Title: Not HT but My Audio System
Post by: edwin on Oct 11, 2011 at 12:17 AM: Guys please bear with me. I just want to show you the enjoyment i have by doing my audio selling thing. I am able to play around with the equipments that come by my system.

Currently have a Consonance Ref 1.1 preamp and Ref 2.2 cd player to try before a buyer grabs it. The amp and speakers are mine.

Hindi naman lahat ng ito ay sa akin. Mga pabenta sa akin ito at just taking the opportunity to listen to them. At syempre, all equipment that come my way, palaging malinis ito pagalis sa akiin.

Yeah this is the place for me to release stress, with a few drinks of beer ;)

Post by: edwin on Oct 11, 2011 at 08:28 PM: To Louie_18, Blackie and Cjtjader, thanks for liking my place and set-up. Simple lang naman talaga ito and just making the most of it. Ika nga just bringing out the potential of each component thru parts upgrade, mods and tweaks.

You might be amazed on what the plumb bob can do. Putting it at the back of your speaker will move the stage at the back and infront will make the stage of the music more upfront. This is a cheap but effective tweak. Try it as it will not cost much.

By the way, we made a comparison between the original totem beaks and the plumb bob, and the cheaper of the two won.

ayus, malamig na serbesa habang nakikinig ng sounds....tsalap tsalap nga mag-relax from work pag ganyan ka comfi ang iyong mga gamit... ::) ::) ::)
sir, sori for being so ignorant about the sponge bob i mean plumb bob thingy ;D , ( i didnt research it yet sa net) but what specifically does it do? 2nd is do you put any felt pads underneath it so as not to dent the top of speaker/s? and my last question, is it applicable to any type of speaker/s or any type of music that you are playing? thanks sir. :)

It will affect the soundstage of your speaker depending of where you position it on top. This will be system dependent though. Yeah, better put some felt pads underneath to prevent scratching your speaker. I had just tried it on conventional box speaker design, with the tweeter oriented on top of the other drivers. Try mo dahil mura lang naman ito.

Ang system mo ang considered kong impressive :)

I was still staying on a rented flat the time when Doc came here for a tour. Ngayon i could do whatever i want to make it as nice as i can for my liking. Ngayon ipon muna for further renovation of the house.

Post by: edwin on Oct 28, 2011 at 12:17 PM: Here is the Morel Octave in my set-up. This was a quick try (kaya nakapatong lang sa speaker ko) as the new owner was in a hurry to go home and try it out on his system.

A lot was inquiring previously on these speakers kaya lang mga nagdadalawang isip. Sayang ang opportunity but anyway sa isang Pinoy din naman ito napunta.

The Morels are way smaller than my reference 3A, but don't let the size fool you. It sound really, really big for it size.

My speakers are the Reference 3A MM Gen 2. These were the previous model to the latest De Capo. I had upgraded the single crossover cap to Mundorf Supreme and internal cables to Neotech UPOCC and silver wires.

The tweeter were already upgraded too to the latest used in the De Capo i.

Why not get the same brand as i have. I could send you the latest model, the De Capo i or the Dulcet. In my opinion, better the Silverline range of speakers.

I'm putting up my HT and inspired to see your set-up so clean and soothing. How high is your TV from the floor pala? Can't say if it's 42 or 50 in TV too. Eye level ba sur kung manonood ka from the sofa?

Very nice to hear naging parang inspirasyon pa ang set-up ko for your plan to put up your own home theater system.

It's a 50 inch plasma. It's about 3 feet from the floor, making it not eye level when siting on the sofa. I had installed it on this height for a later option if i need to get a higher two or three tier rack if i need to get more equipments in the future. ;D

A Luxman PD-277 and Gram Amp 2 SE. Awaiting tomorrow to get the Clearaudio Aurum Classic Wood cartridge.

Eager to set it up this weekend with the help of my buddy Jomar :).

After a few days of playing, it is improving quite well. I got the cartridge quite new kaya siguro still in the process of breaking-in. A lot more tweaking next.

This is to replace the stock walmart supply that comes with them. I tried the best components that i could get like schotkky rectifiers and nichicon gold tune caps, to name a few.

Was there improvement? I got a much bigger and effortless sound. Improvement from top to bottom frequency.

Last night i tried my spare cartridge, a Goldring 1012GX, given to me by a nice seller of a Rega RB300 many moons ago. It replaced a Clearaudio Aurum Classic Wood.

The Goldring was way of an improvement over the Clearaudio. It was right from top to bottom (bass is now present at the right quantity and quality). Now again enjoying my journey ;).

Jen, biglaan lang itong Valab dahil bumigay iyong zero dac ko. Nag "looking for" ako ng cheap dac at may nag-reply dito.

Si Jomar nag subok din maghanap pero di sinuwerte at sa oversea siya nakabili ng used. Sa ebay, readily available siya.

Jen, kaya nga lang kailangan sensitive ang speakers mo for the clearday kung hindi medyo manipis siya tumunog. Unless you get the shotgun model.
