The interior room size is 27'x17'x11'. Medyo masmaliit ng konti sa existing HT ko except sa ceiling height, yung dati kasi nasa 7.5' tapos may biga pa kaya may part na around 6' lang.

The front wall has a total of 4" rockwool with 2" gap. The false front wall is curved using a 40' radius with a space of 10"-18" from the front wall.
Been thinking itago ko lahat mga speakers para clean look. Will experiment kung ano effect sa sound.

I left 3" space para lalagyan ng diffuser/absorber. Then gawa ng frame then balutan ng fabric then velcro na lang sa wall.
Still thinking kung maglalagay ako ng pillar or yung frame is uneven parang jigsaw puzzle ang dating.
The rear and surround speakers will be inside the frame.
Yan pa lang po ang aking natatapos will post ang susunod na kabanata ;) ;) ;)

Jay, for first reflection, you can treat that with either absorption or diffusion.
Naalala mo ang HT ni Alvin? Meron syang diffusers sa likod - yung mga slats. Makikita mo rin yun sa "Legends of Jazz." Their purpose is to scatter sound. If there is too much absorption and too little diffusion, the HT will sound too dead. Mawawala ang high frequencies. There needs to be a balance.
In most cases, what is recommended is that the front part of the room is dead (marami absorber) while the rear is live (diffusers). I would suggest you try to put diffusers sa walls sa likod and then cover them with tela. Yun ang ginawa ko sa HT ko. Yun din ang ginagawa ngayon ni Ernie.
Or at least, you can keep in mind that your 8" gap sa likod can also be a space for diffusers. Now, diffusers can have all sorts of complicated designs! D ko na kaya yun.

Try to visit svsound.com they have the complete price list ng new and b-stock models. The prices are "affordable", problem lang is the shipping from the US.

Uyy maganda yung platinum ng MA. Napakinggan ko ito powered by tubes grabe to grabe ang mids/highs ang taba pero to die for ang bass nya buong buo. Yung roomcguro 30sq.m pero kayang kaya i-pressurize. Kaso hindi speaker priority ko ngayon if ever baka mag bookshelf ako. Inisip ko lang kung papaano integration nito sa HT ;) ;)

Bro Marl, I'm looking for a sound pag action movies chest pounding, pero pag concert dvd and audio yung swabe tunog. Susubukan ko is 2 subs for action movies then 1 sub for concert dvd's. Lagyan ko siguro ng remote plug yung isang sub so I can turn it on/off thru a remote.
Will still experiment so nothing definite yet.

Two months :D. Isinabay ko kasi sa container van ng ko friend. Delivery time from svs to my friends place is about 1 week. 3 weeks pag naghintay, then shipping time is around 1 month.

Personally bro am using a Pannie 2hp split in my main HT room (around 20 sqm). Minimal noise - cause that's the primary strength naman of split vs. window type. So you're getting two - hmmm... sa laki naman ng room mo (50+ sqm) so I reckon that's fine. Besides, just using one would surely take a longer time for you to cool up the room (unless you go for the 'commercial' / 'industrial' ones vs. 'consumer' a/c's).
My 10 cents, whenever kaya - always get the bigger model. Plan ko is 2 units of 2hp. Hindi kaya over power ito? Medyo mas silent ang 1.5hp kaso baka pag marami manunuod baka maging mainit specially during summer na super init sa area namin.
Nag oofer sa akin ang Kolin airconditioner and giving me a 25%+ discount and the owner and installer assured me of their service.
Talk with the distibutor of Imarflex aircon(from the post of Matzer) also and giving me a 20% discount naman. Kaso alam ko sikat sila sa turbo cooker e baka imbis na lamig ang ilabas eh heat ang ibuga. ;D
Regarding Panasonic store price lang talaga.

