meron ba sa inyo may alam kung paano mag region hack ng unit na to? out of the box kasi it's region 3 for dvds and i would like to make it region free para naman magamit ko yung mga region 1s ko..
i tried google and found one hack problem is i need another model of a samsung remote control and/or a logitech harmony..which is wala ako and wala ring mahirman..

I think that particular remote is available only in Europe and India.

good news guys! i managed to unlock my player making it region free (applicable to dvds only)..using the supplied remote control without the "repeat" button..just follow the steps below and use the "STOP" button instead of the repeat..i did the steps three times before it worked..now i can enjoy my region 1s..woot! sweet!
here's what i did:
1. Power ON. No disc.
2. Press REPEAT button.
3. Press 7-6-8-8-4 (or your region code).
3. The current machines region code will display at the top left of the screen.
4. Press 9 to change to free region.
1- 29334
2- 57538
3- 56732
4- 76884
5- 53814
6- 24462
-
thanks this is awesome news!
Unfortunately, itdidn't work for me... Tried many times, ayaw lumabas ng region code.
-
@halvert
try this..open the disc tray then hold the "info" button for several seconds til the info about the player shows up..tingnan mo kung ano coding nung unit mo..mine's region A for bds and region 3 for dvds..then after that do the trick posted above..di naman necessarily mabilis ang pag pindot basta tama lang ang sequence..i did the trick 3x before it worked..
before the hack i tried playing the ff dvds:
incubus: alive at red rocks (region free) - ok
american gangster (jack sparrow) - ok
transformers (region 1) - did not play*
spiderman 1 (region 1) - did not play*
* this image was shown when trying to play region 1 dvds
(http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/articles/regionalcodeenhancement/RCEMessage.jpg)
then after doing the trick/hack di na lumalabas yung image at napeplay na ang region 1s ko..pero sa info region A and region 3 pa rin ang nakalagay..try and try lang baka sakaling gumana. meron rin kasi akong nabasa sa interwebs na they did try the trick like 10x before nag work..
hopefully meron din trick para ma region free ang bds..

if your unit is asian eto ang code na kelangan i-input:
1. Power ON. No disc.
2. Press STOP button.
3. Press 5-6-7-3-2.
3. The current machines region code will display at the top left of the screen.
4. Press 9 to change to free region.
-
thanks, will try again!
-
tried this a over a 100x before as this had been circulating in the internet for some time now. no luck on my c5900. :( however, it did the trick on my samsung dvd htz. :)
-
ayaw talaga gumana sa akin! i pressed info and it is Region A and region 3. but when i insert a region 1 dvd, that map doesn't appear. just the words "please check the region of your dvd" on a black screen. and no matter how many times i press stop and 56732, no region code appears on my tv.
dapat ba mag-firmware update ako para lumabas yung region code?
hayyyy...malas.
-
Try to check daw your firmware..let's compare. Try ko post dito fw version ko when i get home..
-
i clicked on info and it says my firmware is BSP D5100XPB 1016.2 i have not updated it. oh well, napansin ko lang, di maganda yung ibang lumang dvds ko pag dito nakalagay... mas maganda sa ordinary dvd player na rca cable lang, not hdmi

I just used the remote included in the package & followed the procedures as posted in this thread. At first, it was a bit frustrating as the player's region coding was not appearing on the left-hand corner of the screen. But I just repeated the procedure several times before the region coding finally appeared & I was able to change it to region free for DVD.

Thanks. Did you pressed the Stop button right after the Power On button, or did you wait for the Samsung Logo to appear or until the Menu appears completely?
-
^ I waited for the menu to appear completely.
At first, nothing seems to be happening. I tried to press the code 5-6-7-3-2 for region 3. I also tried the codes 7-6-8-8-4 & even 2-9-3-3-4, but the results were all unsuccessful. I tried these codes several times until about the 10th attempt at 5-6-7-3-2 before the region 3 coding finally appeared on the upper left hand corner. After this, I simply pressed 9 & the region coding was changed to 9. I tested my R1 DVDs & they are now playing fine.
-
Good to know that you also managed to make the codes work coz some are having a hard time eh. Patience is a virtue. Hehe!
For those who already upgraded to the latest FW, is it good? And do we need to do the region hack again for the unit to be region free on dvds again?
-
Can this BDP play AVCHD? Will the new firmware update enable playing of AVCHD? Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
I have an LG 32LV3400 HDTV would it work seamlessly if I pair it with this Samsung BD-D5100? I am planning to get one because it's more affordable compared to the other brands.
Thanks!
-
Yung mga nakapag region-free nung kanilang BD-D5100, may eject button ba yung remote controller nyo?
-
^ Yes, my remote has the "eject" button.
-
yep meron..

Some alternative to unlock region of the BD-D5100:
1. Make sure no disc or usb stick is inserted into the player.
2. Turn on your your blu ray player.
3. When the main menu appears, press the 'STOP' button (on the actual Blu
Ray Player and NOT on the remote control) followed by the region code your
player is currently locked to – depending on which country you are in (eg: in
Australia (use the remote control to press the numbers) " 7 6 8 8 4".
4. Press the 'STOP' button (on the actual Blu Ray Player and NOT on the
remote control
5. In the top right corner you will see your region code flash (eg: 4 for
Australia).
6. Press (using the remote control) 9. and momentarily you should see a small
9 flash, but on the top left side of the screen this time.
7. Turn off and on and your BD-D5100 is now region free.
Well, this doesnt work for me either. Hhahahhaha.

I tried this last night, I was able to change the region to "9". but when I inserted my R4 DVD, it won't play :(
-

-
About firmware update. I suggest wag, kasi magkakaroon ng cinavia yung BD player (provided that your current firmware does not have).
-
well thanks for that info!

guys, ask ko lang, when you turn on bd, do u wait for "no disc" on top? as in, wait mo muna mag loading - then "no disc" bago pindut ung stop?
nahirapan ako e... thanks for input guys...
-

meron bang nag seservice na gumagawa nito? nakakapagod na e.. ayaw gumana sa akin..
thanks in advance..
-
try and try lang sir minsan kasi several attempts pa bago gumana..di rin naman need na mabilisan ang pag pindot basta lang tama ang sequence.
-
got it to work. hahaha...
kaso, i used a universal remote, rca brand, truy to get the code of samsung bd player. then, i searched for a button in the remote na may repeat. yes! found it!!. then, tried the code. nagawa ko in just 1 try. hehehe..
for those na nafrustrate na at ayaw mapagana ung code... try a universal remote... hehehe...
-
Finally got a universal RCA remote control. Walang repeat button, so i pressed info button and the code. Was able to change the region! Now dvd region free! Ang tagal ko!

Naka update po ba yung firmware ng BD player nyo (nung nag region unlock kayo)?
If yes at least na unlock, but if not, I suggest dont upgrade because of Cinavia protection
More than 5 years na pero di ko pa rin na uunlock yung BD player ko na ito
-
Nope, no firmware update for me. Buti na lang.
-
anong model nung RCA remote mo?
-
Medyo luma na, rcu600dsn. Walang bluray player, dvd pa lang. Sa landmark, 300 pesos yata.
-
It worked with my player. Thanks.
