It's official, Dec. 4th is the release date of The Dark Knight Rises in both BD and DVD. I'm mostly looking forward to the Bat cowl package version ;D I remeber during The Dark Knight DVD release in 2008, I pre-ordered the Batpod edition from Astro...I wonder if they or Odyssey woud have the same promo this time 4 years later ::)
-
Looking forward din ako dito sir. ;D
-
Me too! Kaso pang DVD lang ako :'(
-
Naku sir, kung maganda TV nyo tapos DVD kukunin mo baka malungkot lang kayo. Yung The Dark Knight DVD napaka-pangit nung video -- parang VCD ang dating. Baka ganun rin ang gawin nila sa DVD release nito.
-
Note also that as per the R1 release details, the only extra material on the DVD will be a "Journey of Bruce Wayne" behind the scenes featurette. As is the norm now, the bulk of the special features will be Blu-Ray exclusives.

Oo nga e, sir. Kaso no choice talaga.

OT: Kaunting ipon lang yan, bro. Kaya mo siguro yan. Ako, isa't kalahating taon na pag-iipon para lang makabili ng LCd at BD player. Ok lang kasi sa ganung katagal hindi naapekto yung finances ko. Worth it talaga.

Ayos yan sir. hehe, kaso student pa lang ako. It'll take a while bago mag trabaho at makapag invest.

I found out today that The Dark Knight trilogy will be released locally on 11/28 and they already started pre-booking with options as follows:
TDK trilogy BD w/ free tumbler
TDK trilogy DVD w/ free journal
Sadly, no broken bat cowl package. But then again this was for the trilogy and not the TDKR movie. Still looking forward to TDK trilogy DVD IF it wil feature a 2disc TDKR with bonus features as close to the BD.
-
The devil in in the details. And the poster didn't mention how much... Given that local distributors often charge unreasonable pricing, I will without pre-booking until the details out.
Note that Batman Begins and TDK are already discounted titles (and most Batman movie fans probably had it in their library) so only the third titles is the premium one. And based on the photo , the tumbler seems ordinary, the Journal looks better (but still not special), but not worth it if the price is too high.
Will await more details before deciding to buy or not...

The BD offer looks reasonable depending on whatever promo item is included with it. Otherwise, it's way overpriced considering the US version alone costs just a little over a thousand.

Good question, I'd have to verify next week. I'll update as soon as I get a hands on these.
-
I hope the TDKR release has a lenticular 3D slipcover like the US release.

I went to Astrovision GH where I pre-ordered my TDK set but sales told me release will be tomorrow ??? ::) anyway, isang tulog na lang mawawala na ang itch LOL :D :D :D

Dito out na yun TDKR....BD and 3d....DVD...
-
Got the 2-disc DVD from my suking store yesterday. No BD yet sa kanila though
-
Will the BD's be the same as the various US releases?
-
got my preordered TDK Trilogy gift set w/ free journal yesterday...also bought TDKR 2disc DVD separately - here are my initial thoughts after unwrapping the items:
- box set is sturdy w/ lenticular front cover featuring all color themes from the trilogy + a nice embossed TDKR logo at the back with removable print/flap containing the summary for each movie
- free journal was made in China, smaller in size
- the box set and the 2disc TDKR are both manufactured in Hongkong
- disc holder on the box set is more secured and is slightly different than regular amarays
- internal art on the boxset features The Batman on his Bat-pod, nothing more...sadly, no detailed notes on the special features*
- the actual discs on the box set have different prints than the individual movie discs
I will have a grand marathon over the weekend. In conclusion, the set was worth the price and I was also impressed that we got all the special features of TDKR 2disc on DVD, considering how we only get barebone discs locally these days in favor of BD
*rumor has it that an Ultimate Collector's Edition is in the works with Chris Nolan's commentary on all films in the trilogy! absolutely gonna look forward to that next year :o
-
I bought the TDKR 2 Disc DVD. The special features are okay. I guess I really have to upgrade into BD

How is the PQ of the DVD release?
-
How is the PQ of the DVD release?
Pwede na po. Okay din ang sound quality.
-
Concerning the packaging: The DVD Trilogy comes with lenticular slipcase while the Bluray does not. The DVD looks much cooler, in terms of packaging...
-
pics of the box set and 2 discs version would be nice :)
-
Rent this before my urge to buy. WOW is the word for almost everything in it. ;)
How is the PQ of the DVD release?
PQ is good enough, but no IMAX sequences (boo).
Gone are the digital anomalies of the 2008 DVD of The Dark Knight.
SQ is great.
I'll be getting this on Blu-ray instead.

