btw, i've played Spiderman-3(widescreen) again on PS3 and compared it to the GAMER movie na DVD-9 copy, bat kaya napaganda ng quality nun sa GAMER (fullscreen) ?

those from HK or China are not really BD but are actually DVD's which are encoded in the AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) format at 720p .

It's not feasible, but that doesn't mean pirate copies in true BD discs don't exist.
High def fakes in AVCHD came out around 2008, and they were reported on the web in the same year. Unfortunately, those reports are outdated, as there have been fakes in true BD discs since last year.
Try playing these so called BD's in your DVD players and im pretty sure it will be read by the DVD player.
And I'm pretty sure AVCHD discs will not play on any DVD player.
To play AVCHD discs, you need a BD player that is AVCHD-compatible (not all BD players can read AVCHD).
Anyhow, i've bought some of these discs in nice looking BD boxes (metal cases) @ 70 pesos per disc in our place and the picture quality is quite good in my 42" LCD.
There is no DVD player that can play AVCHD.
Those discs are standard DVDs. They were sourced from BD, transcoded to DVD format, then burned on a DVD disc.
Check on your PC. File structure of DVD is different from AVCHD. DVD video container is VOB (Video Object); AVCHD video container is m2ts (MPEG-2 Transport Stream).
Picture quality of the P70 Quiapo cross-converted BD to DVD?
As long as you have a static picture, the picture quality is good. But once the picture moves, the motion cadence error is obvious.
When picture is static, quality is the same as a regular DVD. When in motion, regular DVD is better. Therefore, regular DVD is still better.
On the other hand, picture quality of an AVCHD 1080p is astounding for such a small file size. Almost the same as a real BD, as long as the movie's runtime is not too long.

These are BD copies from China. BD talaga and same quality in terms of PQ and SQ kaya lang 25GB discs lang ang ginagamit kaya some of the extra features are missing if the original content exceeds the 25GB capacity but now they're coming out with 50GB versions para buo na. Kaya lang better buy the original kasi lalabas na mas mura pa rin if you're patient and wait for prices to go down or somebody sells theirs at bargain prices.

I wanted to start a new topic about this. Luckily I dug this up.
I was very unfortunate to have been duped to buy a "hong kong" blu ray by a seller from Sulit. Newbie lang ako nun sa BD e. Yun pala japeyks. Nalaman ko na lang after a few weeks kasi nun ko lang talaga nicheck. Blu ray talaga siya kasi my PS3 recognizes it as a BD ROM.
Anyway, kulay dark blu/black-ish yung ilalim ng disc. Tapos yung isa, Transformers na white casing na may tatak na Blu Ray then nakalagay sa cover art "HD-DVD". I was so stupid to not have checked it all so I was also at fault. I got 5 fake BDs pa at 500p. Sheesh. I'll charge it to experience na lang to help out other collectors who are just starting.
There are FAKE/PIRATED/BOOTLEG Blu Rays. Hindi DVD9 but real blu rays. No such thing as "Hong Kong" version. Stay away from those bootleggers on Sulit. In fact, I want to take them all down nga if there's a way just to discourage the spreading of those pirated blu rays.
I'll probably contact my friends in the IPO and notify them about those sellers.

- It is still a Blu-Ray disc, vary in 2 sizes which is 25Gb & 50Gb
- this type of BD will play on the PS3 & any BD player.
- it's hard to differentiate the quality between the pirated BD & original to the normal consumer eye without the right gadgets (Full HD TV + 5.1 surround sound system)
- some of the new ones are 1 - 1 exact copy with minor compression issues on video audio bit-rate.
"So what? it's still a BD movie, it's hard to tell, the quality is good. What's the big fuss all about?"
- compression issues. pictures might be a bit pixelated in some area or there's a lot of 'noise' in the background due to this issues.
- there's no extras, behind the scenes. alternate ending, bonus, spoofs n what not to be included in the pirated BD.
- interactive menus might not be working properly.
- that feeling of being cheated after you're willing to spend money for original product just because you can or to show support for the industry.
"How to differentiate between original Blu-Ray with the pirated/imitation copy?"
- that's one tough questions. If were looking for small defect in quality over cover-art, boxes, or special edition boxes it hard to tell due to a lot of these material can be made look exactly the same as the originals.
- well when you bought the disc you might only get 1 disc instead of 2 as shown on review sites.
(for example like when one of my friend who'd bought The Ultimate Matrix Collection. on first look it was exactly the same... yet out of the 7 disc that he suppose to get, there's only 6 of em. What's missing was The Matrix Digital Copy (an extra copy of the already supplied BD but on DVD -could be seen on this link: The Matrix Ultimate Collection Youtube Review)
truth be told, we need to research more in this subject of differentiating between originals n imitation since a lot of us are buying BD movie online & didn't realise we were spending our good money on scams & fake product.

