mga sir,
survey lang sa mga t-amp users. what speaker are you using and comments (if any)?
this will serve as a guide for a would be t-amp user and a newbie like me.
tnx
-
Generally, dapat high sensitivity, mga 91db or more. Secondly, mas maganda pag di complex ang impedance ng speaker, meaning, from 20hz to 20khz, maganda sana fixed at 8ohms, 6 or 4 ohms, wag yung magalaw and naglalaro ang impedance depending sa frequency. I have one diyed speaker na malaro ang impedance, kahit low level, pag biglang nagkaroon ng transcients sa mid/high, biglang mag tetemporary mute and t-amp, tapos babalik uli, split second lang, pero sa ibang commercial speakers, ok naman.
-
Bob Brines hi sensitivity single drivers... match made in heaven yan....
-
I've got the same question. Any eperiences? Specific speakers?
THanks!

Monitor Audio S1 :)

I am using Mission M72 @ 89db w/ tube pre amp.. Maganda tunog w/ decent bass. Mang Rene told me a few days ago that he observed that the Mission M-7 series performed well for tubes, the M-3 series, not much daw.
I tried my 6th & 7th channel lsat night, Mission 731i @ 89db, front ported. Not that good, kulang sa bass (front ported eh) . Mas suwabe & tubey pa rin M72.
-
I am using celestion model 3 and sl12si bookshelf speakers (Sensitivity @ 86db for both) ok naman tunog ;D ;D ;D very pleasing to listen. Same with MAtZTER with decent bass pero hayop sa mid at sa high lutang na lutang parang naka tube. :)
Both the model 3 and sl12si are sealed type speakers. BTW my t-amp is also stock, no modification done with it yet.
Cheers :D

It would be impossible to find a speaker that shows itself as a purely resistive load - or you can imagine a fixed resistor as a load - that would be a purely resistive load. A woofer has to move back and fort to move air and create low frequencies - this movement causes the coil to move hence changing it's dc resistance and impedance. Unless someone re-invents the speaker it would always be this way. How your amp reacts to it (changes in impedance) is what's more realistic and how it copes to such changes should be considered.
I must agree on the high sensitivity requirements, so choose your speakers well. Digital amps can be tiring to listen to after a while if you don't choose a proper match speaker to it. Properly selected speakers will surely provide endless joy to the listener.
-
The reason it changes its impedance is because of frequency. The voice coil is essentially an inductor. The DC resistance is fairly stable with respect to frequency. It represents the wire resistance due to the resistivity constant, length of wire and wire thickness. :)

The t-amp has long been well-tested to be a good amp challenging high end tubes and SS by known core audiophiles. If the finding is that it can match tube performance, then you can only infer that the used speakers is something what is applicable (matched) for tube amps.
So many who jumped into the T-amp bandwagon were disappointed primarily because they failed to appreciate the matching speaker for the T-amp. In general terms, a full range (single driver) high sensitivity speaker system is a swak to the T-amp: sana mga 94db up. Kaya kahit biritin mo siya (at 8ohm it can reach about 8 watts, or +9db), up to max undistorted power, you will have 103db SPL which you yourself will not try to approach (malakas na) - and the T-amp is still cold to the touch.
Of course, going single driver has pros/cons too, depending on your choice of music materials. Kapag orchestral and mga heavy bass music, it is better to have the sub/sat speaker config. Kapag mga acoustic music, lite jazz, vocal - then a single driver would do.
Typical commercial speakers in boutique are low sensitivity with complex cross-overs - this subtracts almost about 3db of power (wasted) from T-amp miniscule rating. Single driver with no cross-over maximizes that power - of course this is still dependent on speakers' sensitivities.
Also with high sensitivity speaker system with simple or no cross-over, impedance swing will not be a bother at all.

excellent! ang galing nyo - ayan sapul na sapul na talaga.
choose wisely
-
just soliciting your opinions.
which of the 2 speakers do you prefer for a t-amp, esp. the charlize?
1. B&W602s3 - sensitivity: 90db/1w
2. Klipsch RB25 - sensitivity: 94db/1w
na audition ko na ang 602 using a pioneer ss amp pero ang RB25 di pa kasi walang presence ang klipsch sa cebu. i will bring my charlize amp next time sa av shop para ma audition ko together with the 602s3.
-
Try nyo yung Tangband speakers. I am selling one at the Assorted Buy and Sell section ;D
-
you've got great speakers sir nerve.
any reviews from a klipsch owner. parang mostly naka b&w ang mga members dito
-
I'm thinking full range drivers in TL's.

aprub! high sensitivity na may deep bass pa thank's tp TL's physics. ;)
-
mga t-amp masters,
which of the 2 will be a perfect match to a charlize (for LF) and sonic impact (for HF) amps:
1. b&w 602s2: 90db
2. b&w 602s3: 90 db
heard that the s3 is power hungry than the s2.
to stir up some more. will the above amps (CSI) can make these floorstanders sing?
1. AE EVO 3: 8 ohm/ 90.5dB
2. MA B4: 6 ohm/91 dB
-
Klipsch RB-3 (94dB)

I'm thinking full range drivers in TL's.
Group buy tayo. A Pioneer driver which has been in manufacturer since 11 years ago has been tested to be high end at least cost. A TL design has been made for this, as well as BIB. MY brother and I are thinking to get a pair each. Though I want to test an 8inch dai ichi full range.

Klipsch RB-3 (94dB)
sir,
have u auditioned this speaker? how much and where to audition?
thanks

saan at magkano ang speakers na to sir? may cut-out dimensions ka sa TL?