These pics from AMAZON UK are very similar to the local release:
The cover is lenticular with images that of the two halves shown in the photo above.
The artbook is very nice but is shorter and narrower than the case, so to compensate, they put two pieces of styrofoam to make it fit. Not an elegant solution, but oh well... The slipcase is very thick and sturdy, the type they don't use locally anymore...
The digibook uses a new type of crystal case to lock the discs. You press it downward from the edge (not the top). I don't like it. The discs seems to get loose very easily. The copy I bought has two loose discs. Luckily, they are not scratched.
The Bluray is again almost like the UK one:
Cover is embrossed with silver bat logo, but not lenticular. Not as cool as the DVD case. The artbook is similar in size to the DVD one, the artbook now fit snugly in terms of height but is still narrower in terms of width. Again, styrofoam to the rescue...
The artbook is similar (for both DVD and Bluray) if I am not wrong, but I can't say 100% as I only bought the DVD.
The Trilogy price of the DVD is very reasonable, that of the Bluray is debatable...
-
nice to see that the hefty serving of special features in the blu ray release are also in the 2-disc dvd :D
-
anybody else having a problem regarding the 2 disc dvd region 3 version?, the special features area "ENDING THE KNIGHT", there are some sections sometimes it doesn't play and sometimes it does... but the "THE BATMOBILE" section is working fine...
i'll try now if it will play on my laptop...
-
^ it works fine on my lapy... i'm now trying it again on the dvd player, still same problem...
mmm... there might be something wrong with my player (sony dvd model KLV-32300A) - that player is part of the ht set i have which is bravia v series model DAV-DZ555K, for years now... only once it's been fixed -year 2010(replacement of the optical) from official sony service center...
but there can't be something wrong with the player because i've been using legit dvds/cds(rarely cds) on it for years(as always), and recent weeks/days... mmm... oh well...
i'll observe it the next time i watch dvd movies on it.
(oh yeah on a side note, at the back of the dvd player it says 3, most of my small dvd collection are 98% region 3s, my region 1's can be counted in one hand, BUT SURPRISINGLY it also plays r1s... LoL)
-
^No surprise. Most DVD players in the country are region free since 2003 onwards, regardless of the region code stamped on their back. Maybe even earlier.
-
For those who bought the Blu-ray, how was the Video and Audio quality of it? Is the IMAX Scenes exciting?

IMAX scenes are the best. Its a good thing that there's more IMAX than 35mm in this one considering that the 35mm scenes are soft, much more like Batman Begins PQ (but a little better).
The sound quality is consistent all throughout. Though I may not call it noisy, but it's loud! First time I had to adjust the volume at low levels. Bane's voice gives the chills.

nagkakaubusan ng 2 discs sa astro, I dunno why...

nagkakaubusan ng 2 discs sa astro, I dunno why...
glad I got mine the first day pati yung trilogy...I guess one of the reasons is yung price, sulit naman kasi talaga :) can't wait for next year's ultimate edition hehe
-
Thanks for the great reviews Mates. I want this in Bluray!
-
nagkakaubusan ng 2 discs sa astro, I dunno why...
Saw lots of 2-disc DVDs at Odyssey Gateway Mall.
-
some stores like Astro San Lazaro are just selling the vanilla version, they said the 2 discs are sold out.
-
nagkakaubusan ng 2 discs sa astro, I dunno why...
Medyo marami pa sa Astro City Manila
-
Still lots of 2-disc versions at Astro Rob Place Ermita.
-
I find bane's lines to be somewhat goofy, corny even.not as good as its predecessor in my book.
-
I bought a pretty nice tumbler today for Php799 that was supposed to come with a pre-order of the Blu-ray edition ...a kiosk here in Eastwood is selling them, meron din nung mini-journal for Php299, great deal na rin since I (still!) don't own a BD ::)
-
I think the 1,550 TDK Trilogy is worth it.
-
I think the 1,550 TDK Trilogy is worth it.
Absolutely - the trilogy is a perfect way to celebrate this era of Batman, all 3 films comes in 2discs and the DVD package is not bad at all
-
The Dark Knight Trilogy Collector's Edition is out in local stores today :)
5500 - set without the Hotwheels toys
7500 - set with Hotwheels
I'm thinking really hard if I would buy the set without the toys. Anyone who was able to purchase any version?
-
What is the scale of the hotwheels and what particular vehicle? I got mine as a separate buy. Hotwheels tumbler and separate BD set only.
-
1:50 scale yung mga HW - the bat, tumbler and a golden bat-pod(!?) LOL
most Astro stores have them na...
-
I'm sorry, but I have to make this comment: Is online shopping an option for you? The local pricing just sounds ridiculous when you look at other available options:
If you purchase the Blu-ray set with the three Hot Wheels vehicles, a 64-page book, and Mondo collectible art cards from Amazon.Com, it only comes out to 4,100 pesos, including standard shipping. Even if you end up having to pay customs duties of even up to 2,000 pesos, it will still be significantly cheaper than the 7500 they're asking for. And if you're lucky and don't have to pay any duties, it'll cost less than the bare bones set.
Conversely, order it from Amazon UK and including shipping, it comes out to 3,340 pesos. Even with customs duties, it will be much cheaper.
-
Yup, the local pricing is outrageous.
-
@Mr. Hankey, you're absolutely right...I don't know why they're charging that much here.