ininform ko na lahat ng bumili nun hong kong japeyks (at least yun mga nagfeedback) about it. kawawa din naman kasi sila. 750p hingi tapos japeyks pala. tsk tsk.
so i hope everyone does their part in sharing awareness para di magoyo mga gusto magkablu ray. hehe

single discs lang pag pirated, afaik. walang extra discs. check the color of the bottom disc din. if dark blue most likely fake. although meron ding fake na hindi dark blue yung bottom ng disc. kaya mahirap na talaga malaman. >:(

UPDATE:
I went to Metrowalk earlier today. I checked the pirated dvd stalls and asked about blu rays. Lo and behold, available nga dun. Both the DVD9 fakes and the real blu ray imitation. Dinaldal ko yung nagbebenta. Apparently nung April this year lang dumating sa Metrowalk yung mga ganun. They're selling it at 400pesos and willing siya bumaba hanggang 300pesos. haha
Mga 25gig blu rays yung andun. wala ako nakita 50gig. Certified 100% "Hong Kong" blu ray japeyks. So again, iwas iwas sa Sulit website sa mga "Hong Kong" blu ray kasi peke yun. 750pesos ang bentahan pero 300-400 pesos lang at your local pirated store. hahaha

As far as quality goes... well... i am no hardcore video and audio guru, pero wala ako masyadong diff na nakikita btween these and the origs that i own. kumpleto yung mga extra and special features nya. I own about 8 japeyks titles P350 kuha ko sa contact ko from moonwalk paranaque.
Pero im not one for bootlegs.
Kung PS3 nga at xbox360 puro originals ang games ko, sa movies pa? There is so much more value that you put in to something legit vs something dodgy.

actually, di nga halata kasi HD talaga and maganda kopya ng movie ng mga japeyks na yan. Nahalata ko lang when I played sa PS3 kasi yung video bitrate ng mga japeyks, mas mababa compared sa Orig. Check mo yan sir by pressing select during playback. Yun lang naman yata plus you're lucky kasi gumagana yung extras/bonuses. Malas lang sa japeyks pag yung orig eh nilagay sa extra BD yung mga extras/bonus features. :D

And tama yung observations na lower SQ yung pirated copy compared to the original. Had tested it myself on 3 BD players including PS3.

The guy talks too lowly about the bootleg, yet he himself owned quite a number of it... How many do you really need to do a youtube demo? Something fishy here. Ang sweet mo naman, gumastos ka pa para ma 'inform' kami.

However - what led me to my assumptions above was the fact that i saw several bootleg blurays and bluray ripped dvds.
Oh, and toward the end of the video, he mentioned, and i quote "i bought these fake blurays to inform people that these are available in the market and to inform people that fake blurays exist"
Which leads me to ask.
1. How many do you really need to purchase to prove that what you have is not the real thing?
2. That is about a thousand peso investment on the 3 bootleg blurays. That's rather charitable and noble consodering that the purpose is 'to inform people that fake blurays exist'
This statement alone made it seem that he knew what he was buying and was not fooled into buying them. i would have thought differently if he mentioned that he was fooled by a seller into thinking they were real ones.

Masaklap jan sir yung blu ray na fake daw, 5 nabili nya from the new member here. Sinabi din daw sakanya na hong kong blu ray. Told him mura nga if brand new yun so he bought it and bowm, japeyks.haha
Pati brother ko nabiktima din ng isa pang tagasulit. Transformers binili nya, japeyks! Haha
I guess yung dvd9 yung sadya nyang binili talaga. Ive seen those din sa mga dvd pirate stalls. Kala ko din blu ray quality. Nung tinest, ampanget! Haha
Pero yung blu ray japeyks, mahirap madistinguish yung vid quality from d orig. HD na din kasi. :/ packaging na lang talaga babantayan ng buyers.

Yup! Need to watch out these days. Your friend did very well manage to point out most of the japeyks tell tales. And as mentioned, they also need to watch out for those 50 or 25 gig stickers too. Wala pa akong nabibili na orig na may mga sticker na ganon.

sa new fakes yata, may stickers. pero yung nabili nung brother ko, walang sticker. same cover artwork sa orig tas 500pesos pa binenta sakanya. haha. when i saw it and tested the extras na di gumagana, dun na ako nagduda talaga. hehe

Na encounter ko na rin itong 25gb bluray HK na ito, way back sa Quiapo pa. Yung naka istante pa yung lagayan, 500 pesos each benta nila, 400 pesos pag 3 up. Pangit pa packaging noon, halatang japeyks kaya di ako na-enganyo noon.
Then last saturday, may nagbenta sakin na bluray HK din @ 100 pesos each. Binenta daw sa kanya ng barkada nya, kala nya dvd9 bluray copy lang....yun pala 25GB bluray discs pala, kay di gumana sa dvd player nya.
Binili ko na rin, 3 pcs yun (Green Lantern, Saving Private Ryan at Taken).
Maganda na packaging nila ngayon (except for taken na French sulat sa cover), may slipcase na. Pero di mawawala yung Chinese character after nung title nya. At may sticker nga na 25GB sa unahan.
Yung Green Lantern lang yung may speacial features, yung S.P.R. at Taken wala.
PQ halos parehas lang, SQ same din (DTS-HD master din), sub title marami rin languages.
Mura nga pero walang re-sale value. Kung for viewing purpose ok na siguro. But I'll stick pa rin sa ORIG.
Post ko pics bukas para aware kayo sa hitsura.

