Is your AM2 motherboard equipped with a PCI-E slot (some were AGP)? If so, you can try a modern graphics adapter that accelerates video decoding. That'd help quite a bit.
The Sempron LE would still be limited in terms of file formats that it can handle, however. Its CPU performance is comparable to a Brazos APU. It will work with the majority of things out there, but expect some hiccups along the way.

Thanks for the reply
Board has pcie slot
Ordered already a 6450
Will use xbmc
Is xbmc cpu or gpu dependent?
-
it is not just the player, but also have to do with your movie file.
if the movie file you have supports DXVA, then PC will use GPU. if the movie file does not support DXVA, then PC will use CPU.

a Radeon HD 5450 would already be enough to do the job. and it costs under 2k! ;)

I have a build with AMD E-350, 4GB RAM, AMD HD6450 running on XBMC and can play Remuxed MKVs and Blurays smoothly.

Setup done
Htpc specs:
Athlon 3600
2gb mems
6450 vc
74gb hdd
Tplink wireless nic (used to connect to remote xbmc server)
Movies are stored in a different pc with xbmc running 24/7
Diskless server, torrent downloaded etc
Is there a way to make xbmc run as service?

if short ka din sa budget, zacate is enough
e-350 hanap ka lang meron pa nyan sa gilmore sa murang halaga na lang..
procie at mobo na.. hdd, case, psu at ram na lang kulang mo.

Will this play without hiccups? May nakita ako naka sale na ganyan 4500 ata. are you going to use windows for this build or xbmcrapu or other linux program. or should i get a cheaper pre owned intel 775 core2duo with a dedicated gpu.

Kapag nka i3 or i5 ako at integrated na graphics na;
1. pede pa ba ako magdagdag ng Video Card?
2. Hindi ba mababali wala ang power ng i3?
3. Gagana pa rin ba yung HDMI na integrated sa MOBO?
Salamat po mga Sirs! Good day po!

those are powerful CPU's sir and the on board GPU is decent. if strict HTPC purpose lang those will be more than enough. you might also want to consider AMDs APU They have better gpu. And yes all boards (from your choices) have a PCIE slot which means you can add a discreet card.

balitaan mo ako sa performance. May nakita kasi ako naka sale pero at that price of 2800 it's hard to beat. dagdag ka nalang ng ram at case less than 10k may htpc ka na.

hindi po ako magbubuo sir.. nakabili nabayaran ko na kasi nun yung i3 motherboard nung may bumili ng E350.. hehe medyo surprised lang 2800 cpu+mobo 1080p capable.. hehe

From what I've read mabagal daw mag load to if using windows. So I'm thinking of a linux xbmcrapu but i have no idea on how to use linux. hehehe
-
weak po processor sir.. kung mabagal man magload.. im sure hindi po malayo sa i3... you can upgrade to ssd.. kahit booter lang 32 or 64gb for ultra fast loading:D

Pwede naman mabilis ang Windows bootup basta walang anti-virus installed. Linux is faster and has better boot up time. Suggested GPU is NVIDIA as this is more native in Linux than ATI. What is good in Linux when using multiple external hard drives is that it doesn't need to assign drive letters unlike in Windows. Sometimes in XBMC if the drive letter assigned is not the drive letter when you last used your external hard drive, all the info in your library for specific movie folders doesn't load.

Cool. Thanks. Windows build nalang siguro. I think i have a an old 40G ssd around.
