Guys, you should watch this film. Saw it last night at GB3.. grabe konti ng tao nanunuod.

Its sad coz this film is being overshadowed by Superman. So far this is the best film ive seen this year! Why? Because no other film made me grip the arm rest of my seat as hard as this.  Purely intense, gut-wrenching edge of your seat suspense. And to think it all happened for real.

I will... tonight, also @ GB3.

Malamang bro! Really liked the director's previous movies. Supremacy was pretty suspenseful din.  ;)

Just like to know if greengrass had used the same camera technique that he did for Bourne.

The whole movie was shot like a documentary. A lot of camera movements and it shakes a lot... makes you dizzy sometimes. But it works.. the drama, the tension.. it felt like you were actually there.

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOME ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES SPECIAL EDITION DVD INCLUDING A FEATURE CHRONICLING THE EXPERIENCES OF MILITARY AND CIVILIAN GROUND OFFICIALS BASED ON THE EVENTS OF 9/11

'United 93' 2-Disc Limited Edition Available on DVD September 5, 2006

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced it will release the "United 93" 2-Disc Limited Edition DVD that includes the theatrical feature film and two emotionally powerful and spellbinding documentary bonus features, "United 93: The Families and the Film" and "Chasing Planes: Witnesses to 9/11," on September 5, 2006. The acclaimed, powerful and unforgettable story of a diverse group of people who banded together in the face of danger and valiantly refused to surrender, "United 93" is based on the searing events of 9/11 that shook the world. Painstakingly researched with the full support and involvement of the families of those who lost their lives as well as the flight controllers and personnel who experienced the day's events, the film continues to be the best-reviewed major studio release of the year. The "United" 93 2-Disc Limited Edition is priced at $30.98 SRP.

The previously announced single disc "United 93" DVD containing the feature film and "United 93: The Families and the Film" bonus feature also debuts September 5 for $29.98 SRP.

"Chasing Planes: Witnesses to 9/11" is a riveting 48-minute documentary that chronicles the myriad of experiences, personal dedication and touching insight of the civilian and military ground control personnel on that fateful day. Individual accounts and now historic footage provide a compelling look at the intense efforts to save additional lives and protect the country in the midst of chaotic and often conflicting reports with lives at stake and the security of the country under attack. The documentary examines in detail the chain of events involving the four airline flights that were hijacked on 9/11 with the intention of being used as weapons, including the fateful flight attack that that was thwarted by its passengers and crew, United Flight 93. The documentary is produced and directed by "United 93" associate producer Michael Bronner.

"United 93: The Families and the Film" is a 50-minute documentary containing intimate interviews that focus on the families and the actors discussing the emotional challenges of bringing the personalities of the passengers and the flight crew members to life in a way that conveys what director Paul Greengrass calls "a believable truth" of what happened during the 91-minute flight. The documentary is produced and directed by "United 93" associate producer Kate Solomon.

This is one of the few films with a 90% fresh tomatometer reading on rottentomatoes.  And based on a few positive reviews I've read, if there's any film from 2006 worth owning, this is one of them.

Konti na lang discount sa list price.

OT: Anyone knows when the local R3 will come out.  I really want to compare before dipping...

And is this film really that good? as reviewers after reviewers have pointed out.  I was wondering if the film will be as good, for non-Americans, because we understand 9-11 touches a raw nerve for them.  Does the film have the same impact for us?
Title: Re: United 93 (Sept 5th)
Post by: DVD_Freak on Oct 08, 2006 at 04:11 AM
For me I'm also interested in getting one.  I have no doubt that it is a good movie.  But does it illicit repeat viewing?

Baka naman I might just buy an expensive R1 2-disc special edition and only watch it once...then stuck to the shelf oblivion which I don't consider a good investment.
