The commercials have more air time than the show itself, and i am not exaggerating. it's been a while since i last watched a local show, and i don't think i'll watch again.

The talent was underwhelming. Two good singers - the rocker chick and the last singer, some guy named Thor, who wasn't as good as the judges were making him out to be.
Lea Salonga looks really awkward when giving comments or even just listening/dancing to the performances. She looks like she's stage acting, very over-the-top expressions/reactions. Bamboo looks too much like Chiz Escudero for me to want anyone to be on his team. 8)
The set is really bad. The chairs look like they're ready to fall apart, the red button they press looks like a non-functional prop, they're pressed and the chairs spin in a wobbly manner without any sound whatsoever. Very undramatic, unlike the lights and sounds and swift chair spins when the button is pressed in the US/UK/Australian versions.
The distance to the stage/singer from the mentors is also very short, and instead of a white beam from mentor to singer, it's a green light slowly crawling up to the singer. Looks sad, actually. Nagmukha talagang Third World version of the set.

And by episode 2, they've fixed the set a bit. The green light is gone, and the chairs now make the trademark sound when turning (which might be editing on their part). I guess unlike the US version where they mix-and-match the performers during the airing of the blind auditions, all auditions shown yesterday were shot on the same day.

I'm watching it right now, I like watching the US version before Season 1 to Season 4 yata 'yun. But when Usher joined, 'di ko na ulit napanood. Medyo corny nga si LS at SG, pero sa tingin ko bebenta naman sa masa 'yung antics nila, which I think is their target market.

OA, sobra. Considering their backgrounds. !! Corny tuloy lumabas, parang may mali sa diskarte mga producers nito. ha ha, was excited to watch but nakita ko pa lang si Leah overclapping for a mediocre performance is disappointng. Oh well, may "uto" factor na naman mga to. LOL

si Sarah eh given na OA na yun, but Leah? OT: Usher is actually the most amusing and innovative coach in the latest season of The Voice, but drunk Blake Shelton seems to have the magical touch as always.

My wife was enticed to watch the local version including my kids since they enjoyed the US show pero sadly disappointing nga daw. Haven't seen the show though so I can't say much at this point. Favorite ng wife ko si Blake and Usher for my kids.

I was really disappointed w/ the way she "acts". trying hard to be "masa" hehehe. natuwa ako kay Apl, hirap mag tagalog yun pala ang galing magkapampangan (dati kasi hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit hirap sya mag tagalog eh dito naman siya lumaki sa pinas, yun pala mas fluent sya sa kapampangan kesa tagalog).
OA nga talaga si Leah...dinadala pagka-stage actress sa show... :P si Sarah G.?! masyadong magalang tong bata na ito...kakarindi na yung pag 'Po at Opo' neto...kaya wala pang boypren to e..pa inosente look(well..thanks to mommy divine) :D

Kahit ako... lalo pa kong nainis nung sinabi nya na hindi nya papasalihin ang anak nya sa mga reality show kasi daw hindi na tulad noon para maging artista or singer ka kelangan mong paghirapan talaga... wat?#$*&#@*!!! hehe! Masyadong bilib sa sarili. ;D

actually, there's some truth into that naman. back then, the likes of vilma santos and nora aunor were given their breaks because of their talent.
these days, as long as you look good and seem marketable, you are given the breaks na.

Some guy named "Guji" came out tonight, doing a duet with his sister. I don't know who he is, but Lea said he's been on stage and Sarah said he's in her latest movie.
Ang galing nung huling contestant ngayon, si "Lee Grane." First international caliber singer I've heard so far. I also liked the Tina Turner woman, pero medyo manipis yung boses.

+1. She's the only one I like out of all of them. I'm glad Bamboo got her. I thought at first Bamboo would be like the equivalent to Adam Levine. But it's looking more like he's a Blake Shelton. Lea's more like Levine, you either hate her or you love her (personally, I love her ;D )

i eagerly waited for this being a fan of the US version buit sadly Im feeling this is not a contest but parang scripted.
I really hate the way Tony G is handling her part, sobrang OA parang naging Pinoy Big Brother eh and I agree dun sa isang post ginawang telenovela.
si APL lang ang naayusan ako all the rest parang kulang sa pansin lalo na yung dalawang babae. And I thought I have seen the worst in a judge kay Charice na sobrang papansin mas matindi pala si SG at LS.
Rhada of Kulay used to be one of the best. She is a regular before sa ch 7, im surprised na nandito sya
Guji naman sikat na dati and has a regular soap sa ch 2, sikat na sya dati bakit kaya napunta sya dito

Disappointment lang nakikita ko sa show na ito. The OA judges, the dumb hosts, the telenovela treatment and the allowance of has-beens who already had their (slight) taste of success before and whose vocals (Radha & Thor) aren't really to die-for. And I heard Mau Marcelo (1st Philippine Idol winner) will try her luck this weekend. Ano ba yan?!

