Samsung 22" LA22A450 LCD TV Resolution 1680 x 1050
I'm concern about the screen size produce using a Component HD AV cable on 720p does it fit the actual screen of the PS3 very well using the preset picture setting of samsung example the wide setting.
Because i'm using an HDMI in 720p, with the Samsung's preset picture setting I can't seem to get the best picture size setting for it.
"Wide format" = it is missing .5 inch on the vertical picture edge of the screen. Can't adjust the size to shrink the screen like in PC monitor.
"16:9" = the screen size is fits we'll. the screen becomes smaller. because it puts .5 inches of black border on top and the bottom.
"Scan Line" = it fits the full screen but it looks stretch seems the circle is like OVAL. noticeable on the wheels of GTA5 prologue.
I check the samsung's manual that using HDMI in 720p or 1080i it cuts some picture size of the screen.
Will a component HD AV cable help produce good picture size improvements with video size display output in 720p. before I purchase component HD AV cable any help and advise thanks in advance.

Use 720p 16:9 for component.... it would fit well, but as you said... .5" black bars are present... LA22A450 screen aspect is 16:10... so black bars are really present.... havent tried HDMI yet but it should be same.... the manual is only telling us that cut parts in HDMI will occur if input aspect is not 16:10 but no stretch picture... just try it... I think PS3 aspect is fixed at 16:9 (not sure)

Yes, that 29.9K full HD LG LCD is a STEAL. 32 inch full HD monitor for gaming and HTPC...1920x1080p glory. May bonus ka pang TV...hehehe.

Specs/features to look for in LCD TVs if your primary use for it is gaming:
- Response time. Get those with 5ms rating or less. (Standard ata sa mga TVs eh around 8-9ms.)
- Game mode. (disables most of the processing done by the TV on the picture para less lag between the time you do your controller inputs and TV display output)

For me, Plasma is still best for gaming. And no other Plasma under 40k performs better than the LG 32PC5RV.

Samsung 32A550 why?
1) Full Hd and you can see the difference sa games esp when you activate the "just scan" aspect ratio and partner that with a 1080p resolution. Tested this with a first generation ps3 game called VF5, we've been playing this for so long on a 720p set (Old Sammy R8) and when we activated 1080p + "just scan", grabe our friend who owns an arcade center in hk said it looks just like the high-end SEGA LINDBERG system (a high def arcade cabinet).
2) 5ms response time, I had this unit and even at very quick pans on an FPS game you get a smooth flow of the scene.
3) Game mode offers spot on input response time (very important when you play on-line) may lag na nga ang local connection natin, let's not add further lag by quirky input times ;)
Downside?
Too bright out of the box sa dynamic mode, pale naman pag naka standard but after calibration maganda na talaga!

I don't have this unit anymore and upgraded to an A650, kung under 40k lang ang A650 I guess that would be my pick^

Would love to hear any suggestion mga sir regarding what LCD or monitor that would fit in playing PS3. Maraming salamat po mga sir. :) By the way, okay din po kaya to? Samsung 22" Roseblack Glossy Finish 2233sw(1920x1080 Full HD, DVI) or mas maganda yung HP w2448hc? :)

well there would be a lot of considerations muna like the budget, playing distance, the video output you would want out of the game and if this will only be used for the ps3

solely use for ps3 po sir. Budget ko po is around 15-20k lang kasi. Ano po kaya masuggest nyo?

Maganda yung Samsung Series 3 na 32 inch or Panasonic 32LE8. Soon they'll go for around 25K or less. ;)

Hello guys, I'll be buying a small LCD for my office just for PS3 gaming (work and play does mix :D), so any advise will be of great help.
Like I said, this is just for gaming and nothing more, no dvd's, no blu-ray, just plain games. You guys can also include price.

Yes it's true, they don't have speakers...but a pair of Altec's or HK Sound Sticks would be better. :D

The T series (and 2333HD) are actually more expensive because they also have a TV tuner and a wealth of inputs including HDMI.
The 2333HD is around 15,000 while the T260HD is 22,000. (I haven't seen the T240HD, it seems to be selling the same price as the 260HD) It's all around the Gilmore PC shops or just your nearest Electroworld, Silicon Valley, etc., but of course it's cheaper on those PC shops in Gilmore. (I would suggest visiting Tipidpc.com for canvassing)
Honestly though, since you won't need the TV tuner and other inputs, you can just get the 2333SW at 10,000+, downside is you would need a HDMI->DVI adaptor since that doesn't have an HDMI port. The newer P2370G looks better but costs an extra 2,000 for the redesign. But if you don't mind paying the premium for the T260HD/23333HD why not? ;D
Also there are a wealth of options and better value-for-money in BenQ, Acer, HP...but they can't hold a candle to the sytlings of Samsung.

Thing is for the price of speakers, you could buy 32 inch lcds already. Unless of course, space is a concern. Nakakahinayang lang.

