my mother once told me that there's something different or missing... probably the reason of the mixed reviews... also, a friend of mine said that Cash was an ex-convict way before he reached that stardom, whether true or not, it's not there in the movie...

You can't deny that the filmmaker is a fan of the Man in Black. The life of J.R. Cash had very good treatment considering that it's just a 2-hour film. Performances from Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon were both excellent. The music was great, thanks to T-Bone Burnett. DVD wise...good PQ and AQ, special features spread too thin though. Packaging really kick-ass... ;D definitely a keeper... ;D but that's just me thinking out loud. ;)

part of the producers i believe was Cash's son who was commenting that the film was authentic and all the basic inputs were there.  ;) it's shown in the special feats disc.  ;)

Yes, the performances of both Witherspoon and Pheonix where just perfectly excellent! Singing is already hard enough being an actor (according to Witherpoon on OPRAH). I also liked the packaging of 2 Disc Collector's Ed., the postcards were cool too. I agree with Sir Seph that the Special Features were just pure bad.  ;D Needs more! The making feature was quite dull. The video quality, sound and lighting are great. Direction is underrated, should get an Oscar nod.

I enjoyed the film so much. I thought the music was great. I kept humming and singing them for months till I got the DVD. :) Also, the Walmart Exclusive (picture posted by sir Aldrinpsx) and The 4 Disc Australian LE (details posted by sir hemi) are must buys for me! Film was great!!

Is the Walmart Exclusive WS or FS?

 ;)

Don't quote me on that Chino....didn't say anything about the SFs being bad. ;) Agree with you that it needs more, probably the Australian LE will take care of that. ;D plus with the included soundtrack CD, you'll be humming for a few more months. ;D

Congrats on a very good buy on the 2-Disc CE... ;)
