Have you tried VLC (VideoLAN) media player? Version 1.0.0 is finally out and features MKV support.

Try: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

If you're using one of the Core 2 Duo models, shouldn't be a problem.

thanks sir firewired!  that's great news.  cool kasi mac - not for everyday use though :)

sold my macbook because i couldn't stand the slow mouse and purposely opposite controls from PC :)

Curious—what makes you say a Mac isn't useful for everyday use?

Also, WRT opposite controls—have you ever stopped to wonder how many times you press Ctrl vs. how many times you press Alt?

Now, which is stronger—your pinkie or your thumb?
