Per channel 19 of Destiny Cable, it will be entering into an "alliance" with Global Cable TV starting Nov. 2 and will henceforth be known as Global Destiny.
Any Global CAble TV subscribers here? Meron bang Solar Sports, Star World, AXN, ESPN, Star Sports dun? :-\
any channel will be a most welcome addition. Half the time I feel like I'm paying for free tv - ubos na talaga ang channels ng destiny if you're into sports or tv shows.

The only thing I really missed with the old Destiny was Star Mandarin. Other than that, I'm perfectly content with TechTV, Now, Discovery Travel and Leisure and Channel V -- that is, until tennis season arrives. ;D

Its NBA season already. I don't think I can last another season without access to it, the latest Shaq and Kobe episode notwithstanding. I wanna see Lebron, check out if he really is Magic with Michael's athleticism. I want to see how Dallas makes sense of their starting line up. I want to see if Lamar Odom can actually last an entire season, if AI can live with Glenn Robinson, if Van Horn can last in New York.
I missed the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open this year. I can't believe I wasn't able to watch how that young pitcher from the Marlins beat the Yankees. I even miss the NFL!
I was seriously thinking of switching back to Home Cable until I saw channel 19. Gives me hope.

I used to be a Destiny subscriber and switched to Global several months ago.
Meron Star World, AXN, ESPN, Star Sports plus some movie channels not present in the old Destiny lineup. No Solar sports and TechTV

thanks. sayang wala pa ring solar, but espn and star sports will have to do in the meantime. at least i get to watch 2 games a week, in addition to IBC's coverage (kung meron pa).

Like you Tonedeaf, I'm also a sports fan, I stayed with Destiny (after leaving Home) even though I missed every F1, Tennis match. Have always been tempted to switch, but I'd be helping form a monopoly. Was content with the 30 minute CNN World Sports and that Bloomberg style EuroSportNews (but now it's also gone). Other than sports, I love the Discovery Channel, TechTV and Reality TV. I would say I'll quit Destiny if Discovery is gone. But it seems, things are going to get better...
Saw the Japanese feed of the Sonics - Clippers game in Japan fed by NHK BS1. Destiny's channel 90 last night. Pinagtiagaan ko na kahit japanese announcers. Alternately swapping the taped Cavs (that Lebron kid is good!) game on IBC.
Solar Sports BTW is shown on Ch 56 but fuzzy. Destiny says they are negotiating it to be shown.

Oo nga,overdue na ko for three months e mukhang gumaganda na naman ang programming nila.
Muntik na kong lumipat nung inalis ang Star madarin but when I found out the clause of getting that channel from Sky, I thought it was typically outrageous of an ABS company so I stuck with Destiny, anyway OK naman ako sa Mei Ah Channel (71). Poor man's substitute pero at least may Chinese movies.
May wowow na sa Destiny. . . Battle Royale 2! Kahit walang subs.
If Destiny picks up TCM. . .I'll be a subscriber for life, kahit alisin na nila ang HBO! ;D

OT: yup, king james seems to be the real deal. but he's still an 18-year old kid, despite the game and his build. i hope he has a good support group because he could easily get distracted the money and the attention he's getting. it wasn't so long ago that vince carter was THE star before he disappeared the last 2-3 years.

Bad trip naman, I just switched back to Home when AXN was removed from Destiny's line up. Now I have to wait for a year before I could switch back to Destiny again...wrong decision!!! I miss Discovery, Disney and Tech TV :(

hope they bring back movie magic and mnet. also , like x4 said, i want tcm too. bakit ba kasi may cartoon network pa rin after midnight when all they show are the crappy toons. mabuhay global destiny. no to monopoly.

for NBA fans, just checked out Global Destiny's channel line-up on channel 19 and they will have Solar Sports together with ESPN and Star Sports.
In addition, they have ch 90 (Japanese channel BS1) which is now showing the Sonics-Clippers game (or maybe its only because the game is in Japan?) And an NBA League Pass channel soon (whatever that means).

i hope matuloy nga ... so far i am enjoying the wowow channel... kanina, i watched a docu on james dean (how cool is that?!)
one positive thing about all this is that TVE and RTPi are re-assigned to better channel nos... with better reception. (yun nga lang minsan out of sync yung audio ng RTPi.)