Really? Cool! I'm not too concerned about the way it sounds though. The last thing I want is for my staff to hear me play during work hours, while I slave drive them to reach their quotas :D :D :D

The best here are those with high contrast ratio so you have darker blacks. The 2333HD, T240 has low contrast ratios, and you are paying for other TV features that you don't need. Mas maganda pa for gaming yung 2333SW which I have, gamit ka lang ng HDMI-DVI cable or use a converter. You should be looking for those with 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratios para talagang happy ka :) Like the following models which are available locally:

that's the thing with the samsungs... usually the ones with 2ms response times like the t220 don't have true 1080 resolution. something like 1050...
conversely, the HD models are usually at 5ms. but the t240hd at 5ms was pretty quick in responding in my humble opinion.

Silicon Valley has a complete line of Samsung monitors. Gilmore shops would be cheaper since they do give discounts. PCWORX in Gilmore offers great prices. They're located at the 2nd and 3rd floor of the IT center (Building with the "little store" on the ground floor). Mas-walang tao sa 3rd floor. (They have 2 separate shops)
You may also look at the LG lh20 series. SnS was selling it for 23k. I've seen the lh20 with gaming-like graphics at Avent/Abensons in Greenbelt. From what I saw, it was very good.

Yeah these two models are the hot items in tipidpc now. Just like the plasma panasonics for our movies hehe! These models are newly released too so you are assured of the best LCD technology with low-energy consumption. Better get soon before stocks run out, not all dealers have them maybe because they are still pushing their older remaining models. PCWorx nga daw is also a cheap dealer, just near PCHub also in the Gilmore area. Wala lang testing ata dyan, unlike Home Theater stores which have displays. So it's favorable if you go when there are no other buyers, like closing time so you have time to meticulously check your lcd, or possibly compare 2 models side by side.

That's what I was suggesting rin kanina. 32 inch lcd's are almost the same price. Pero baka nga pangit if you have a 32" on your workstation. Mahirap di mapansin ang games mo. Hehe... buking agad.

The 23" models I mentioned above are P11-12,500 lang. For dual computer workstation with additional gaming purposes panalo yan. You won't use a 32" LCD for your computer right? In a family room or bedroom, pwde pa magsabay while everyone's watching cable or a movie, you can still play non-stop with a mini-setup on the side. also good if you have surround headphones for private gaming.
Good headphone only available in the US is the Tritton AXPro which has digital optical inputs and true separate drivers to deliver 5.1 surround sound. well, the headphones is another topic all together hehe

This does make a lot more sense. Since balak mo tago and not let your staff hear sounds coming from whatever source, a headphone would make the most sense. Lot more cost efficient.

there's a long thread dedicated to the 2333HD in tipidpc. Samsung even gave a free dvd player whenever you would purchase this model a few months back. it's a really popular model amongst those who have a ps3 but I read that a couple of them have experienced vertical lines which appeared after a couple of months. also there's a specific batch, November '08, which had faulty IR receivers.
some of them mentioned that the faulty models were the ones with panels from Chi Mei.

Baka bitin yan sir. Better to have a 1920x1080 16:9 LCD to enjoy PS3/Xbox 360 gaming. For games that support this resolution, iba ang detail talaga pag full 1080p monitor. And better if you have a high dynamic contrast ratio.
Carlo if you need an LCD with built-in speakers isa ding option itong Samsung 2494HS, it's P16,500 and I know the dealer they can deliver to your place pa with official receipt and full Samsung warranty. I haven't seen this model in Gilmore last week when I was there.

I'm using LA-22A450 HD ready TV... with 5ms, 10,000:1, 1680x1050, 720p / 1080i, accepts 1080p signals, mainly used as PC monitor for Home use... watching avi, mkv, dvd, HD materials workstation, playing PS One/ PS2 and PC games... has PIP function. got it @ 18,900 last year...
My suggestion for Video / Movie FREAKS choose Flat Panels with TV tuner since it has more features and fuctions (you can maximize picture quality)... and for Gaming or normal PC use other Flat Panels (without TV Tuner) are enough...

I agree with stick. Try the LA-22B450 as it comes with 2 HDMI ports and a slight face lift over the A450. I think you can get it for 17,500 now. :)

