Yung dac2dsdse pwede mo pakinggan dito sa house, yung dac2 pwede kong dalin for you to try sa system mo... With the dac2dsdse priced twice that of the dac2, the latter becomes good value really. Plus if on a later date you want to go dsd, the dac2 is upgradable.
I have started my journey digitally and have been happy until the dac2, it made me happier. But with the dac2dsdse i got mixed emotions. Its not cheap eh. ^-^
But only till the break in is completed can I truly say if its all worth it (so far kasi the changes for me are not enough to quantify twice the amount) ... Unfortunate for us in the hobby, little changes cost so much.

Like the dac2, this one is going nuts during break in. 60+ hours and the mids is all over the place. But since the previous dac exhibited the same, i know that is alright and will only get much better.
Ang tagal nga lang ng 400hours.... :o

70+ hours and now the bass goes boomy.... Sakit sa ulo! Huhuhu..... The speed this is going, I should be normalizing by 200 hours (good news yan kung sakasakali)....

I mean kasi nga dahil sa break in minsan nakaka inis lang...kaya nga "your patience will be rewarded"...yung ARC LS27 medyo smooth na rin..imagine 600 hrs ang break in...kaya nga 24/7 din itong bukas... >:D

To be honest I never did believe in break ins.... Until the dac2. Grabe roller coaster, up and down at nagwawala ang mga frequecies.

At 90+ hours the sound stage went wild... Lol. T'was kinda freaky....
Now at 120+ hours everything is in its place...the bass tightened and the mid and highs are constantly giving more details. Another 12+ days to go.... But already it is so much an improvement over its predecessor...

Sana nga brader... Pero according to most users ng dac na to, 400 hours daw talaga. Sometimes a bit more... Oh well kung nag iimprove naman as hours build up eh ok lang kahit 800 hours pa.... Hehehe

I don't know for a fact really, but I suspect it should be the hydra. But then again new technology yung venom ps8... Who knows?

Now around 170+ hours and everything seems fine... I am so happy how it sings now, hard to believe it can get better than it is now...

Yung nasa computeraudiophile said something similar to what I just mentioned. Pero.... Nag improve pa daw.
The break in commenced after it started to relax iirc.
Relaxed na ako pero di pa ako sure yung dac din.... ^-^

Conclusion
Assigning the Wyred 4 Sound with specific sonic characteristics is difficult, as the best a DAC can do is completely remove itself from the sonic experience. On most tracks the DSDse does just that, completely removes itself from the sonic experience. The soundstage is vast and uncolored and the leading and trailing edges of notes have great attack and sustain. Particularly, cymbals on orchestral music. Horns and strings in small ensemble are a tremendous step up from the Eastern Electric MiniMax that is my everyday DAC. Comparing the DSDse to something in the über DAC category, like the Empirical Audio Overdrive, the DSDse is slightly lacking in the analog character that the Overdrive squeezes out of recordings. Then again it should at nearly three times the price,. Even so, the Wyred 4 Sound supports a far greater breadth of formats and is very close in channel separation and S/N. In its price range, the DAC-2 DSDse gives up very little if anything to its pricier competitors in sonic performance.

Was working to have a local techman for w4s here, it turns out they were arranging one in Singapore. If it does pan out, dac2 owners would be in for a treat as mods can be done nearby...
I like the idea the w4s incorporated on their products especially the ability to be upgraded instead of getting phased out for a new model.
W4s seems to pick the better materials too, like the ess9018 sabre chip as well as the femto crystal which are the best as of this time.

Femto clocks have a very good reputation ..... The geek pulse i pre-ordered will not be here soon...... Sana umabot by December.