Last Friday it was 89, today it's in the upper 60s I think. Not sure. Basta when I want to watch it, I look for the letterboxed movie with Japanese subtitles. It's before V and MTV which is now 84 asnd 85, I think.

TCM (aka Turner Classic Movies aka the movie channel that's better than HBO) na lang perfect na 'tong provider na to . . . at magiging TV adik na naman ako. :)

Hey maybe this is what happened on my TV. I programmed it last Saturday tapos nagpapalit palit ng channel assignments. Or did Global Destiny really change the channel assignments themselves? Ang gulo but. . .OK lang. ;D
Isn't AXN already part of the line-up? I think I saw it last Saturday. Or was that Friday? Anyways, I do hope so. It's one of my favorite foreign channels.

Glad I stayed with destiny. They have this new mandarin movie channel called ettv on channel 58 where I watched Stephen Chow's King of Comedy last night. Too bad Hollywood HK did not have english subs when it was shown. Now I have an alternative to the mei-ah movie channel :)
I noticed that cetv is gone from the new channel line-up. I'll surely miss inside entertainment.
Another thing I'm excited about is that cnbc aired a jay leno episode last night, followed by an old episode of Sat Night Live. Hope this will be a regular thing. Am also wondering if conan will be shown too.

Could it actually have something to do with our TVs, 'cause I just noticed that the auto-program manages to exclude free channels, too? I doubt it, tho. Hopefully this transition period will be over pretty soon . . . and also those channels without signals will be up and running, too. (Hopefully, too, Wowow starts showing Battle Royale 2 soon. I did have a blast watching Harry Potter dubbed in Japanese, made the movie very watchable actually. ;D)

Wowow channel = ch 56
AXN was pulled out sometime over the weekend. It was originally at ch 30. Per their updated channel guide, no AXN, ESPN, Solar Sports or any of the Star channels yet.
The channel guide in Ch 3 or 4 is now fairly accurate so you can use it for reference.
I have a Philips TV. I don't automatically get new channels, unless they are placed in channels (and therefore, frequencies) I already have before. For example, I immediately got AXN because Ch 30 was already occupied by the Profit Watch channel. Same thing with ETTV on Ch 18 (before it got transferred to Ch 58). On the other hand, I had to manually search for Wowow and BS1, because they were placed in channels I didn't have before (initially at ch 89 and 90). But I don't think this is common to all TVs. Kasi my old Panasonic automatically recognized all new channels. Ewan ko nga ba.

Wow, so wala na naman palang AXN? Syet! Oh well. . . my only prob with not having AXN is that I couldn't watch CSI Miami from my room. Guess now I'll have to watch it from the living room, which is Sky. ::)

so far i counted 5 channels on color bars and with a "reserved (coming soon)" tag. i hope they could accomodate every channel they promised. pero star network pa lang kulang na eh (star movies, star world, star sports, espn, ngc, etc.). paano na ang axn at solar sports?

Is it just me or are we now getting the Japanese "version" of the wowow channel? All movies are now dubbed in Japanese, instead of English audio with Japanese subtitles. darn.

They currently have a channel called Hollywood on Channel 21. It's showing the Matthew Broderick-Meg Ryan film Addicted to Love, with Chinese subtitles and Chinese commercials.
Who knows if it's going to last, though...

BS-1! I really missed this channel when Sky pulled it several years ago. They're also great during Wimbledon, with their commercial-free coverage.

Might just be temporary, while they do adjustments. Reality TV was also off the air for a few days last week, but now it's back.

really enjoying the hollywood channel tho... (sana lang mahanapan nila ng paraan matanggal yung chinese subtitles... they can get pretty distracting sometimes.) ;D

They will be showing the following premium channels soon...
NBA League pass - for a whole season of NBA, 24 hours a day (kung hindi pa kayo nagsasawa sa NBA) at a cost of 1,390 pesos -- good for a whole NBA season na yan.
Plus, Playboy channel :o and Wowow Movies (iba pa sa Wowow channel 56) at a premium of course pero di ko alam magkano.
Of course if it's premium, you will need to buy set-top boxes which would be around 1k-2k pesos.

