Closed na ba Listening in Style sa Robinson's Metro East or under renovation lang? I went there last saturday to audition sana yung Yamaha RX-V440 pero closed na.

Sir Meridian-Audio,

Got this from the yamaha thread for your info.

Yun nga eh. 1K++ lang ata ang difference.

Let me give everyone an account of my experience as a heads up:

I went there intending to buy a receiver. I already checked out the RXV530 the day before so i was really planning on buying it but the person I spoke to before was out so another person assisted me. I told him that I wanted to get the RXV530 but if he had anything else with in my budget which was 15K. He showed me the RXV440. The 530 was 12K+ while the 440 was 13K+. I asked him which was better, he said that the 530 was better. He did say that 440 was awarded. I asked him why it was better and he started spitting out some technical jargon about wattage, channels, decibels, etc... He said that the 530 was newer and was a better buy than the 440. So, I trusted him and decided on the 530. I told him then that i would charge a portion of it to my credit card & cash out about 3K.

Here's the 1st issue: the lady cashier then told me that since i was paying via card, they would have to add 6% to the amount being charged. I thought okay lang since I was already decided on buying it.  While i was at the cashier though, I saw a flyer of promotional items they had. It showed that the 530 could be charged at 0% in 6 installments!! So I asked the cashier about it. She looked at the flyer as if seeing it for the first time. She had to ask a colleague kung pwede pa raw. Of course, pwede pa! The flyer had dates on it! I asked the sales guy why they did not mention the promo to me but i did not get an answer. Anyway, they processed my purchase and the cashier swiped my card for the installment plan. They could still accept my payment of 3K and charge the remaining balance via the 6 month installment.

Here's the 2nd issue: The cashier then told me that declined yung transaction. I asked her what the decline reason was but the lady just tossed the card onto the counter then walked away. d**n!   The sales guy saw this and probably felt awkward. He immediately asked a more senior looking lady cashier to assist me. The older lady was kind enough to dial up Citibank customer service for me. From them I found out that the first cashier had inputted the full amount of 12K+ instead of the 9K+ remaining. That was the exact reason why I was paying 3K in cash because I knew what my available limit was (about 11K+)! I informed the older lady cashier of this and she tried the transaction again which of course was approved! All the while, the younger cashier was no where in sight and the older cashier kept asking the sales guy where she was. Apparently she just walked out the store after tossing my card.

And of course the 3rd issue I have now is I was talked into buying an older model actually and not a newer one than the 440 plus there is a big difference in the performance of the 2.

I just hope the owner or one of the managers of Listening In Style Shang read this or hear about this so that they can keep a closer watch of their employees.

To others, make sure you do thorough research before buying something. DO NOT TAKE THE WORD OF A SALES PERSON AT THE STORE.

2 or 3months ago, I have experience the same thing din bro, the thing is, may isang mukang mayaman na customer sila, dun lahat sila nakatutok, wala man lang lumapit sa akin para tanungin ako kung ano kailangan ko, bibili sana ako ng speaker stand na naka-display dun... di ko na lang binili at umalis na lang ako kasi mukang busy sila sa pakikipag-kwentuhan dun sa isang customer nila... by the way, almost 10 minutes din ako naghintay na may mag-asikaso sa akin, pero deadma...

i've been a long time customer of theirs and more often than not, they're always busy. even i sometimes have to rush my transactions. that's why i usually go there during off-peak hours when i want to do some serious equipment auditioning.

on the contrary, they offer the best prices in the market, even better than sights & sounds (whose owner also happens to be a good friend) or theaterworks.

i'm calling them right now to give your feedback. just let me know if you need anything from them or from sights and sounds so i can refer you.

ok, just talked to them about your concerns. aside from their apology, they want to advise all customers to just let your intentions be known so they can serve or assist you in your requirements.

Actually, I also encountered the same problem. I went inside the store because I was going to buy a Pioneer DVD player. Unfortunately, not even one sales person accommodated me. The sad thing is, hindi naman busy, since isang customer lang naman ang nasa store other than me. So I just went out.