I honestly would love to do a side by side comprasion of the actual movie content (video and audio) of an orig disk and these bootlegs.
I reckon most of the folks who would patronize these products are only in it for the movie's full hd content and not care too much for the special features.
That being said, people who buy these products and people who own loaded nmts/hdds (which doesnt quite get the same heat around here apparently) really are no different from each other imho. I guess some folks would rather have something that's ready to play and and store separately rather than to wait for a long ass download or disk content transfer process.

always look out for the Silver blu ray logo. pag pirated, clear lang yung logo ng blu ray. meron din minsan color white logo ng blu ray japeyks. Wala pa ako nakitang japeyks with a silver logo ng blu ray.

Onga e, pagdating sa durability di ko pa masabi if kasing durable ng legit bd's ang bd-r's na ito.
Ngapala, yung sound nung Avengers, Thor at TF3 are all in 7.1 channels Dolby True-HD & DTS-HD master respectively. Galing talaga mangopya hehe.

korek ka jan. pero meron din silang slip na walang rainbow effect. Ean ko ba sa mga jack sparrows na yan. Di ko alam kung sinasadya nilang markahan ng X6 and chinese characters and gawing rainbow crap yung covers nila. buti na lang ganun. at least may palatandaan na japeyks. haha

for blu ray movies which aren't that good and which lack extras, just downloading them would be the way to go. why would you pay for a lackluster release, right? so screw the movie company which released such lackluster blu ray. :D

If it's only 100 I might bite. Will be more practical for me instead of downloading BD ISO's (or even HD rips) because of my very slow internet connection. Haha! But, only for those films I don't plan to collect and would just want to watch once. :P

I agree. Pero at this point kasi, i personally think that people are already made aware that these bds exist. And im sure folks are smart enough to know the difference na. (Presyo at itsura pa lang pa lang)
At this point kasi it has become too informative to the point that it promotes curiosity... And confusion.
Confusion in a sense that one would think 'wait a sec... So it's not ok to talk about bootleg bds but its fine to discuss how many movies i have in my tera sized hdd and media player... Coz all the movies i have in this thing are all legit'

i have one buyer a few weeks ago told me, she got copies of recent movies na din, avengers pati, kasi inalok ko nga na meron ako, gulat nga ako e.. ang sabi lang naman ng seller sa buyer ko, HK made, kaya mura, same rates as seen at the thread, SQ humahabol naman, pero kung ipang didisplay nga naman, origs pa din siyempre. Star Wars Saga for 6 disc at 2500 daw, sabi nya mura nga, tahimik na lang ako kasi alam naman nya jack sparrow yun with a very bad casing, just for the sake of having the titles on hand.

If 25GB lang yan bro the video must be encoded kasi may mga movie na more than 25gb video and audio na combine. Audio pa lang na HD 5gb na minimum sama mo pa dts and DD tapos ibang ibang language pa. Pero malamang english lang yan wala siya ibang language na.

Not necessarily. Hong Kong does produce legitimate BDs. Ewan ko lang yung binebenta ng seller.
Edit: As per the seller's recent post, pirated BDs nga ang binebenta niya.

Siguro if rediculously cheap & has the 25GB marking on the case, its definitely bootleg. Madalas akong dumadaan sa Quiapo to buy Fuji apples for my kids. I've seen 3 stores there who sells pirated 25gb bd's.
I also saw that they're selling also 3D bluray movies, without the 2D version, so kung ayaw kung gusto mo manuod ng 2D lang, you'll buy separate copy ng 2D hehe.

A bit OT but aren't 3D TV's have a feature that let you watch 3D content in 2D just in case you get tired of 3D? I know my TV has this feature that I was initially unaware of until the technician who wall mounted the TV have shown me how it works.

One legit Hongkong online BD & DVD retail store is DDDHouse.com. I already had purchased several popular Asian BD titles not available in Amazon.com.

Selling of pirated / non-legit BDs are not allowed in PDVD. However, from time to time, some bad apples do show up. AFAIK, all of these rare instances were eventually reported to the Mods & the appropriate actions were done to safeguard the forum.
Compared to most other forums, regular PDVD members look after each other's backs. Of course, no online forum marketplace can be 100% safe (despite all caution, scammers do infiltrate PDVD now & again), but I would boldly say that transacting here is safer than most other forums. Personally speaking, in my more than 11 years of buying & selling here, I luckily was never scammed or had a totally bad experience.
