Title: CD5001 & C542 mods

i just want to share my recent cd mods.. Marantz CD5001 and NAD C542..

Marantz CD5001
- Changed  NJM2068 opamp to OPA2107
- Changed some stock capacitors with Nichicon Muse,Panasonic FM, Sanyo Oscon and Wima Caps.
- Changed output coupling caps to Nichicon Muse BP caps.
- Bypass the Mute Circuit.
- Installed IEC socket with Fuse
- Changed stock rca plugs with Gold plated RCA.

NAD C542
- Replace Cd lens
- XO upgrade
- Changed  OPA2134 opamp to LME4562.
- Changed output coupling caps to Wima caps.
- Bypass the Mute Circuit.
- Installed IEC socket with Fuse.
- Changed stock rca plugs with Gold plated RCA.

Would you be at liberty in giving a ballpark figure on how much those mods in the Marantz costs?

here are all the parts used on the cd5001 mods...  :)

2pcs OPA2107Au opamps (700 ea) - Php 1400
3pcs Nichicon muse 4700uf caps (150 ea) - Php 450
4pcs Nichicon Muse BP 10uf/50v caps (30 ea) - Php 120
6pcs Panasonic FM 470uf/16v caps (25 ea) - Php 150
5pcs Sanyo Oscon caps (30 ea) - Php 150
8pcs Wima caps (10 ea) - Php 80
1pc IEC socket with Fuse - Php 100
1pair Gold RCA - Php 300

Sir Ferds - so before you added these 2.75k worth of mods, the cdp was stock, correct? Kumusta na sya after? What are the improvements?

yup stock sya.. kakabili palang nung may-ari last 2weeks yata.. bagong bago pati amoy.. hehe

after ng mods.. overall nagimprove sya.. gumanda ung high, bass and soundstage...

sana magpost ung owner dito about sa improvements...  ;D ;D

10,000 maniacs & clair marlo (local pressed CD) - better imaging and separation.

best improvement for me - FIM's super sounds 2 (XRCD24) - the magnificent seven and mozart's divertiemento. the orchestra was more majestic... better timing.

anyway... i also tried the NAD when i was in ferds house and there's only 1 conclusion: his work adds so much more value to the unit. (better unit, better improvement) overall, i'd say the improvement in value is  30% to 50% (IMHO)

Sir Ferds, how about an old Japan surplus Denon DCD-1610? Gustong gusto ko na pasyalan ka sa Angeles but di ko pa maisingit.  ;D  ;D

And congrats on your latest mod projects!!