Channel 17 - Sports Plus is all golf (for now) but they have on schedule American Football, NASCAR, bowling, NBA (2 games a week lang ata), horse racing.
Channel 42 - ETC will have variety show but less of the fiction based stuff, it will revolve around reality.

They moved ETC to channel 25. I'm guessing that's because it's sort of counter programming to Sky's channel 25 (Star World). Leno's on right now, with Jennifer Garner. But it's a really old episode. She's still married to Scott Foley, and she's plugging "Catch Me If You Can".
Di siguro marereklamo ang ETC, since it's a local channel produced for Destiny and other cable operators... not a pirated feed. :)
My only complaint about this channel is: If I see the preview for "Stuck On You" one more time, I might go insane. ;D

I'm guessing their regular programming will probably start February 1st, since after the years-old episodes they've been showing of The Tonight Show, the one they just aired this morning (Ashton Kutcher and the stupid streakers) was the same new episode shown on NBC less than 24 hours ago.

they showed elijah wood promoting lord of the rings on jay leno yesterday but it was for the two towers. so more than 1 year old na yung episode. :o oh well, at least kanina, they had an episode of girls behaving badly and it's so mean it's funny. also saw entertainment tonight new episodes at 12 noon.

Wow, Global Destiny is dying a slow, painful death.
It started when they lost their Star Channels.
After which, they lost AXN.
Then they brought in some general entertainment South African feeds, but also lost them after a few weeks.
This month, they lost their "exclusive" ETC/Sports Plus rights, so this is no longer a consideration for people selecting a cable provider.
Two weeks ago, they lost WOWOW.
Today I discover they also just lost Tech TV.
As a result, next month, they lose at least one more subscriber.

actually... they didn't lose techTV. :P
it's more like, techTV died! yup, wala na po siyang asian feed. techTV was recently purchased and merged with G4 (a gaming channel.) as a result, a lot of its shows have also folded up (including their flagship show: call for help!!!)
before we finally give global destiny the axe, we'll probably be waiting to see if G4techTV makes an appearance. if it sucks (or doesn't show completely), then i guess we have no choice but to finally let go. :-\

the only reason why i am still a destiny subscriber is to have broadband internet.... and to think their cable internet service sucks too....
it is so pathetic in our area... called up the following broadband providers:
eastern dsl ---> they don't service our area
sky dsl ---> they don't service our area
sky cable internet ---> they don't service our area
bayantel dsl ---> they don't service our area
globe dsl ---> they don't service our area
now cable internet ---> they don't service our area
pldt dsl ---> still no response after a month. but when i tried to apply about 2 years ago i was informed that their dsl service in our area is not available cos of the wiring or something... damn...

you may be right SPaCeMaN SPiFF. It's just that last night lang ako nag try manood and I was surprised to find something else. Tell you what, I actually called Global Destiny (yeah I'm idle a lot) a few minutes ago and they said they did not remove it in their line-up, they are trying to sort it daw with the Wowow their "technical problem" which the rep told me could be 2 months before they can get it back on line.
Mr. Hankey, AXN is on 24 on Global Destiny.

THE MOTION Pictures Association, a global group representing the American film industry, has asked the National Telecommunications Commission to penalize Destiny Cable Inc. for piracy.
"The Motion Pictures Association filed a case with us against Destiny. They want us to impose administrative sanctions," NTC Chairman Ronald Solis told reporters.
Solis said the movie association complained that the local cable operator had been airing movies not covered by any commercial agreement.
But the NTC chief said it would have to ask the court whether the commission has the jurisdiction to decide on cases involving violations of intellectual property rights.
"We have to wait for the court to decide whether it is us or the IPO [Intellectual Property Office] that should handle the complaint," Solis said.
"The NTC has an understanding with the IPO to assist in the enforcement of the IPR laws here. But since cable is the medium of piracy in this case, we are asserting our jurisdiction," the NTC chief explained.

