Just wanna share my first ever tube amp…been using it already for around 50hrs pa lg
The dared vp-20

this version of the vp-20 uses gold plated pcb on the power supply unit while the two quasi monos do not..
accdg to the supplier, it also employs allen Bradley resistors, gold tube sockets on the preamp stage and silver on power tubes.
Has detachachable power cords
Uses 4 6l6 power tubes, 2 12ax7 and 2 12au7 sa preamp stage nya
Output nya is 18 watts per channel
Has 4 and 8 ohm tap
Each monos has only one input and has it owns gain control so pwede na walang preamp
Autobias ang amp so perfect para sa mga katulad ko na walang kamuwang muwang sa tubes pag nag change ng tubes….hehehe
When I opend the box,na shocked ako kasi poging pogi ito for the price I paid. ;D :o
Mas pogi sya sa personal kesa pics on the net ;D ;D
It is hooked on my MA rs1 and rotel rcd-1070.
I used to connect my rs1 sa Yamaha rx-v2400 pero ngayon sa vp-20 na
I haven’t use any tube amp before so wala akong reference for comparison
The unit showed no signs of hums and hiss sa transformers nya.
The vp-20 has more sparkle on vocals compared to my reciver
It also gave a more lifelike image..as if the singer is in front of me
The sound has become more engaging and mas makapal sya kesa yamaha recver.
The bass is also more than enough sa needs ko.hindi sya malamya
Tried playing sade’s cd (flow, slave song) and workshy’s dive into love to test the bass and it was tight and punchy
To my newbie ears, I really love the sound of the vp-20 ;) :)

hi almirage glad that your enjoying it, at 50hrs. it should improve pa. new tubes kayang kaya mo nayan just browse sa tubedepot.com mga tube brand you like to try though i havent personally bought tube pa from tubedepot. soon will try to buy some tubes from them. One advantage for having a tube amp is you can change the sound by changing tubes.

i auditioned these as well at S&S. IMHO they sound very good. Im sure with better tubes they would sound exemplary. Swabe din yun itura.... great buy...sana makabili din ako someday ;D
btw also I saw other models, the dared JP16 tube amp and the Dared MS hybrid. has anyone tried to audition these? any reviews?

it means na hindi ako nagkamali sa desisyon ko...hhehehehe
pinabili ko lg to dyan kay sir ches without actually auditioning ;D ;D ;D
i know it was not a wise move pero no choice ako ;D
i live in bacolod so auditioning is impossible for me
so far happy ako with the vp-20's

maybe its the vp-16 po cguro.

wow, your amp is very nice!!, and its a pair of monoblocks pa!!! galing sir, congrats, btw if i may ask, what preamp do you use sir? or kelangan pa ba ng dedicated preamp? i see your using a ma rs1, very nice sounding pair of speaker too, galing ng set up mo sir, sana mapakinggan ko minsan, ;D, your cd player is also excellent, galing mo pumili ng gears sir
btw sir, curious lang, di ba ung sa picture mo between the two monoblocks, may isang square gadget in between? what is that? thanks

hindi na po ako gumagamit ng preamp sa ngayon kasi wala ng pera pambili ;D
i think the tube preamp ng Dared is around 15k yata
pwedeng pwede po cya sir na walang preamp coz each block has it's own gain control so for now yan lg muna ginagamit to adjust the volume
ung sa gitna ng two monos sir is the power supply ng both blocks and its quite heavy po.mas mabigat pa kesa two blocks combined cguro
about sa gears ko po,ang rs1 nabili ko thru the help of dale1075.binenta ko sa kanya some of ht gears.hehehe
yung cdp naman i got it pre-owned from a bogus seller...nyahahaha
baka magawi kayo dito sa squatters area ng bacolod,pm mo ako sir coz welcome po kayo ;)

Just wondering, why would you need a separate power supply for a tube amp? di ba may power tubes na ung amp mo? hehe, di ko rin alam kasi, baguhan lang ako sa tubes, :)

ako rin po baguhan din sa tubes ;D
yung two blocks has no power cords po so they need to be connected to the power supply which uses toroidal tansformer thru the 7 pin DC cables in order for them na umandar.
the two blocks share the same power supply kaya po its kinda lika a half hearted monoblock design which they said to elimante interference between amps and power source.
hope tama ang pinagsusulat ko ;D ;D ;D

yes sir,push pull po na 18 watts per block
to my newbie ears sir,satisfied talaga ako sa tunog nito especially with voices.hehehehe

sir, try mo i play ung demo disk ng avantgarde speakers, kung maganda para sa vocals im sure lutang din yung mga horns, try it ;D

yan cguro ginagamit mo parati sir with your SE el84 ano ;)

Thanks for the link Almirage25. yup it was the dared VP 16 i saw and the other one pala was the dared mp5. congrats ulit sa good buy. keep us posted once you upgraded the tubes. :o