^ What a nice coincidence kung hindi scripted 'yung kagabi, 'yung isang nag blind audition, dream daw maka "duet" si Lea, walang pumili dun sa girl but she gets her wish, without Lea knowing (kunyari?) na isa sa dream ng girl na maka duet sya.
'Yung isa naman na boy, si Sarah daw ang gusto maging coach, ayun, just in the time of nick, pumindot si Sarah, the boy also got his wish. Whatta coincidence! :)

Scripted talaga. Yung ask ni LS kung may ibang foreign song si Mitoy, obviously para ipamalas ang talent. Aabot sa finals yan pambasag kasi may karakter si Mitoy na pwedeng comedy ang dating...

i watch the show to get entertained....
i get a few laughs, and that is enough for me...
don't waste your time if you have to labor and think if things are illusions or not, of course they are....
the show is about making money for the franchise holder and the franchisee....
the show is about the money, not the hosts nor the artists, it's all about making money...

Another singing show of never ending talent hunts. Soon there will no more art but a sea of mediocre singers bastardizing original artists' compositions.

I like the show, but that doesn't mean all praises lang ako, syempre pupunahin ko din 'yung mga hindi ko gusto.
Kagabi nga, pagkadating na pagkadating ko sa bahay, binuksan ko agad 'yung TV at nag tune-in agad ako sa TVP. Magaling 'yung nag ala Jason Mraz.

don't forget that there are production people much involved in what the "aired" program looks like...
a lot of editing was done, cut and paste here and there...
even the talents and the hosts themselves have no idea of what the final show will air like...
sometimes spontaneity is lost this way...
but always their goal is to have high ratings so that they can sell the program to more advertisers...
do they really care about the viewers? i doubt it....
it is always the bottom line that matters to them...
i would say last night's show wasn't all that bad....
first time that they had a standing ovation...
i feel for the Syrian, had he chosen an english song he could have made it...

With the exception of Bitoy, I pretty much thought everyone else they showed this weekend was forgettable.
I think the local undiscovered talent pool has mostly been drained already by all these reality competition singing shows on every single network. I've really only been impressed by two performers so far, and found last night's four chair turn undeserved.

Isa pang napansin ko, magmula ata ng nag umpisa yun show a few weeks ago, hindi pa nag palit ng mga damit yung mga coaches, although alam ko naman na 1 day lang ata nila na taping yung show, pero sana alam nila kung kelan airing ng bawat show para nakapag change costume man lang sila, para hindi masyado obvious na pinuputol-putol lang nila 'yung isang araw na taping nila.

Actually, they tape all the Blind Auditions over several days and the coaches have to wear the same clothes every day. They just edit the episodes to have a good mix of contestants per episode - not in the same order as the actual auditions. So the coaches all wear the same clothes over the entire Blind Audition process, so they can mix-and-match contestants as they create the episodes without worrying about continuity issues. Ganun din sa The Voice US/UK/Australia.
Also, when the Battle Rounds start, it's the same thing. All the battles are filmed over several days, the judges wear the same set of clothes, and they just mix-and-match during editing to make sure every night will have a few interesting performances.
Sa live shows lang nagpapalit-palit ng damit. :D

I remember my parents bought some Kundiman records back in the early 70s. Si Pilita Corales and Rick Manrique Jr. yata yon. After that, I don't know what happened to Kundiman.
Any chance na magkaroon ng Kundiman revival through The Voice? The basic objective of the voice is to find a recording artist.