Ok thanks guys for the input. gusto ko nga pana na inverter type kaso lang talaga is price. Anyway will try to call toshiba. If the price diff is not that big I'll go with the panasonic, maybe 1 unit 2hp and 1 unit 1.5hp para pagmalamig na shut off ko na yung 2hp.

I just re-computed. The volume of my HT is about 6500 cubic feet, which is 30% more than Jay's HT. I have 3 x 200-watt/channel stereo power amps + 2 x 1500-watt subwoofers and I have had up to 24 magulo people in the room at the same time. My 2 x 1.5 TR aircons have been more than sufficient. As I have noted, one aircon is enough most of the time and I believe this is because a properly-treated HT room is like a refrigerator -- it's very well-insulated.
I think the other big point here is noise. There is a big difference in noise level between 1.5 TR and 2 TR. In a very quiet HT, a 2 TR aircon can sound like a freight train.
I think that Jay's compromise is best - 1 x 1.5 TR and 1 x 2 TR.

I stand corrected Sir, You are right, I guess I computed it wrong(direct division) :) I think only carrier brand uses Tonner while the rest is Hp. Also Btu vs KJ pa. So if buying 1 Tonner AC, its around 1.5hp(1.38 to be exact) and 2 tonner with 24000btu cap is roughly 2.5hp(most have 25000btu cap).

Wala pa pare. Hopefully mga Nov. 20 shipment so around December dating. Naka-hold nga lahat gawa dahil dun hindi ko alam specs kaya yung riser hindi ko pa nagagawa pati carpet flooring wala pa and yung color ng walls hindi pa makapagdecide since wala pa carpet.

Sir yung Hitachi I think meron na inverter type at multi-zone types :) Sa church ng Iglesia ni Cristo ganito na gamit, low noise talaga even yung big units. I just dont have an idea about pricing :(

Thanks bro Mike. Will do pag nagumpisa na ako magset-up ;D Encountered a problem with one of the PB-13 ultra, nagbreakdown yung amplifier nya. Emailed svs the problem and they sent a replacement amp agad, yun nga lang have to pay for shipping ulit.
Performance wise sulit sya talaga. It can pressurized my present movie room with ease, yung dati ko subs hirap na hirap ;)

Its not really when but nung swith-on ko yung isa sub ok but the other one its pilot light hindi na umilaw. Check the amp I think power resistor ang problem, will have it check by a technician pagpunta ko Manila.

Nagamit ko naman for about 3 days before nagkaproblem yung amp.
Yup only paid for the shipping. Kaso medyo mabigat din yung amp arnd 10lbs, then pinadala ko sa JAC so additional expense nangyari. :(

Just purchase a carpet this weekend, been hunting for a good combination of colors sa carpet since last month. Went to other carpet manufacturers (taiping, carpet world, candice, others) may set design lang na pagpipilian. Finally went to ACIB at araneta ave, ginawan nila ako ng carpet sa gusto kong color at pinamili nila ako sa set design nila at sa price na reasonable naman :D

Sand was put in between the cavity then inipit ng 2 inches of fiberglass insulation para siguradong solid ang tunog. Dapat solid wood gamitin ko since tatakpan ko rin ng leather sayang lang yung hard wood.

used velcro para i-attach yung panel sa walls. Tested with the subwoofer hindi naman kumalampag ;D Sana hindi kumalampag pag naikabit na lahat ;)
Used culduroy fabric. Medyo mahirap gamitin nagiiba kulay pag mali ang kabit. Kaya have to redo yung iba panels nung pagbalik ko. Even yung pagkakaalign ng mga panels medyo nahirapan din ang karpintero, medyo mabusisi. Kala ko matatapos ko this month, hopefully next month matapos na, pati mga speaker cables early next month ang dating.

