I need to buy 1 unit kasi as a christmas present for my parents back there in Phil. (LCD or Plasma TV will do) kaya price hunting pa ako. Baka po meron nagbabalak bumili dyan ngyong last quarter like group buy makikisabay po sana ako. (kunin ko n lng yung brother ko as my representative). Budget ko po 60k to 70k :o ::)
I'm sure maraming up coming promo with different stores and companies before x-mas kaya magandang timing 'to.

I haven't seen the sony in action, but of the others, i suggest to get the panasonic 42pv70. With the qualification that there's a need for the 100 hours burn-in, which will control how you can and cannot use the tv for gaming or as computer monitor for the period.

I know, that's why I was curious if the 65T model already has it. There are 32" Philips and Samsung models having 720p that can be had for less that 50T. I am not going to spend 15T more for a mere 5 inches more on a 720p resolution. It will actually look more pixellated than on a 32" LCD. ;D

just to be fair on the 37 inch, the "pixelation" isnt very notcieable yet at 37 inch unless you are viewing from a short distance

in the local market there is only 1 brand selling 37 inch lcd at 1080p.
i cant remember name of brand right now, but its a new local brand and their 37 inch l1080p is at about 70-75k, without serious haggling.

I went to ansons alabang towncenter yesterday... they r selling the sony 32v300a for 60k (cash or credit in full)... with ht... (the one that doesn't have hdmi input). maybe they can offer u this model lower than 60k if its a group buy... anyway i just though there are some ppl hir who myt be interested...

I think there is no need for one person to organize this, we can just decide here on this forum different dates according to members convenience. On that date the members who are buying a particular model for example decide to visit the store and pay together to avail the discount (if there is a group discount..haha)

Hi Bro, I just have to audition the Panasonic 42PV70 or a good 40"+ LCD before making a choice. But more or less, decided na ako to get one this month. I'm leaning towards getting it sa Listen Up or Theater Works because I've been getting all my HT stuff from the LIS Group and Oliver is a friend. I'll be in Manila this weekend to audition the units. I also might upgrade my speakers to a Wharfdale 5.1 setup and I might get this together with the Plasma as well.
Do you have any preference in what store to go to? Basta lowest price would always be one of the deciding factors! Hehehehe.

Sir, I suggest getting at least a 40" LCD TV for gaming. I don't think 32" from the previous 28" isn't a big upgrade. Maka mabitin ka lang. ;)
If for viewing movies, I suggest the 42" panasonic plasma.

e what if naging 60k na lang yung pv70 pero ang natitirang unit e iisa o dadalawa na lang, e di nag agawan pa kayo sa pagbili ng last units left and as far as i can see from the list 9 kayo gusto bumili ng 42pv70 so imbes na maging group buy baka maging group fight pa over the remaining units.... and like what i can see from jeff's strategy binababa nya yung price pag konti na lang ang stocks nya and pag naubos na stocks nya pasok naman new models at high prices again... well, just my opinion baka kasi wala kayo mapurchase in the long run.

group buy can always provide good economics because of strength in numbers ... even traders knew this ... if its 70k or effectively 64k, a group buy can even have this at 55k ... you should have a good strategy and the right people to talk to though!
Ganun talaga, parang pc na ang electronics less than 2 month iba nanama ang price. but if wait too long you wont be able to purchase your unit. ;)
I just thought you should be aware how this LCD TV price is behaving ... just like the DVD when it was introduced ... it started at 30k ... and now you can have it 3.5k branded ... with LCD TV, there is no way but to go down by way of high demand, and currently unlimited supply (because all manufacturers want to get much of the pie share) - translated to much even lower prices, more features - and expect the trend until all those CRTs have been eradicated from all houses.
vendors are trying to off-loads all those old stocks or they risk losing their big profits come new pricing scheme and new tech and exert to them so much pressure to make their pricing more reasonable for consumers!
This is exactly the plight of those plasmas when they have been challenged by LCD tech - typically just a matter of time - so do everything to market at this time while price can still command a good profit/return.
Even if this 42PV70 is out of the market, the new one will even be better - and cheaper!!!

