i have a toshiba lapop and all the dvd players that it came with suck! the quality is horrible and the frame size is small and the bigger i set it, the worse the quality gets. i want to download a new dvd player software that's good, is free, and doesn't have any viruses. thanks to all who anwsered.

VLC Player plays all format including DVD.

If the bigger (video size) it gets, the worst it is, it could be the DVD is of poor quality (ie those multi-in-one p* discs) or your PC's underpowered.  Most DVD players software has no problem handling DVd on recent PCs/Laptop.

+1 ;D VLC is a very good all around player. Does it happen on all DVDs that you play? Try other DVDs that play well on other dvd players.

VLC is a good alternative. But as has been mentioned. It may not be the player but the movie you are watching may not be in good quality. Are you playing the DVD disc in your computer or just using movie files in mpg or avi files?

i suggest the pc friendly player....got this when i purchased the matrix dvd.

interface is classy and is very suitable for playing dvds (and its features) and softcopy *backup of your dvds.

* for the backup i suggest in using the dvdshrink (also for free) to retain the full features (special features available on the dvd)  of the movie/dvd