Napahanga ako na kumanta siya ng kundiman. Hindi ko lang nakuha kung ano ang narinig nilang lahat sa boses niya na kakaiba, kaya sila umikot. Kahit si "Thor" nuong unang gabi, hindi ko makuha kung bakit lahat sila, umikot. Hindi rin ganun kagaling ang boses niya para sa akin.
Kaya siguro sila coach, at ako manonood.
But don't get me wrong. I'm still enjoying watching the show, especially now that I'm watching online and skipping the melodramatic back stories. I'm just not impressed by the singing of most of the contestants so far. I'll probably stop watching after the Blind Auditions, though. That's my pattern when it comes to this franchise. I find the Battle Rounds and Live Shows mostly boring.

Ako naman nagustuhan ko din 'yung kundiman 'yung kumanta ng "Uwahig". Kaso hindi ko nasubaybayan kung sino napili nya doon sa apat na coaches. Pipili na lang kasi, pinutol pa para sa commecial, sandamakmak na commercials :(

Baka na-intriga sila? At least that's what I was thinking when Juvie came on. There's this weird youtube video of her (and her pet pig) singing a Disney song so she may have a chance at this if she chooses the right pop songs.

OR it was a different experience for the judges compared to what we saw on TV, just like watching a concert iba pa rin kapag nandun ka and narinig mo yung boses ng artist in person. And most of these singing competition suffer from lossy audio output via transmission or mediocre sound engineering, I specifically noticed this when judges in The Voice of the PH give their comments parang may feedback sa background.

Baka na-intriga sila? At least that's what I was thinking when Juvie came on. There's this weird youtube video of her (and her pet pig) singing a Disney song so she may have a chance at this if she chooses the right pop songs.
I remember World Idol, when the Arabic Idol, Diana Karazon, sang some unique foreign song. I didn't like the song, but I liked her voice. Juvie's performance didn't connect with me that same way.
Puwede ngang there's an audio issue when it's broadcast. I remember Ryan Cayabyab talking about that same issue with the earlier episodes of Philippine Idol. Basta sa akin, manipis ang boses ng maraming nakakapasok so far based on what I've watched.
I'm still entertained by the show, if not by the contestants.

Maybe. But I had no doubt someone would turn around for her based on her voice. Even on TV she sounded good. And I was intrigued by her song choice. It would be in the best interest of any coach to give something unique a shot..

Noong blind audition, ang galing ni Lee Grane, but I have to say, kinain sya ng buhay ng ka-battle round nya na si Dan, sinapawan talaga. 'Yun lang, si Lee Grane pa din ang pinili ni Kawayan. ::)
Grabe boses ng mga lumaban sa Team Sarah at Team Lea. :o

As a Lee Grane fan from the auditions, I really have to agree that Dan was cheated, there's no way he deserved to lose to Lee Grane based on that performance. Wasn't too happy with the first battle result, either. The kid went off-key a few times, and had less power in his voice. But it was still more or less a toss-up for me. I don't mind that the Lorenzanas lost.
It would have been hard to call the last 2 battles, but I think the more deserving contestants won in both cases.
Only four battles per episode. Wow, September 8 pa mag-uumpisa ang Live Shows.

Dan was clearly the winner sa battle round and yet Lee Grane was chosen. wtf? So parang walang bearing yung battle round since wala palang pagasa si Dan simula umpisa lang. Naisip ko nga pinili talaga ni Bamboo si Dan akala niya cguro kayang kaya ni Lee Grane, unfortunately may ibubuga pala si Dan.

Although his pick in his battle was okay (I thought all three were comparable, with Angelique with a slight edge), Bamboo saying he preferred Sir Lord in the first battle and the boy in second battle proves that he's tone deaf. That boy in Lea's battle round was out of tune throughout most of the song.

i have never listened to mr. kawayan even back in his rivermaya days. strange really, while everybody's goin crazy bout him, i preferred kevin roy's(razorback) amazing set of lungs.
I was able to view the said video between dan and lee grane, and i was expecting lee would up the ante abit, but was disappointed she played safe, she should have improvised more, clearly it was dan's game.

Hindi ko din napanood before yung battle round ni Rada at Marissa, I just finished watching it on youtube. It was the one of the best battle rounds in TVP.

that was the issue with AI a few seasons ago, allen vs. lambert. there were accusations that the judges really wanted allen to win and made the finals piece more suitable to allen's voice and style.

According sa mga tweet ng production, they're thinking about implementing that if the show gets a second season. Also, not every version of the franchise internationally have the same set of rules. Tayo ata may groupings, meaning not all members of each coach's team will perform on a particular night (Group A for the first week, Group B second week) and this is not the case sa US franchise.