My amp rack is beside the door (yung katabi ng naka leather cover) plano ko ay tatakapan ko ng wood na may insulation yung likod(facing the HT) fasten by velcro. It can be access sa labas ng HT room. Will be using an IR repeater kung hindi kaya umabot ng remote.

after researching and contemplating.... a solution. Removed all staples and pinalitan ko ng tali. Every 12 inches or so inches butas then tali ginaya ko yung mga tensioned screen ng dalite. If there is a wrinkle higpitan ko tali and loosen other tali in other part

Of course, you know that the pj is going to be critical kasi ang laki ng screen. Both the type of pj and the placement. Ideally, the pj should be mounted on the floor, not the ceiling cuz the material is High Power so the light reflects back to the pj.

Nanlambot din ako nung ginugupit ko bro. Pero sabi nga nila it is for the betterment ;D
But it is all worth it the center of the screen has become a bit brighter and the pincushion from the anamorphic lens has been lessened.

Congrats sa coming baby.
Was really planning for a perforated screen. Dumating yung sample ng SeymourAV screen, tested it pero mas maliwanag yung HP ng dalite. Siguro pagmay lumabas na PJ na malakas ang lumens and maganda contrast at AFFORDABLE baka palitan ko yung screen at ilagay mga speakers sa likod ng telon. ;D
Besides mayroon 14" space sa likod ng screen na pwede paglagyan ng speaker. :D Mas nagagandahan kasi ako pag nakatago lahat ng speaker kaya kahit magsacrifice ng konti ang audio ok na rin sa akin. Lagay na lang audio area para sa critical listening ;D

Salamat sir jay2..sir sa lahat po ng projector may ganyang test pattern? or pineplay yan sa dvd player? pasensya na po sa tanon.. ??? :)
Hindi ko lang alam bro but for the two projectors na nagamit ko they have those test patterns. Yung mga calibration discs have these test patterns hindi nga lang kasama yung iba sa program but in their features usually kasama yun.
bilib din ako sa patience mo ... siguro kung HT ko yan, ako gumagawa niyan kahit gabi :) para matapos na.

Dilemma nya nga yan sir mark the last time we talked at the EB, he just doesn't want to position them at the front cos he wanted it to be clean. Dem! even the golds are concealed tho I have to agree mahirap itago ang bipolar speakers . . . galing mo talaga Jay2.

Sir Mark hindi ko pa rin malaman eh as dts-es said dilemma pa din ako kung saan ko ilalagay eh. With their present position may bass drop ako sa 15hz and 250hz pero nung nilagay sa side wala akong dip sa 250hz try ko ulit ibahin ang position ng subs and ilabas ko din ng screen yung mga front speakers.
Ganda nga lang ng clean look yung harap kahit madami bisita like last week wala problem, yung mga bata nakahiga sa floor and all the adults ang nakaupo sa recliners. Kahit nagtatakbuhan mga bata hindi ako nagaalala na may matatabig sila basta HUWAG LANG NILA HAWAKAN YUNG SCREEN :-)
Just finish with my equiptment rack which is located outside and right now I'm working with my remote trying to integrate almost everything sa URC.

amigong Jay, may naisip ako na baka lang matipohan mong gawin... since ayaw mong naka expose ang mga speakers esp the subs sa harap, imbes na ilagay mo sa likod, ilagay mo na lang sila sa harap then maglagay ka na lang ng from floor to ceiling na black drapes using the same material used sa speaker grill. pasok ba idea ko? this way hindi mababawasan ang linis ng tunog ng mga speakers mo esp the 3 mains. then i suggest hubaran mo na este alisin mo na speaker grills since you have a huge cover na, oks ba?