I bought my DVD player at Theater Works instead. (Hehe same group lang naman ;))

Thank you for your nice complement.

I believe that customers attitudes towards spending are not only influenced by the price, but also by the level of service they receive. Price is not the only factor taken into account when making purchasing decisions.

Agree. Between two products with the same price, i normally buy from those manning the store with better product knowledge and are more courteous.

i have no problems with the people from listening room mega.  i buy stuff there also.  if they don't attend to you it doesn't mean they are snobs.  they just probably won't bother you browsing til you call their attention when you have some inquiries.  siguro it depends on the person.

actually yun ganun style pa nga mas gusto ko.  yun hindi ako iniintindi.  sometimes kasi i really just browse and admire all the equipment and merchandise.  ayoko yun lalapit bigla sakin and mag eentertain eventhough wala naman talaga ako intention to buy.  minsan nga sumusunod pa sakin.  naiilang ako pag ganun.  instead of looking at each and every display...napapamadali pa nga ako kasi i feel uncomfortable browsing with someone looking over my shoulder.  so i can't wait to leave the establishment pag ganun.

people in listening room mega are actually very nice and accommodating.

Hello, Sorry but I dont agree with this hehe... But of course not all of us prefer/choose the same things..First of all, I have to say that I love listening group and nothing against them. I like them especially the way they price things. REAL MARKET VALUE..not like those other appliance stores..Anyway back on topic. I think it should go like this:

Customer walk in the door.
Salesman/owner: Hello, good morning, how are you? May I help you?
Customer: Hello, Im just browsing, Thanks
Salesman/owner: Ok pls just let me know if you need anything or have any questions.. I will just be over here.
Customer: Thanks

Ok regarding the bald guy, ya parang nga masungit ( sorry)..If he is the owner mismo he should be more friendly, whether it be looks (smiling face) or more talkative, meaning greeting people..Anyway I purchased an optical cable here before and I was just asking some stuff about the cable parang isang tanong isang sagot siya (sorry thats how I feel) Tsaka parang he is bothered or something when Im asking him questions...Anyway, I think he should be more smiling..and maybe talk more ( you know what I mean wag lang yun salita ng salita and na irritate na ang customer. Huag naman ganun hehe..) Actually if you are the owner/manager, you should be the one greeting people diba..

Pinaka cool sa akin si Minnie, yun babae doon, she is sometimes in listening room or listen up in glorietta. Cool and friendly siya kausap, Dapat medyo ganun ang sales people. ;D

Yep, also had a not so good experience here. I went there off-peak and konti lang customer.

Like most people here, I value Customer Service more than price.  The Customer should ALWAYS be right, ika nga.  I never compromise that with anything - even price.  Kung bastos ang salesperson/owner, he will never get any of my business.

With that said, I have NEVER, in all my dealings with the LIS Group of Companies, felt that I was snubbed or maltreated or received poor customer service from them.  Never.  Even the friends and relatives that I sent their way got good service.

Just my .02 guys!

Well said. As I said earlier, customers attitudes towards spending are not only influenced by the price, but also by the level of service they receive. Price is not the only factor taken into account when making purchasing decisions.

When I bought my first HT speakers (Yamaha NS-55) from them (2000 or 2001), i'm quite happy with the way I was serviced. It was a casual conversation between me and their staff. JR was there, he was the one who actually played the DTS Demo (#4 pa ata yun!). He was guiding and giving instructions to his staff while my speakers were being setup. They were neither snubbed nor ecstatic, we're casual. But I can say that they're accommodating. I was able to checkout their HT Room and listen (audition) to Atlantic Technology speakers.

Throughout the years, when I was introduced to Sights & Sounds (Park Square), The Home Theater, Hyperaudio (Rene Rivo), dealings were different. Yes, we can say that these guys are friendlier than those in Listening Room.