From what I've seen so far, the "Steal" is unique to the US franchise of the show, added to boost ratings since the Battle Rounds were the lowest-rated part of the show in the States.

even in the US, contest like this is decided by public votes ang labanan na lang sustainability, Mau Marcelo is the firts Philippine idol, Frenchie Dy is another singing contest champion pero wala na din sila, Sherine Regis is the better singer but Erik Santos became champ, Christian Bautista was 3rd then I think.
Myk even if he do not win this contest will probaly be having the most successfull career after this and so is Poalo Onesa.

kagaya nga ng post ko earlier, marami ang magugulat maliban sa akin kung ipabanat sa kanya ang mala opera tutal naman nasa broadway si Lea. a huge gamble but what the heck! may career naman na sya. baka mas mamangha pa nga ang karamihan lalo na kung mahusay ang orchestra. if i were his coach, yes -- klasikal pinoy istayl. yung tipong pormal/seryus sya pero may pitik comedy. ;) songs like, ako si mr suave.

maganda kay mitoy kahit medyo may edad na, versatile talaga. pwede pang comedy concert, just like ai-ai and vice are doing. pero kay mitoy tipong arena-rock songs with comedy. ganyan na siguro ipa-package ng abs ang career nya.

I arrived at the live show really early, so I got to watch the final 4 rehearsals.
What really struck me was that without the band and just chilling, Myk sounded really good. I was never impressed with him watching him on TV and was wondering how he got that far. Mitoy, on the other hand, went through the rehearsal looking bored (sanay na siguro), and wasn't really doing much, just singing the lyrics very softly. He was saving his voice for the show, I suppose.
Then when they performed the number at the actual show, Myk again sounded bad, and of course, Mitoy did his trademark belting.
I also cast a vote for Klarisse last night, but I'm not disappointed with who won. I'm just wondering: If my vote confirmation from Globe came in at midnight, did my vote arrive with them in time to be counted?

Same here. Confirmation for my Klarisse vote at midnight. Did they get it and late lang yung confirmation (since it is decidedly not priority) or pumasok lang at that time?
I'm sure with the "popsters" help and support we'll still hear from Klarisse down the road.
By the way, technically it was also a back to back win for the Benilde people during the weekend -- Megan Young Saturday night, Klarisse de Guzman Sunday night -- both current Benilde students.

How can Bamboo expect MYK PEREZ to win when their presentation was simply to mild.
Walang dating at agaw eksena pa si Bamboo. He sung more than half of the song Morning Rose at pasayaw sayaw pa while MYK simply seated and played the guitar and sang as if sya un back up singer.
Such a poor presentation for Bamboo and Myk.

Mitoy is recording all the songs he sang at the Voice as his first CD....buy the CD when it comes out if you want to help further his career....

I personally think his voice is powerful, but without the visual component, it's not something I'd listen to on my iPod.

i would love to see Mitoy in sitcoms and teleseryes, he's a natural comedian, great entertainer....about his voice, i wouldn't spend on his CD's...
my son bought a Jovit Baldovino CD, it was a dissapointment, pangit ang pagkakarecord.....

+1, you have to hear it live to appreciate mitoy's voice. If i would be his manager, the path I would take would be, first, stick to ASAP and do comedy shows here and there, then cash in on concerts and live performances. Sana they will veer off recording as I honestly would see this as an utter failure, his voice is only applicable to a certain kind of genre, ergo, marketability would be very limited (classic rock, OPM rock, power ballads), suggesting that his take on songs will be great to hear once in a while, but not everytime.

I'm a fan of mitoy since I've seen their performance in Blue Wave in macapagal, but we have to accept his limitations. I for one would like to see him succeed. His attack on songs is to incite fun, true to the rock spirit, nothing more, nothing less...

haha, that's his beauty. that's part of his appeal. and I like him for being that way. I even had the chance to hear him perform Led Zeppelin's stairway to heaven. An absolute classic with his own twist. ;)

kahit boto ako sa kanya sa The Voice, malamang di ako bibili ng album nya pero pag may nagbigay ng libre kukunin ko, i would rather buy the album of Darryl Shy if meron sya lalo na yong kinanta nya sa one on one nila ni mitoy