There's a 450/month plan? I just got a flyer that says 500/month for roughly 90 channels.

Yup it's 500 a month. 1 month free if you pay 6 mos advance. 2 mos free if you pay 1 year advance.
Their website was revamped and only talks about their broadband service.

Last time I had cable service in my other Makati home it took a day or so to complete the application and installation.
It required an installation fee and a visit to their offices for processing. (That was with Sky)
Now they come to your place with the application and contract, prepay a small amount and install the cable.
All in less than 30mins (according to the sales agent). Great!

I'm in Quezon City, and I just checked 66 and 67 right now, and they are blank.

It's very interesting, because even if you check the previous page of this thread, when you announced AXN was back, I did NOT get AXN on my Destiny cable feeds at the time.
And you say you're paying Php 500/month. My billing statement for the month is here, and it's still only Php 450.
Maybe you pay 50 pesos more for Star Sports/ESPN? Does Destiny have a different plans like SkyCable Platinum, Gold and Silver? Though since I get ESPN/Star Sports on Sky, I won't be upgrading. ;D

Yup I'm paying 500. They increased it from 450 to 500 without announcement. Nagulat na lang ako sa bill ko. Did not complain dahil they were still lower than their competitors plus they returned ESPN & Star Sports (which was around mid '05 pa yata).
I don't think this is a tiered approach. I know 3 other Global Destiny subscribers in our area and we have the same channel line-up and bill.
Clickthecity is not updated? I'm not surprised because Destiny's own channel line-up (Ch 4 yata) shows "Reserved" under channel 66 & 67. Now why would they do that?
On the different feeds, it's weird indeed and I only have questions :o

since Monday my destiny cable has been showing Sky Cable channels like Animax and Hero.
The kicker is one of the channels has the Sky channel guide in it.
It would be nice to get the channels from Sky but the picture quality is really bad as in heavy snow.
The audio is okay though.
Reported the incident to Destiny this morning but no change in the situation yet. bummer! >:(

Exactly what I was wondering. If this were a perfect world, Destiny would give it to us for free since they're the ones who insisted on being the exclusive cable provider for our building. But I didn't force the issue since I got the feeling that the person I was talking to didn't have all the information anyway. We'll know for sure once we get our next billing statement.
Might I ask where your condo is located via here or DM? Just want to get an idea when we'll get hooked up. Even though my favorite team has been eliminated, it would still be nice to actually see the rest of the season.

Got the NBA premium channel during the playoffs and the tech who installed my unit is claiming that it has free ppv for Pacman fights. It's "currently bundled" with NBA premium as promo and they had quite a h#ll of a time last May as demand was very high for the Pacman vs Mosley fight.
There are two channels in the digibox. One for NBA and the other is labelled PPV. For Pacman's next fight I only need to switch channels to enjoy free PPV. Of course, I have no way of verifying this claim hence this post.
Can somebody share their experience? For me, I have to see to believe unless somebody here can validate the claim.

may nag post dun sa nba premium page sa facebook na they are only running test broadcasts ng mga new channels. babalik daw today yung nba premium.
pero wtf destiny sa lahat ng channels na pwedeng mawala habang test broadcast eh nba premium pa. imho yung nba premium lang naman yung may kwenta na channel sa digibox nila eh.

4 channels lang:
nba premium
warner tv
red tv
and a ppv channel which is only useful whenever a pacquiao fight is on.(free live coverage).otherwise,it's just that colored bar screen thingy.HTH :)

Worth it naman esp now with the NBA back. The other channels like Warner and Red are just deal sweeteners minsan may mga ok na chinese or korean movie sa Red. The free PPV nagamit ko during the Pacman vs Marquez fight and dun pa lang na nakapanood sa amin bawi na kung php550 per head ang cost ng tickets sa labas - 8 ata kami nun. With the Pacman vs Mayweather fight still brewing (which I think will happen), feeling ko more than ROI na tong ginastos ko for the Digital channels lalo kung matuloy tong laban na ito. If you really want the have NBA worth it ito sir, if not I think you are fine with the regular channels.
