Caught the first episode of this new British conspiracy thriller TV series that centers on a graphic novel called "The Utopia Experiment," which is rumored to have been prophetic and accurately predicted major worldwide disasters.
When five people from an Internet chat forum decide to meet and talk about a yet unpublished part 2 manuscript of the graphic novel that one of them managed to obtain, all of them are soon targeted by "The Network," who are hellbent in getting the manuscript back.
The first episode was great, and has a strange, unique look with its bright colors and slow zoom camera pans, almost like a Wes Anderson movie but with menace in the air. There's also a gruesome torture scene towards the end, which is definitely not for everyone--the scaredy-cat that I am, I looked away, heh. ;D
Utopia started last January 15, 2013 on the U.K.'s Channel Four and is slated for a 6-episode run. With Fringe gone, I need some dose of strangeness and this looks like a good replacement; I hope I won't be disappointed.

Currently wathing episode 2
-
this looks magnificent in HD. too bad 6 episodes lang.
"The series will be released as a DVD and Blu-Ray on March 11, 2013.[22] It will include behind-the-scenes documentaries, deleted scenes, and audio commentary."

Just watched the excellent series finale (or is it?), which had more twists than a salted pretzel--did not really see those coming, which was good. The characters here should really take one of The X-Files' sayings to heart: "Trust no One."
-
Watched this in marathon this weekend. Seems the thrill diminished with each episode and kinda disappointed with the finale which is sort of deja vu with movies in the past.
-
Season 2 just started, with the first two episodes to be aired on two consecutive nights (July 14 & 15)
-
Can't remember Season 1 so I had to read wiki for the details. But Ygritte in in Episode 1 pero hanggang doon lang yata siya.
-
Emperor Palpatine, is that you? ;D
-
Whirlwind finale.

Great finale...but is it really the end? anyway, even if the series doesn't get renewed, I'm okay with the way it ended.
Still cannot get over this series' awesome production design, with scenes beautifully framed and punctuated with bright swatches of color, which contrasts to the bloody, brutal way people are murdered left and right in the show:

David Fincher to Direct Entire First Season of Utopia Remake
Source (http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/09/30/david-fincher-utopia/)
...am baffled as to why this series needs an American spin in the first place when they could've just as easily shown it as is, just like Doctor Who, Sherlock, or Downton Abbey. At any rate, I hope Fincher takes a different spin on it and not copy its unique visual style; worst thing that could happen is he copies its exact look then gets praised and solely credited for it. ::)

I thought Utopia US is a reality tv show. Or this is something completely different?

Same title, different shows--the US reality show is shown on FOX, the US adaptation of the UK series will be on HBO...they might not even call it "Utopia" anymore.
-
I hope they won't do the same as the one I had posted for Gracepoint. Too much deja vu.

Confirmed that there will be no Series 3 of Utopia...so it really was the end.
