July 2018 Update
************************************************************************************************************
Some changes....

Pioneer SX-1250 serving HT and Audio duties,

Audio
Alon Model IV and Rythmik F15 (Both are sealed systems)

HT
JBL L112 and Klipsch SW112 (Both are ported systems)

No Filters, Both speakers are run full range

This is the best setup I have ever had, I always struggled with using one sub for Audio and HT. Audio, lower crossover point vs HT's higher crossover point. Using 2 different sets of speakers for Audio and HT, I no longer have to fiddle with the sub setting. I also enjoy the added benefit of using a ported sub for HT and Sealed for Audio.

Etong setup ang gusto ko...para sa mga pinanganak na semi-hearing impaired, yep, my right ear is deaf. It's been like that since i was born, but i love music very much, i even play the guitar.

Hope to be able to save up and build one of these.

Nice setup sir...you're the ONE!!

for several months na , i dont bother with pulling the speakers out,  although mas maganda yung image when its far from the walls. Right now mas na enjoy ko yung "music" rather than concentrating on the image, most of the time nga nasa tabi ako ng sub,  i am not even facing the speakers  ;D

Congrats sir! noob question, pano naka integrate yung F15?
Title: Re: Qguy's the ONE Setup (2 channel)
Post by: qguy on Feb 21, 2012 at 12:10 PM
Integration was pretty much done by ear, I  just set the settings to a max of extension 50 hz, high damping and 14 hz extension. Then I just played with the fine crossover knob (I guess I am set at 35-40 hz). I did not use the PEQ, as I was already happy with the results that I was getting.

if you meant how it was connected, then its connected by speaker cable

Congrats sir! noob question, pano naka integrate yung F15?

Yes sir i mean yung connection. Wala ata sub preout yung amp, so from amp to sub's line level input then line level out to speakers tama po ba  ??? ???
Title: Re: Qguy's the ONE Setup (2 channel)
Post by: qguy on Feb 21, 2012 at 08:05 PM
Speaker output from amp using speaker wire to speaker inputs ng subwoofer, basically you connect the subwoofer like a regular speaker.  Then connect another set of speaker wire to your amp going to your "front/main" speakers.

Added July 2012

Onkyo Integrated Amplifier solid state, about 65 watts
Infinity RS 4001 (1989 Model),  three way with 8 inch woofer

When I got this the infinity, it was in poor shape, tweeter was not working, Enclosure was water damaged and the enclosure was really realy dirty. I almost walked away from purchase, but I said to myself, i traveled about an hour and half to get here might as well get it, when i got home and saw all the damage parts, somehow I got buyers remorse, as it needed a lot of work.... well it paid off... the Solid state Onkyo paired with Infinity was bright, forward and in your face which is a total opposite to the tubed Cayin and Usher combo, basically I get to enjoy a wider variety of music due to the oppsing characters of each combo ...

Congrats! Likewise, I'm torn between S/S class D and tube.  :D Both have different characters for different types of music.

Btw, instead of matching the color with the same color ng masilya, you can also try a contrasting color for your masilya.

Actually mahilig din ako sa HT,  Yung screen size ko is about 50 feet diagonal.  I just need to pay 200 to 300 once a week to watch movies. :-). Katabi ko lang kasi yung mga Movie Houses.

Seriously may "HT setup" din ako, pero 2.1 channel lang, HK DVD player , Pioneer amp, Pioneer speakers with JBL subwoofer, but their seldom used for movies, its being used daily by my wife for her aerobic exercise.

How were you able to control the gain ng different amps feeding the tweeter and woofer, did you use an electronic crossover ?

Planning to do the same to my Usher X-719, SX1050 (120 watts/ch solid state) for the woofer and Cayin A-70T (30 watts/Ch Tube class A) for the tweets.

No additional gears for the season, but planning on adding a LCD tv to the mix, para experience ko naman ang HT, sayang yung 15 inch na subwoofer hehehe

Wala pa akong makitang vintage amp lately na type ko restore, hirap maghanap.

The capacitors I get from Watson sa may Raon, mostly Nichicon and Rubycon, you just need to tell them to give you those brands

Kaya yan sir. Iba ang delivery ng speaker pag ang limit eh mechanical na and not the amp power. Like what they say when over amplified..every ounce is squeezed to the last drop. Ingat lang sa volume control. Kaput yang tweeter agad pag nasobrahan.

possible, but since you are using the same power traffo, power is not quadrupled as in theory but only doubled practically....

the amp section has a power limiter that activates when output power reaches 300 watts into 4 ohms, so you'll be able to get 600 W bridged into 8 ohms.

indeed they are, i was thinking metal TO-3's but actually they are plastic packaged and the 4 legs is because two collectors are brought out, they are high speed output trannies...if you can not find them you will be forced to mod your amp..how many devices do you need?

Sanken has MT200 type power trannies that are just as good, 3 legged trannies are ok to use in case you will need to replace them.....

my experience with pioneers is that they are easier to repair, hindi sirain compared to Sansui's....

True,  plus the boards are well spaced and if you have a problem with the volume or tone controls, its easy to find which board has the problem.

Thats the alternative transistor for the SX1980.

I was just thinking if you can consider them as replacement for the output transistors since even the guys from diyaudio and audiokarma are having difficulties in sourcing out the original ones (4 legs)...

Just my 2 centavos...  ;D

YES, you can as several units have done the transistor replacement.

Some changes....

Pioneer SX-1250 serving HT and Audio duties, No Filters, Both speakers are run full range

Audio
Alon Model IV and Rythmik F15 (Both are sealed systems)

HT
JBL L112 and Klipsch SW112 (Both are ported systems)

This is the best setup I have ever had, I always struggled with using one sub for Audio and HT. Audio, lower crossover point vs HT's higher crossover point. Using 2 different sets of speakers for Audio and HT, I no longer have to fiddle with the sub setting. I also enjoy the added benefit of using a ported sub for HT and Sealed for Audio.
