I would like to share the stereo systems that I have assembled and enjoyed over the past decade.
This was 2006. My son was a one-year old.

Had the Magnepan MG12 and Cambridge CDP (from accastil), AI Modulus 2B and Lovan racks (from Rene Rivo) and B&K Sonata amp (from noctilux). Bass traps and cable lifters from Adoy/Solidtubes.
By 2007, some changes have occurred.

Acquired a Vincent valve CDP (from jopet) and an Audio Research Classic 60 (from hein).
Decided to go analog in 2008 with the acquisition of a VPI Scout (from George M.)

Then, the thrill of trying out new devices reigned over me.

Got a new Audio Research SP16 (from Lito Gelano) and pair of rosewood Aurum Cantus V6F (from Audio Amplified). Used Anti-cable speaker wires (from Gerry Kaimo) and Xindak line conditioner.

This was what made up my home stereo system before I needed to dispose them as my family was preparing to migrate. Thank God I did! A few months after, our home in Cainta was severely damaged by Ondoy. Imagine what would have happened.

After about four months, I realized I was not really an HT fan and that I wanted better audio reproduction. Add the fact that I had amassed over a thousand audio CDs by this time. So I traded my Infinity speakers for a pair of Celestion 300 (with WS member Donlovejoy)

Yup doc 6 months ko lang ata nagamit yung unit eh. That amp had plenty of power pero malambing tumunog. Hindi masakit sa pandinig.

Played Mayorga's The Missing Linc LP, first track pa lang ibang klase na. Super quiet background, excellent resolution and really liquid sonics. Little details and nuances of instruments more pronounced including the bass notes. Better channel separation and greater depth. Bigger yet refined sound.
Puyatan na naman ito. Seems like I have a whole new system altogether.
A look at the simple and very neat dual mono layout inside. Choice of parts and build quality are top-notch. The unit came with extra Gain cards to allow "card rolling". So easy to use it's like adding a memory card to boost RAM. The unit is heavy even without batteries, but with Energizers it scales 38 lbs.

One reason I opt for the unit is that Ron's company is devoted to building phono preamps. I think he doesn't make any other product types. And he personally answers after-sales issues. It also works the same way anywhere on the planet (being battery-powered) so pwede ko madala at magamit sa Pinas if ever without worrying about voltage conversions :)

I think you can still use Cardas for measurements especially for the short wall. Then make some adjustments so it's not at the room's centre spot. If you can place speakers at least 2 feet away from the back wall, that would be nice. I've found out Harbeths like ample free space around it. Mine is about 4.5 feet from back wall, and 3 feet from sides.

Kris, they are Audes Maestro speakers. Made in Estonia.
I've previously heard a pair of Audes monitors and was impressed by its sound and value.
Very smooth tumunog, walang talas. Malamig sa tenga. Detailed but not clinical. Natural sounding din pero mas mahusay sa imaging yung Harbeth. Ganda ng bass!
Sound character is similar to a Vienna Acoustics and a Focal JM Lab.

Yes, medyo magulo tunog nung baligtad. Yung left speaker kasi nailagay ko sa kanan and vice-versa hehe
After I switched, it became more coherent. The design of speakers has the tweeter and mid driver off-centre so dapat tama ang placement for better soundstage.

Dun ako nakabili sa mga shops malapit sa Sta Monica beach - ok din naman mura lang.

Mahirap talaga sumingit pag kasama family sa trip hehe. Ang style ko sunod sunuran ako kay misis sa kung ano ang pupuntahan, then towards end of day tsaka ko sasabihin na may dadaanan kami. Alam na niya yun at hindi na sya makahindi :)
We went to Amoeba after spending the entire day at Universal. I also went to Atomic Records in Burbank. Nice little vinyl shop where I got mint Bobby Enriquez LPs for $3 each. I listen to a lot of ECMs. Always good recordings. Magagaling yung artists na namention mo. Try mo rin Enrico Rava, Arild Andersen, Terje Rypdal, etc.
Nakita ko nga pending sale na M30, Congratulations sir Audie! Baka type mo yung Proac towers. Ganda yun!

Went to my "suki" dealer to pick up the new RCM as my Nitty Gritty has broken down. Was also looking forward to hearing the Acapellas which replaced JM Lab towers.

I was impressed by the sound of these German horns. Sonics were much better than Avant Garde duos and trios I listened to before. They were being powered by Burmester amp hooked up to a Burmester digital source and Clearaudio TT. Phono was a Thoress.
The Acapellas provides outstanding music and SQ. Very entertaining!

to my knowledge, some Lawrence Audio models use drivers made by Aurum Cantus and Mundorf caps (like AC), so there will be some similarity in sonic signature.
I heard on a day I was targeting top level speakers, so hard to stand out.

the Lawrence stuff are not cheap, if they share parts with Aurum Cantus - I will definitely give AC stuff a serious listen. A local audiophile has the AC Genesis which retails for US $ 26k, I know this guy can spend a lot more than that on speakers but is happily living with it.
Yes Ding those Lawrence creations (from Taiwan) are not cheap and have a lot of stiff competition in its price range from North American and European manufacturers.
If sound is similar to AC, then I might have to pass. Nothing negative or anything but only because I like to try a product I haven't owned before :)

Verity is not known for good measurement, but they make musical speakers for sure. I would take a musical system over a system that measures well but sound sterile any day.. if musical and it measures good, that's a bonus.

Precisely
Coveted a Verity since I heard the Parsifals years ago. These use same midrange drivers.
I actually don't pay attention to measurements. Always going for sound and build quality.
The speakers are not so big but they are really heavy. Cabinetry is truly beautiful in person :)

Hi nolax!
The Titus are a tad on the 'bright' side. The extra tweeter on the back of each speaker results in a rich treble that exposes more details in upper frequencies. Balanced mid range. Definitely taut and hefty bass!
Overall an enjoyable Filipino creation. Bang for the buck.
