Wok With Yan. I remember the varying mottos on Mr. Yan's apron, and how jealous I'd get whenever he'd feed the studio guests. Haloooo!
when i was a kid, i used to loooove watching nora daza's cooking show on abs. when i moved to oz i made sure i had my Cooking With Nora Daza cookbook with me :)
but for now, JAMIE OLIVER! the naked chef himself :)

Gordon Elliot's door knock dinners ;D
Probably the sloppiest, messiest cook on tv...

The Urban Peasant, James Barber
Agree on your assessment of James Barber. I once saw an episode where he was simmering veggies and not noticing that the RED cap of the tabasco sauce he used found its way into the mix. It was such a knee-slapper. ;D
Another fave of mine is Biba's Kitchen. Too bad Discovery Channel stopped showing that superb cooking show.
My favorite TV cooking celebrity:

The divine Nigella Lawson.
Sya pa lang, pang-ulam na! ;D
this domestic goddess can cook me dinner ANYTIME!!! she's no "supermodel" type... this gal has CURVES! (and all in the right places!)
Heck! She doesn't even have to cook for me. I'm sure I can think of a few things me and her can cook up! ;D
Another time ,while chopping, he left the stove on for some period and then started to wonder why it was getting a little too hot. ;D "No wonder it was getting hot in here..." And then he shut it off. ;DYou must be refering to her...

The funny thing is, despite all the cooking shows that I watch and have seen, and despite the fact that we had cooking classes in school, I still don't know how to cook!
Well, Tyler Florence (Food 911) has this show called Tyler's Ultimate, and he picks a dish--omelet, apple pie, seafood soup, goes to where this dish was invented, watches how it's made, goes somewhere else where a variation is made, then goes back to New York where he does his "ultimate" version.
I usually ignore his version and download the recipe for the classic version. Got the recipe for classic French omelet, apple tartin, bouillabaise (sp?). Mm boy, them good.
Then there's Mario Batali's Mario Eats Italy, where Mario goes up and down Italy and shows us the best eats. That show is dangerous to watch--I usually end up raiding the fridge after.
Good Eats has some useful tips, and besides, it's funny. It once showed the original recipe for Ceasar's salad (you don't use anchovie, you use Worcestershire, and you eat it with your hands), and better, shows us the historical and chemical basis for some of the dishes made.
Gordon Eliot's fun. HIs latest show is Follow That Food, where he traces some dish or ingredient from its origins to around the world.
Tony Boudain's show is fun. I'd like to have his job.
Rachel Ray--eh, too perky. NIgella Lawson's more my idea of a woman.
I miss Keith Floyd in BBC. Now that was one mad chef.

Oh yeah, this guy's kitchen is so dirty! How in the world did he get a cooking show? ;D East Meets West is okay too. Locally, I used to watch a lot of Daza's show on ABC-5 pag weekends. Is it still on?

Anthony Bourdain's book...
I got 'A Cook's Tour' and I just finished the chapter on his trip to Mexico ;D Iguana? No way, Jose.
But I would like to go to The French Laundry in Napa and try the 20 course meal of Thomas Keller. :)

remembering "Walk with Yan" ::) ::) ::)
pinoycoolwacky... the show's title was "WOK WITH YAN"... he he he.. O0
my friends and i used to make fun of how she uses only ONE dishcloth per show to dry her hands, clean the countertop, dry the pan, dry the veggies, etc., etc. (not very sanitary is she?) ;)
And don't forget that she also uses that same dishcloth to wipe the plates she'll put her dishes on.
Spiff, you're the only person I know who remembers that show AND that lady's awful habit, hehe. ;D
exactly! that's her! ;D ;D
i wonder if she's really like that in real life... ::) ;)
Yikes! Hopefully not. But knowing how sloppy some chinese restaurants are, I wouldn't be surprised. I remember my fil-chi friend's story about this chinese restaurant she wants to be bring me to in Carriedo. She said the food is out-of-this-world delicious -- just ignore the servers who would carry your dishes to the table with their thumb dipped into the food.
By the way, a friend of mine saw an episode of Nigella Lawson's cooking show. According to him the show's production values are quite high. He even mentioned that the frame rate they used was akin to using film.
i remember during my high school says, there was this one chinese lady who does "quick" cooking shows on (beautiful) sundays at channel 9. (ya can't miss it. it has this real catchy midi-ish tune whenever it starts...)
i remember watching her in awe (clueless ast what she was saying) as she cooked these nice yummy-looking dishes in like 5 minutes flat! ;D