But for me the reason why I stopped buying anything from them (I remember I also bought a car stereo from them) is not because they're less friendly (I still do visit their shop, the girl in the counter still remember me) but because of the take-home-now-pay-later scheme of the other shop I mentioned above.  ;D

Kung nasusupladuhan kayo sa LR Mega, try LIS-Shang  ;D ;D ;D

Cheers!!!

By the way, are we in the right board/section?

i also purchased a couple of av equiptments here before theater works in trinoma opened.

i noticed that they're a bit under staffed when it comes to sales personnel or their selling area, there are  other  personnel who seem to be busy doing something else and does not assist customers looking around and would not mind you at all.

meron din ditong female sales rep who's seem to be accommodating, kaso parang sya lang nag aasikaso sa lahat ng buying customers kaya ang nakaka inis, eh yung 2 o tatlo kayo minsan na inaasist at kausap nya di ka tuloy maka pag tanung ng maayos. though accomodating sya dapat one customer at a time lang ;)

there is also this one time na ang nag assist sakin eh di mukang sales staff...parang driver ata sya maliit na lalaki na may key chain na nakasabit sa pants ;D very helpful kaso pag mag de-demo na mag aantay ka pa ulit ng sales staff.

the lady at the counter is the consistent one ;D "o pirma ka dito", "one year warranty, itago mo lang resibo dahil eto ipapakita mo" etc... ;D

over all...lumipat nalang ako sa theater works ;D

Nice thoughts.  Will try to work out take-home-now-pay-later scheme. Good idea.  Give us a few days to figure this out. Will advise to the public once we have this scheme available...

Ya thats the thing, you bought a wharfedale D9, I bought a 600 pesos optical cable hehe. I think thats the difference. Im just making a point that sometimes kasi stores look/base people on what they buy/looks (wearing shorts, slippers etc). Ive experienced this not only on appliance stores but regular stores. If for example, I walk in a store and gonna buy a pioneer plasma tv, ready to down Im sure some stores will cuddle me like a baby but siempre I may be wrong, some store get these kind of clients regularly.....Thats why I dont want to judge anybody and I also say SOME stores. IMO, The issue at hand here to me is not pinpointing listening room, its customer service on all stores.

Like I say Listening group is the best for me. Even I havent bought much from them, the stores Ive visited is very accomodating, even thru phone lang. Listening in style is excellent..Theaterworks, even if I havent met sir nemesis, the salespeople he have there is very very nice and accomodating. Listen up is also great and accomodating. These are the ones I visited and they have one of the best services. Im sure listening room also have great service, its just talaga there may be so much people talaga there, of course its tiring talaga for them. Again im not judging. I still visit listening room anyway, cool parin sila sa akin..

I have been there also and I would say generally ok naman ang service nila, except that if you go somewhere else you see stores which provides you with better service  ;) again for me that doesn't mean they give a not so quality service. One gauge of which stores you should deal with and be assured of quality service is the Audio-Video Stores thread. Look at the active thread(s) and find out who answers your querry, diba its  great to know that the owners themselves answer your concerns. Just my thoughts  ;D

Yung iba kc parang may ibang inaasikaso(maybe repairs, new stocks) then at the same time kumakausap sa customers. Siguro kulang lang ng sales people na focused lang sa customers and wala nang ibang task. Nasa megamall kc sila so sobrang dami ng tao

well based on my experience they were quite friendly yun lang nga wrong info i was trying to get an LCD TV from them a few months ago it was arnd 830pm ang selling point pa nga nila was sir if u want deliver narin natin ngyn yung TV mo so i was pretty pleased kaso when i inquired about the 37A3000E i was told na wala na talagang stock nun anywhere so i had to think about it namuna cause i wanted a 37 inch not the 32 inch to my surprise nung nagtext me sa mga listening stores i was able to get a reply from listening in style sa may eastwood na they had so i went there and got my TV yun lang nga i had to go to shangrilla para swipe card ko since bago palang yung shop but i got free delivery for the hassle and they people who installed my TV were really nice and accomodating so overall got good service naman and value for my money

siguro nga depende rin tlga yun sa dami ng tao at a certain time ksi symepre minsan if madaming tao sa shop you cant expect na mabilis service diba the time i went there was pretty late so i had all the attention hheheheh

