Title: Nervous about getting a Samsung Tv
Post by: xb24 on May 24, 2013 at 12:53 AM
Hey guys I just need your inputs on buying a Samsung tv. I was originally planning to buy a sony W900 but I don't think they'll ever release a 40-42" version here so I looked at their next best tv w/c is W804 but has muted colors and only has passive 3d accdg to this cnet review http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/sony-kdl-47w802a/4505-6482_7-35661317.html (http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/sony-kdl-47w802a/4505-6482_7-35661317.html) So now Im planning to buy the 40" F6400 3D tv but im having second thoughts after reading posts here of samsung tv problems. This is my first time getting a samsung currently we have a 40ex710 sony and a 32le5500 lg and so far so good. I don't see samsung service centers all I see are sony service centers. How is their service? I don't want to pay for expensive parts if ever the samsung tv gets broken after the warranty. Do their tv last very long before showing signs of problems? I want my tv to last for at least 5-6 years. Hope you can help me :) Thanks.

I think it's Samsung's dominance of the TV market that increases the number of actual failed units (since they sold so much, it's just likely that more would also be failing). My parents have a couple of Samsung LCD TVs, and they've been around for many years.

Based on this study, Samsung TVs are about average when it comes to reliability (of course, there may be reliable and less reliable models with every brand).

Just be sure na ang pipiliin mong TV ay yung may magandang aftermarket support, yung madaling matawagan once na may problema ang TV, and yung walang diwara kapag covered ka pa ng warranty,...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, pero parang mas gusto ko pang bumili ng TV sa mga shops ng mga sellers dito sa PDVD coz somehow parang mas madaling makipag-usap sa kanila pag may problema ang unit mo,...

Agree!  :D

i've been seeing a couple of New Samsung Service Centers popping up here & there in the past year whenever i travel... so good sign in terms of after sales support

other brands might have a lower price and acceptable PQ, but usually their service centers are very limited and mostly in manila...

Wow, Vizio clearly has the best approval ratings. Bakit kaya walang mga Vizio tvs dito. Meron ba?

Ok naman ang support ng samsung. May aircon ako sa pasig nasira after two years extended warranty and they replaced it with a brand new unit. Regarding my LED TV dito sa Davao they also replaced the entire LED assembly. Overall, very accomodating yung customer support nila tawag ako sa phone they give you a reference number and follow it up. Just like that.

I can't believe what I saw at abenson's waltermart in e.rodriguez... a Samsung 55ES8000 for only 98K, on sale, used to be 200K.

Seriously kung mediocre lang or worst after sale service, sa LG ka kabahan.

Still, it is series 8! It used to be 200K, so for 90K, I think it is worth it. I just was not able to ask if there are still stocks left at abenson's waltermart e.rodriguez.

I totally disagree. LG has a better after sales support than samsung, it is home service. If you want you may create a new thread which is better LG after sales support or Samsung's. I bet LG will win by landslide.hehe

I've read more positive comments about LG aftersales service than negative ones.

Is that so?

I dont need to create a thread as there are already existing threads that describe how BAD is LG pre sales and after sale support.

LG will will landslide in terms of worst customer service.

Maybe you may want to read this:

Samsung may have a higher after sale issue since mas marami silang sales. Proportion yun.

I read the thread from start to finish, seems like you are one of the two people who  had an lg bad experience. If you read the thread, there are even lg users who said no problems with their lg products. Samsung and Sony bad experiences also present within the thread. Matter of fact, the person who started the thread got his lg tv fixed eventually. He even gave a 500 peso tip to the technician who went to his home and fixed his tv.

Don't buy lg if you had a bad experience. As for me and most folks here, we continue to enjoy our lg products especially our lg led tvs. 2 years warranty and home service. Wohoo! I won't stop buyng lg. Hollah back if anyone is with me.hehe

2 lang? Ah wait lang pag di ako busy, i quote ko para sa iyo mga posts how bad Lg's service.
Unang una it was said already by the thread starter about LG's service di ba? Nagbasaka ba talaga? Basa basa ka muna pag may time.

I understand that you love your own, that's completely understandable, but you cannot deny the fact that there are happy customers like you so as very unhappy with LG service, gets?

Remember I am not saying LG products are bad; LG has a bad after/pre sales service, as experienced already by several members here.

not defending LG's service but I think it's unfair to generalize agad just because of one personal experience. I read the thread as well.

Not conclusive enough, IMHO. But I do understand where you're coming from Philander.

cheers.. :)

I'd like to share to you my experience with Samsung and Western's service. :)

I bought the last PS51E550 last April 27 in Western Pasay Rd. The last unit happened to be the display unit. I had my qualms about purchasing since it was a display. The sales people were even ganging up on me saying that the display unit isn't that old and that they just recently put it up there. Of course, in my head, I wasn't going to believe all that bullcrap. Garbage in Garbage out in other words.

I based my decision in purchasing the unit on the promised warranty which included a replacement of the unit in case of problems. So I bought the tv, brought it home and waited the following week for the Samsung people to install it on its wall mount. After installing, we removed the top right corner "+1" sticker (you see this in all their displays) and immediately saw an outline of where the sticker used to be. The technicians immediately guessed "screen burn." After doing the picture test, they confirmed that it was indeed screen burn. The heat from the plasma tv was trapped in by that stupid "+1" sticker. They recommended an immediate replacement since the unit was supposedly "brand new." They even said that Western probably gave me the "display unit." ;p

So they made the report, they told me I could use the TV first until the replacement arrived. Guess what? My new PS51E550 arrived just last week! This time, its not the display unit. :D

I'm grateful to Samsung for allowing the replacement and to Western for delivering the unit to my place free of charge! Now all I have to do is call Samsung back so they can mount it on my wall.

Hope this helps! :)