Yes the new ones will be better & expensive ;)(meron na ako bro), the target market is to go back to its original state but in full HD 1920x1080p like the new Pioneer Kuro's, toshiba full Hd X series, Samsung M series and the panasonic PY series, these are all expensive units, kung kumagat ang market the prices will be stable at sympre babagsak na mga lumang stocks. Pag ubos na mga lumag stock the new one's will replace the old technology. As soon as the standard format for plasma and lcd is 1920x1080p. Then prices will go down but not this year, until the market has fully accepted these units and the demand is high more production will be made then the prices will go down. Laws of Supply and Demand. ;)

To anyone concerned regarding the difference between the Panasonic 42PV70 and 42PV7 plasma TVs, here are my observations:
I just came from Sights & Sounds yesterday, and did a side-by-side comparison between the two models and observed their picture quality and physical appearance/built.
- In terms of features, the only difference between the two models is that the Panasonic 42PV70 has two (2) HDMI inputs versus the 42PV7's one (1) HDMI input. The other difference is that the 42PV70 has a black piano finish (only at the lower speaker portion), while the 42PV7 has a flat black finish.
- But in terms of picture quality, there was NO difference at all. Other websites claim that the 42PV7 has only 8,000:1 contrast ratio versus the 42PV70's 10,000:1, but I think it's not true. They're practically the same (brightness, color, saturation, detail). All settings in both displays we're identical and both were already properly burned-in and calibrated.
The following sources were used: Spiderman 3 (R3), Monsters Inc. (R3), Transformers (blu-ray), and their demo CD, all using 720p/1080i resolution. I wasn't able to test my R1 DVDs though (LOTR3 & Star Wars3).
But I still recommend that you see it for yourself and test both displays side-by-side for your eyes to be the judge. Smiley I'm sure either of them will do the job well.

To anyone concerned regarding the difference between the Panasonic 42PV70 and 42PV7 plasma TVs, here are my observations:
I just came from Sights & Sounds yesterday, and did a side-by-side comparison between the two models and observed their picture quality and physical appearance/built.
- In terms of features, the only difference between the two models is that the Panasonic 42PV70 has two (2) HDMI inputs versus the 42PV7's one (1) HDMI input. The other difference is that the 42PV70 has a black piano finish (only at the lower speaker portion), while the 42PV7 has a flat black finish.
- But in terms of picture quality, there was NO difference at all. Other websites claim that the 42PV7 has only 8,000:1 contrast ratio versus the 42PV70's 10,000:1, but I think it's not true. They're practically the same (brightness, color, saturation, detail). All settings in both displays we're identical and both were already properly burned-in and calibrated.
The following sources were used: Spiderman 3 (R3), Monsters Inc. (R3), Transformers (blu-ray), and their demo CD, all using 720p/1080i resolution. I wasn't able to test my R1 DVDs though (LOTR3 & Star Wars3).
But I still recommend that you see it for yourself and test both displays side-by-side for your eyes to be the judge. Smiley I'm sure either of them will do the job well.

I was in San francisco last month, so to save from US shipping, I just pick-up and inspected the TV in the Value Bros. store.
Then I had my shipper pick-up the TV from my US address to be delivered directly to my home address here in the Phil;ippines.
Shipping is by sea. So, I am already here in Bulacan but my TV has not arrived yet. Hehehe.
I am also bidding on a 58 inch Panasonic Viera. I hope I can win the item. I missed the 50 incher by only $25, it was sold at $1225 only. Sayang.

I dunno the model but I would guess that is just EDTV/SDTV resolution for the cheap price. If you will mainly just use it for watching cable or DVDs, pwede na rin siguro iyan. Pero if you plan to watch HD or Blue-ray titles in the future, i would suggest you get a 1080p (native or compatible) model like the ubiquitous Panasonic 42PV70.

This model is quite old. There are better bargains here in Singapore. Just add a bit and you can get a full HD w/ lots of freebies.

Companies do bulk purchase from the manufacturer at a lower price. At dahil na rin sa budget capability (at culture) ng consumers dito, madali nilang naibebenta.
Dito kasi, ang karamihan ay nag-u-upgrade ng gamit at least once a year. Swerte nga mga noypi dito dahil dami nagbebenta ng mga 2nd hand electronics (pero bnew condition) at a cheap price.
Currently, may ina abangan kaming bagong company (for LCD and HT) na magbubukas dito. LCD which doesnt have tuner at speaker pero very very slim daw. It should come at a cheap price also w/out these functions.

Mukang maganda yan Planar and I'm sure it should be a lot cheaper if it doesnt have a tuner & a set of built-in speakers. I'm sure may market nyan.
Dito kasi folks like stand alone units to do double duties of watching cable/tv and for HT. However, if they sell Planar at 30-40% cheaper than stand alone units, then thats something to think about ;D

2nd is 42pv70 - still rocks till now interms of sales, mura kasi eh. :D
and third is the samsung plasma's 1 meg. this is the cheapest 1 meg plasma in the market that has split screen pip and 3 hdmi input like thier lcd counter parts. ;)

so far samsung palang meron 32 na 2 meg as of now. problem w/2 megs on a small tv is not noticable, go for big screens instead. ;)
invest on something big thats worth keeping, dont waste your money unless money is no object. Go for 32a650! ang porma kasi Super Red.... hehehe :D