Started as pro audio speakers pero ginawa ng home theater speakers. So mas priority nya is hometheaters unlike before na sinasabi na what is good for audio is good for HT. Eto iba approach priority is hometheater second lang ang iba. It has a cutoff at 72-80hz wherein subs naman ang bahala sa lower frequencies.
That is according sa gumawa ;)

A very mint receiver from sir Streetsmart parang bago pa super kinis!!! ;)
Major decision to change from Denon 2808 to 3808 is the on screen GUI, since the amp rack is outside the HT I cant see the volume while watching a movie. And now its easier to tweak the receiver since all the menus can be easily access while the movie is playing.
Things I noticed that are diffrent from my previous receiver
1. better sound, mas swabe ang tunog nya
2. higher amp, still using the receiver to power the back surrounds.
3. better ang room equalization since mas marami ang mga points na sinusukat nya
4. has 4 hdmi inputs. Tinangal ko na yung cdrking hdmi switch
5. at yung GUI nga.

Yup its POBOX.ph nagamble nga ako sa kanila kasi sila yung pinakamura sa odd shape boxes at may favorable reviews sa TPC. It all arrive naman ok except sa 2 boxes na may butas na maliit pero did not penetrate yung styro packaging

Curious talaga ako sa feedback on these speakers. The peculiar thing about them is that they have very high sensitivity and (IIRC) their frequency response starts only from 80 Hz so you really need to match them with subs.

Youre right Mark. the receiver is still using the equalization of the MA kaya ganun ang tunog pala. Calibrate ako kahapon super laki na ang pinagbago. Creamy mids/highs and the bass ay sakto lang and not overpowering considering the size and numbers of the woofers. The sound stage is very wide.
Tried it with movies kagabi and I am grinning with the things I am hearing. Iam a bit bass lover so medyo overpowering ang subs ko by around +4db after calibration. What usually happens is ay natatabunan nya yung mids and highs, but not with the JTRs very clear ang mids and highs nya even the minute details ay dinig.
Will try to compare it with The MA and JTR next week using a diffrent amp/pre-amp to know the diffrence between the two in two channel system. Will be going to manila hatid ko muna mga bata tapos na bakasyon buhay binata ulit ;D

Thank you very much too streetsmart, pchin, gaol and ditol_eagle for a very informative visit. And a special thanks to streetsmart for calibrating the subs (mali pala yung ginawa kong calibration sa EQ1 and for using the velo subs) calibrating the speakers using the audyssey pro and also for calibrating the PJ.
Iba pala talaga ang audyssey pro, twice ko pa kinalibrate yesterday using the audyssey of the receiver pero napaganda pa rin ng audyssey pro yung tunog.
Watch a movie pag-alis nila and ang laki ng pinagbago ng picture specially ang skin color and blacks. Mas tame na rin ang mids and highs and yung gapang ng bass mas naging seamless.

Actually bro, wife ko matagal ng naghahanap ng popcorn maker na kamukha sa movie house, ireregalo nya daw sa akin. Mayroon sya nakita sa landmark trinoma kaso ang mahal kaya niregaluhan nya na lang ako ng hanes na sando ;D

First and foremost, Jay's design and construction of the main room is so good, reflections were controlled, nice overall acoustic treatment! The room is the most important element for good sound. JTR sounds so sweet, bilib kaming lahat. Matching them with a pair of SVS PB13 Ultra was a major factor too!
I am an audio engineer and movie sound supervisor by profession. Jay's home theater setup is the best I have heard so far in the Philippines. With this experience, I am also considering a Denon CI receiver with Audyssey MultEQ XT, SVS subs and JTR mains.
When we first auditioned the room, sound was good but we could hear inconsistencies. We demoed KD Lang, Diana Krall, Beyonce, the Dark Knight original blurays ;) Thanks to streetsmart's Audyssey Pro calibration lumabas lahat ng details and tonal balance! No more missing frequencies that got burried before. The sound was airy, expansive, maluwag, swabe when we played the softer songs in the concerts...then dagundong and thundering during the Dark Knight and Avatar action scenes...sarap humiga sa lazy boy and manood nalang magdamag. Streetsmart's magic is also key to having the good sound so magbudget na kayong mga nagbabalak magpa-ayos sa kanya hehe