I think john made a TL w/ a Dai-ichi 8-incher.

weng,
mahirap manghula. mamaya ako pa sisihin mo. ;D
why not ask yun dealer kung pwede mo audition using your amps (in bi-amp mode)? since you're a serious buyer naman I'm sure they'll accomodate you. but of course they are prepared naman kung wala ka magustuhan.
audition. ;)

jojoD,
no problems if u recommend bro. i know u have a lot of experience in matching things ;D
but honestly, i am really serious in buying a new pair of speakers. i just wanted to hear the full potential of my setup now, then rest and enjoy the music. but due to my location it is difficult to auditon all the recommended brands. buti na rin para iwas sars. sa internet lang ako maka audition ng mga reviews ;D

Consider auditioning DALI Ikon2 and Ikon6. I think these are very easy to drive, most specially Ikon 6 even though it is a floorstander.
Available at Architectural Audio.

Is it OK to use an adaptor with a 14 volt output with 1800 mAmp for the sonic t-amp.
Nakalagay kasi sa leaflet 12 or 14 volts pwede.
Just want to make sure im starting to use it na kasi and wala naman ako nakikitang prob for now.
I can even go beyond 12 oclock.
But thats just now last night ko lang nabili t-amp ko sa dai ichi.
Im using it with my 602s3 I find na wala syang masyadong bass.
1Hindi dynamic bitin na bitin o dahil breakin period pa.
I'll try to audition iyung Klipsch na floor stander or Dali Ikon na floor stander.
I find the Ikon too pricey.
Hindi ba sabi nila dapat 30,30,30,10 for speakers, receivers player and cables.
2K lang ang t-amp tapos way above ang speakers tamang matching ba ito in terms of budget?
-
I would prefer that you use a power source within the 12v range. And regards to your concern, doing some mods and tweaks should up the cost of the amp. Personally i would change my speakers to fit the t-amp or just by a different amp for your speakers...something with more power. The t-amp is good if used within its limits.

I think john made a TL w/ a Dai-ichi 8-incher.
Paging john ...
sent you PM :)

mga masters,
agen, agen, agen. opinion poll lang ;D
if u were in my shoes having a charlize and an SI, would you:
1. get a bw602s3
2. diy a fostex based speakers (FE167E) + a 10-12k worth sub
the above choices will cost more or less 26k which is the budget that i wanted to burn. the proposed setup is for audio listening only. i listen to different types of music, sometimes even r n b's. this will be placed in a 5x5 mtr room.
salamat po.

Has anyone paired a pair of Monitor Audio B2 or B4 speakers with the SI T-amp? Your feedback would be highly appreciated.
B2 is a bookshelf 90db 6ohms
B4 is a floorstander 91db 6ohms
Thanks

I tried the B2 on SI. Just me, but didnt like it. I liked Missions better.
Take note that the above opinion is subjective. It still depends on your ears. Who knows you might like it.

Been auditioning speakers for T-amps lately. Used Mission M52 before, it was great! but I sold it already.

Ikon 2 was great, sounded great my dual T-amps
That Usher speaker I borrowed from Akyatbundok sounded great even w/ only 1 T-amp!
Mission Volare V61 sounded good, but @ 87db, minsan di kaya w/ 2 T-amps.
Castle Richmond 3i--ganda!

Klipsch RB-3 (94dB)
Has anyone tried this w/ T-amps?

good short reviews matz.
until now i haven't bought a new pair of speakers for my t-amps. malapit ng maubos ang budget ko ;D

Mat oks yan kaya lang me pinipili equipment din.
Talaga pala magaling na yun usher ni akyat! ???

I'm presently using an 8" Dai-ichi full range driver mounted on a DIY Folded TQWT enclosure for my 2a3 amp, using the MathCad sheet of Martin King. If any of you are interested, I can send you the basic design.
By the way, not all 8" dai-ichi full range drivers can be used for this enclosure design.
Also, I've posted some tweaks on this particular 8" driver on Wiredstate.com.
Cheers.

sa pandinig ko kulang sa LF :-[
Has anyone tried this w/ T-amps?

We have sold to many customers who use t-amp with F5000R. Might want to throw that speakers in the mix. From a price point standpoint, it matches too
-
Hi MatZTER,
When youpreviously auditioned the Ikno2, Usher and the Castle Richmond 3i for the t-amp, which was the best among the 3?
Thanks

quad 12L - can do - single or dual stealthmodded t-amp ;D
locally available speakers - klipsch or diy fostex preferably high sensitivity (92db+) bookshelves-easy to drive but 88-90db is just fine with me since hindi naman pang rakrakan.

Among the 3 it was the Castle Richmond 3i. Tied very closely in first place was the Hyperion from AA , it can scream w/ 1 T-amp only. I used Bada Tube pre amp. You can audition your T-amp plus Bada pre amp & Hyperion at Architectural Audio.

Pwede ba wharfedale 8.1 sa tamp considering that its only 86db? Pag nahirapan i-drive, whats the effect on the sound? thx
For as long as you maintain soft listening level (below 1W), 8.1 will sound good. Loud volume will have audible distortions and compression that your ear may not tolerrate.
-
AJ1
aHobbit is right. But the best is to test and hear for yourself because I also have tried other speakers with higher db (say 88 to 90db) and also does not work. You will encounter clipping and distortion when you increase the volume beyond 10 o'clock on the dial.
On the other hand, B&W 303s and the Aurum Cantus f5000r bookshelfs work well with the t-maps and they are rated at 88 and 89db respectively.

this is my current setup with a gen 1 iPod Nano as source. love this setup. synergy is close to perfect for near field listening.