i think sky's chinese channel still airs her mini-cooking shows. ;D
cool! at 24 frames per second (film rate)... i actually noticed that too when i saw a short clip of her show while she guested on oprah. it's like watching a documentary because she sometimes explains the recipes via voice-over. and she does it all in her REAL kitchen (kaya sometimes her kids would suddenly pop in) ;)
Emeril Live
Also irritated with Lagasse. Other chefs I don't like are Bobby Flay (too condescending), Rocco Dispirito (tries to act like a culinary rock star), and that Canadian chef who has two shows in Asian Food Channel -- I think his last name's White.
Chef to go with chef rob pengsonBecause he was a primadonna.
kaya lang bakit tinanggal ung show?
I find Emeril Lagasse EXTREMELY irritating. I have no idea how this idea got to be so freakin' popular. He's not funny and he makes irritating humming noises when he cooks....
everyday italian.

Kailangan eh, para mas lalo kayong manood ;D
Sya yung pinaka type kong tv personality in cooking shows
She looks like flirting on camera :D
Mukhang ganito itsura ni Natalie Portman pag nagka edad
OO, pero hindi naman tamang bastusin o cheapipax na babae
aaay
hawig nga siya ni natalie portman
problema di ka sa pagluluto nakatingin eh ;D
Hey Indie, what's the story behind Rob Pengson being a primadona? I have met his wife prior to their relationship.
bakit madalas ung suot niya plunging? ;D
According to what I've heard he refuses some sponsorships even if it's soft-sell because he claims some products have a cheap reputation. Bumblebee hit it right on the head, he tries to be posh and sophisticated. It's not like he's David Pardo de Ayala or Norbert Gandler, or even Margarita Fores. And yet, he endorsed KFC.
Okey din 'yung "The Boss" ni Bruce Lim ng AFC.
lahat ng sidekick niya puro kalbo din lol
Wok With Yan ^-^

wala bang fan ni anna olson dito?Me, hehe...also watch her shows aside from my favorites Nigella Lawson and Laura Calder. I think she's a nice lady, di ko lang type yung mga ovens na gamit sa kitchen niya.
Everyday Italian with Giada De Laurentiis and French Food at Home with Laura Calder. Love it when them ladies start chopping things.
every Nigella Lawson cooking show!
Me, hehe...also watch her shows aside from my favorites Nigella Lawson and Laura Calder. I think she's a nice lady, di ko lang type yung mga ovens na gamit sa kitchen niya.
Hindi kaya lalong lumaki ang balakang ni Nigella sa mga pagkain natin? Ha ha ha. But seriously I love French Cooking at Home. I hate Jaimie Oliver because he make cooking look so easy when its not.
Ay oo nga pala. Si Laura Calder nga yun. Her name escaped me but she brought hotness in the kitchen ha ha ha! Di nga lang nag-aahit ng armpit hairs.
Medyo OT. Are there short courses availa ble in Manila that are related to cooking? Though I am interested more on meat processing like hungarian sausages/bratwurst and the likes. Thanks
Chef at Home parang rocker lang si Michael Smith at ang cool ng kitchen nya very organized.
competition pero my wife likes Masterchef Australia over the US version which is crap. she used to watch top chef pero stopped at Season 11 ata. nagsawa din.