Maraming maraming salamat Jay for being such a congenial host. The long trip was totally worth it to see and hear your home theater room, BEFORE and moreso AFTER Master Streetmark applied his "magic touch" at calibrating the audio and even a "quickie" calibration of the video. It was great and fun at the same to see the Master at work. ;D
I agree with Ditoy, your room and setup is the best I've heard so far. As an example, I could hear the insistent beating of a snare drum amidst all the chaos and noise of the Avatar final battle scene, among a lot of other details. Buhay na buhay the opening sequence of The Dark Knight. The pair of SVS ultras are killer (no need for the Velo anymore ;)). And the video after calibration was very good.
Bilib din kami in your dedication to get all things right, and "according to theory," from having no wall parallel to each other, to sourcing the JTRs (and all the free samples hehe).

Pchin, Ditoy_Eagle, Gaol and I travelled to Jay2’s place in Cabanatuan using the van of Pchin. As expected, walang trapik so it took us just a little more than 2 hours to get there.
Jay2’s current HT is the 3rd that he has built. He said that he built the first 2 before he became a Pinoydvd member and he acknowledges that they were pretty bad. His present HT, on the other hand, has been very well-designed, including the optimum room dimensions, extensive acoustic treatment and well-chosen equipment. I think you can see a lot of the positive influence of Pinoydvd in the room, including the way Jay2 was able to reduce a lot of costs.
The outstanding equipment include the following:
1) 3 JTR floorstanders for the LCR speakers, all of them with 3 x 12” woofers and a tweeter.
2) 2 x SVS PB13-Ultra subwoofers.
3) JVC RS-10 pj which has a relatively high light ouput
4) 160” 2.35 aspect ratio screen using Da-Lite High Power material with a 2.8 gain. Together with the bright pj, the brightness of the picture is excellent.
5) Panamorph lens
6) Denon 3808CI receiver
7) Rotel 5-channel power amp
The room itself is around 48 square meters with a volume of around 5000 cubic feet. It’s pretty big. There are 8 comfortable recliners.
You can see the amount of thought put into the HT when you realize some of the small details which Jay2 considered:
1) The walls and ceiling around the screen area are black, thus improving contrast ratio and color accuracy.
2) Rockwool insulation at the roof, which deadens the sound of rain.
3) A 2.5 TR aircon with the blower located outside the HT, thereby minimizing noise from the AC.
4) A huge sand-filled door to minimize noise leakage.
5) Equipment rack outside the HT (his preference - so that the HT itself has less clutter), with a RF universal remote that controls all equipment.
6) A separate circuit breaker directly connected to the electricity source.
7) A low-mounted pj which optimizes the light output from the High Power screen (the result of which is that the 2nd row of seats actually has a brighter picture than the 1st row) because the screen material is retro-reflective – light bounces back from the screen to the pj.
First order of the day was a very good lunch. Ang sarap lahat.
Then, we did some listening and viewing using blurays of Dark Knight, kd Lang, Diana Krall and Beyonce. The video had not been properly calibrated so the picture looked a bit flat, with low contrast ratio, poor blacks and incorrect color. The audio was not balanced. Bass was smeared. Highs were shrill. A lot of details were being obscured.
Fortunately, Jay2 has 2 key components for audio – an SVS AS-EQ1 subwoofer equalizer for the subs and an AVR that can accept an Audyssey Pro calibration. Initially, there were 3 subs hooked up – the 2 SVS Ultras and a Velo CHT. We removed the Velo and then re-ran the SVS AS-EQ1 calibration. Next, I used my Audyssey Pro equipment to do a 12-position calibration of all speakers (you can actually do 32 positions but we didn’t have the time). The Pro kit has a professional-grade microphone with a tolerance of ±0.5 db so it is very accurate. Furthermore, it identifies the correct crossover points and creates a filter that is optimized to these. Finally, it allows you to select a different target curve, for which we decided on an SMPTE curve with a steep roll-off after 2 kHz. As mentioned by Ditoy_Eagle and Gaol, the result was pretty good. A huge improvement actually.
Next, we calibrated the video using an i1Pro photospectrometer, Calman software and Video Essentials patterns (bluray). Initially, color temperature was very high (8000+ instead of 6500), which resulted in a bluish picture. Gamma was also way below the standard of 2.1 which resulted in poor shadow detail – the overall picture was flat. We first adjusted brightness and contrast, using a Video Essentials pattern – contrast was too low so we adjusted this upward. We then adjusted RGB gain and bias to correct the color temperature and then re-checked gamma. Since gamma was still too low, we did 2 more runs with different gamma options (from the pj menu) and we ended up with a gamma value that was acceptably close to the standard. Again, the result was pretty good – actually like night and day. The picture was more 3D.
After the calibration, I can say that Jay2’s HT is among the best that I have experienced. For me, a big thing is that the width of the HT is pretty big at 18 feet and that naturally gives a wider soundstage. Properly calibrated, his speakers are also among the best I have heard – the JTR speakers in combination with the 2 SVS Ultras. With the help of Audyssey Pro, the integration of the subs with the JTR speakers was seamless. The JVC RS pj has always been top-rated, it’s among the best.

