For the lack of other options, I bought this player. Does a good job so far. I've tried a 1TB WD External, and it plays all my mkv files.

Don't like the karaoke function though.

Got this unit as a replacement for the Pioneer BDP-3120 (which I returned to SM because it was region-locked for DVDs).

Basically, it's the same as the BDP-3120 except for:

1. 3D capability;
2. Karaoke function; and
3. Price - it's more expensive by Php 1,000 because of #1 and 2 above.

Here are my thoughts on this player:

Pros:

1. Small and compact;
2. Seems to read/load my blu rays faster than the PS3;
3. As with any Pioneer, can play just about anything (CDs, CD-Rs, DVDs, Bluray);
4. No region lock for DVDs; and
5. Comes with a free HDMI (1.4).

Cons:

1. The LCD display is horrible - it's too small (can't even show the track number, if playing a CD), it's green, and my previous 2010 Pioneer's display is way, way better. It's like circa 2000, Nokia 5110 era;
2. Because of #1, it feels cheap;
3. The remote is bad - the keys are too small and cramped.

Buy or Don't Buy?

Don't Buy, if you're picky about how your players look. This one is small, too light, poor display. It looks and feels cheap.

Buy, if the overall look of the player is not a concern :)

Wala ka na ata makikita LG bdp325, LG din first choice ko, kaya lang kahit saan ako magpunta this pioneer 3220 lang ang available.

Region locked ba ito sa BD?

^I don't have BDs from other regions, so I can't say. My understanding though is that only the DVD region lock is removed, BD region lock remains.

Hope other owners can chime in.

1. Hi, is the Karaoke function the only difference between the 3110 and 3220?
2. Does the 3220 have upscaling capability for both the player and the usb input?
3. How does this compare with the Pio 440?

Thanks

1. AFAIK, 3d capability and karaoke.
2. No idea.
3. Mine was a Pio 420, so I can't comment. As I mentioned in my post, the older Pio feels more expensive.

Hi. Sorry for reviving this old topic. May I ask if this player could also be used as an audio source without using an external DAC? Specs says it has an internal DAC already.

Thanks!

Yes, red and white RCA jacks for audio out.