The good:
The Samsung SyncMaster P2370 is low-priced, beautifully designed, and offers very good overall performance with Full HD resolution. Also, it's one of the lightest monitors we've tested of any size.
The bad:
The Samsung SyncMaster P2370 includes only DVI as a connection option. Movie performance is disappointing, and it has a wobbly base.
The bottom line:
It skimps on a few features, but the Samsung SyncMaster P2370 is a stylish, low-priced 23-incher with very good performance.
If you were thinking of connecting the display to your standalone Blu-ray player, think again. To cut back on costs and to keep the monitor as thin as possible, Samsung includes a single DVI-D as the sole connection option. Neither HDMI nor even VGA connections are included. :(
In our Dark Screen test, backlight bleed through was noticeable on the top and bottom edges of the screen, suggesting that the display would not be able to display deep blacks when playing a movie
The P2370 achieved a brightness score of 239 candelas per square meter (cd/m2)--only slightly lower than Samsung's claimed 250 cd/m2 max. Its tested contrast ratio was slightly above the 1,000:1 claimed by Samsung and came in at a fairly close 1,064:1.
We used the P2370's Movie preset to check out "War of the Worlds" ("WotW") on DVD and "House of Flying Daggers" ("HoFD") on Blu-ray. In "WotW" we found the color quality was worse than expected with slightly washed out faces and a slight yellowish tint. Deep blacks--a critical attribute for good movie playback--eluded the P2370. In "HoFD" we saw more accurate color, but those deep blacks we enjoyed on the Dell G2410 were still nowhere to be seen. Also, picture sharpness was not quite as fine as on the G2410 as subtitles looked slightly blurred. We found that the Dynamic Contrast preset worked best for movie watching. With Dynamic Contrast on, we only noticed the screen darkening on scenes where the screen is 90 percent black or more, such as the end credits and during fades to black. In the DC preset blacks looked darker and the colors, slightly more full.
We looked at the game Crysis on the P2370 in its Game preset and saw a clean picture with no signs of ghosting during fast movement.

I'm planning to buy an LCD TV and will used it more on my PS3 hehe. un nalng kulang ko sa bahay eh.
Anyway i have a budget of 35k-ish and was hoping to get the best out of that budget. i saw some model already and was considering some of their advantages over the other.

I have read so far na i would not need Full HD since 32 incher lang ako and wont notice the difference. 8 feet cguro layo ko sa tv pag sa bahay. is it true?
sino saka nila ang mataas ang refresh rate? pinaka malapit maging true motion? will i need it for gaming and will it be noticeable if i watch some sky cable channels and bluray?
i'm asking these question coz im leaning for sony just beacuse i want uniformity... pero if the other 2 can offer much more greater quality and gaming expirience id go for them.... so help naman poh..... thanks.

Get the 32" LG LH70. The 120Hz would do wonders with your games and will give you new gaming experience.

my old sony lcd ( which was wall mounted pretty high) got totally submerged during ondoy :'(. the estimated repair price is 80k :o. can you guys recommend what current LCD gets the most bang for the buck under 120k but will bring out the goodness of my ps3? ;D hope you guys can help.

my old sony lcd ( which was wall mounted pretty high) got totally submerged during ondoy :'(. the estimated repair price is 80k :o. can you guys recommend what current LCD gets the most bang for the buck under 120k but will bring out the goodness of my ps3? ;D hope you guys can help.
For gaming, you really need a 2mpx Full HDTV to maximize the graphic pixel presentation. Since you have tried Sony, we recommend the 40s550 at P60K. You may wish to check out the review of this TV under the topic: Flat Panel Reviews Thread. You won't regret for owning this Sony TV for the second time. ;)

i'm using a 2 month old panasonic 42" lz80
its 1080p and got for45-48k
its excellent for ps3 gaming
i tried sony hitachi and samsung lcds (2005-2008 720p max 1080i models)
so far the panny 42 lz80 tops them all for ps3 gaming
sharp detail and vibrant colors
now for watching fast moving and predominantly dark scened movies there is much
to be desired...

I recommend 42 LH70 from LG, the price I think is 63K for cash at Abensons. I think they have larger size of the same model. You may wanna consider it.

i went around looking, i liked the samsung 46" series 6 and sony 46" w series. the sony was offered to me for 103k while the samsung was 89k cash. any other brands/models i should look for or i choose between the two? :-\

sorry ah, pero it's hard to ask everyone to give your recommendations. mas maguguluhan lang po kayo. others may have read something good about a brand on paper pero they have not actually seen it. so go and demo with your PS3. just choose reputable resellers. take Ereply's offer and go to his shop. mas maganda kung nandun siya sa shop para maasikaso kayo ng todo. good luck.

so 120hz is essential in a gaming tv? is that the same as "game mode" for some brands? i'm currently looking for a 32" lcd tv for my ps3. i have a plasma already which is great for movies and the picture is tolerable when hooked up to the ps3, but i can still see some blur in fast moving games. i actually noticed this early on because the ps3 was previously hooked up to our old crt tv before we switched to plasma.
from my experience, the most important factor for gaming is the quality of motion handling in a tv so what do the guys who have tested lcds purely for games recommend?

I recommend 42 LH70 from LG, the price I think is 63K for cash at Abensons. I think they have larger size of the same model. You may wanna consider it.
sa atutomatic centre, 62k lang.. :) sa features and specs, this is the best lcd imho.

gurus question lang po. im planning to get a 37-42 Panel soon. it will be used mostly for Xbox360/DVDs/Digibox. ano ba magandang options? price range is about 40-55K
ive read stuff about the Panny 42C10 and so far so good. maganda naman daw. Other contenders i have in mind are Sanyo 42K20 @50-53K and Samsung 37 Series5 @45-54K LCD TVs.
any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