Had I known that they would be doing all the calibration that Mark did(it takes a lot of time and patience to do proper calibration) I would have joined them.
Needless to say, what an awesome HT you have there. I am sure Mark did an excellent job. I just feel sorry for myself for not having been there to see the transformation. Anyway there will always be a next time.
You have been through a long but fruitful journey, its time to just sit back and relax and be proud of yourself for an oustanding project.

Forgot to tell streetsmart that the HT flooring is kinda isolated from the ground to minimize the ground shake. Bago ilagay yung cement ng wall (adjacent sa house) and flooring naglagay muna ako ng rubber mating to have an isolation effect "daw". And put another rubber mating before the carpet is laid out to prevent cement moisture to get into the carpet and to have a better isolation and to better preserve the carpet.

Here's the charts showing the results of the Audyssey MultEQ Pro calibration of Jay's speakers. The black is the "before" and the red is "after." Notice:
1. There is a steep high-frequency roll-off.
2. There is dip at around 2 kHz - that's the so-called BBC dip. It's purposely applied.
3. The frequency response of the subwoofers (2 x SVS Ultra 13's) is incredibly flat both before and after. That's because the subs were pre-calibrated with an SVS AS-EQ1.

After a long break with HT upgrade.
My newest addition. Bought at HMR Pioneer without remote for P2,300 110v which is fine coz Im using URC universal remote. No need of reprogramming since pareho lang ng codes ng dati kong player. Thanks to cooltoyz for the info about this player.
Reaarange my speaker and sub position for the past weeks, talking with mikec regarding sub upgrade since hindi na ako natutuwa/naghihinaan sa sub output and midbass output. Using svs eq1 for sub eq and the denon 3808 audyssey constantly switching back and forth on which is better. Doing the sub crawl, lipat-lipat ng position which is a good workout sa mga tagabuhat. :D
But still halos walang improvement sa kabadtripan I tried switching ALL eq to off, audyssey off, cinema eq off sobra laki ng pinagbago, its like a new system. Bass is A LOT better, bass that you can feel and hear, the mids and highs tumatagos kahit gaano kalakas yung bass. The highs become a lot smoother hindi na sya masakit sa tenga. Dinig yung mga kalansing even sa bass heavy scenes. Like the Hulk scene with the sound canon, very detailed yung sigaw nung girl or yung bullet shells hiting the floor while there are canon explosions. Mas malakas din ngayon yung midbass may kick na sa chest, I wonder sometimes kung na on yung sub.
Iam enjoying my system again next time na siguro ang upgrade will be waiting for LED projector na maganda and for dolby atmos na magmature. So for the meantime ito ang binili ko to cure my upgrade itch.