Unfortunately, I had also gone through a similar experience of less than friendly service with Listening Room in Megamall about 2 or 3 Saturdays ago. I wanted to pick up a pair of high quality headphones and when i was inside the shop no one assisted or even acknowledged me after about 10 minutes, even though there weren't too many customers.  :-[

I ended up buying from somewhere else.

I have experienced something similar a few years ago at the "Listening Room"(?) in Megamall B 3rd Flr.

The owner (I think he is the one who has a clean shaven head) has a frowning face on several occasion I entered their shop (interval of months per visit). I don't know if that his natural expression or he seem to have a bad day very often. You ask him a question and he seem to want to bite you off. Note, I don't know him personally nor does he know me, and I have never bought anything from the store. I was just shopping around (with plans on deciding which components are best to get and from what shop) . Well, as for the staff, yes they do ignore you once in a while (note: not all the time).

I guess these kind of attitudes and atmosphere that they project from the shop, seem to make their business/shop less inviting to people like me, IMO.

I'm sure other people have more positive experience with this particular store, but certainly not for me.

ganun ata talaga mga staff ng listening room... nung una kong pasok dun wala din pumapansin sakin kasi naka shorts, tsinelas tsaka sando lang ako nun... pero itong shop na to kasi pinakamalapit sa bahay namin so pagmay kailangan ako na wala sa ace hardware or sa ibang store for my home theater... dito bagsak ko... anyway... bumalik ako dun to see if may AVR na mura pero that time naka nike shoes ako, arsenal jersey, jogging pants, tag watch and gym bag... di pa din nila ako pinansin... mukha kasi siguro akong bisaya... kaya i have to get their attention and ask what i need... too cut the long story short... sa kanila ako nakabili ng AVR kasi mas mura compare to ace tsaka same brand ng AVR na gamit nila dun sa shop... tapos naka chikahan ko na yung lady staff nila dun na mukhang bisaya din...  from that time pag dumadaan ako dun kahit naka tsinelas, shorts and sando lang ako... pinapansin na nila ako... suki na kumbaga... marami rami na din akong nabili dun such as coaxial cords for ampli... discounted surround speakers...cord for subwoofer etc...  mas madalas kasi ako nasa megamall kesa sa shangrila kaya madalas sa kanila ako nakakabili ng mga minor accessories for my home theater... pero pag medyo mahal na mga accessories and add-ons sa HT... I go to sights and sounds first... dun kasi unang punta ko... full customer service agad kahit naka tsinelas, shorts and sando lang ako... no problem to audition everything you are considering to buy

Wow, had a similar experience late last year. Went to their megamall store and there were no other customers. Di ako pinapansin. Tried asking for information on their TVs but the sales guy i talked to kept answering back in one liners in a very rude way. Then a chinese guy comes in and all the sales people were suddenly very polite and helpful to this guy. It seemed like these guys didnt think i was a serious buyer. Ended up buying my 32" lcd and 50" plasma from Theaterworks....

Your money also ended up in one bank account since it has the same owners.  ;)

Seriously speaking... if you are really on the hunt, try to look for Oliver at Mega or JR at LIS Shang, this guys will go out of their way to help you and gives a decent discount.

As for Theaterworks, I haven't got the chance to meet Jeff yet, but the sales rep at Trinoma and Robinsons Forum Pioneer are all okay, very accomodating.

Maybe LIS Group's sales rep needs to have a team building or seminar to have a common practice on how to do the right customer service. They may have their reasons but a customer is still a customer. They have to put the customer FIRST.

Here's my experience....

Went to LS Shangri-la sometime in December of last year as I wanted to get a universal mounting bracket for my newly purchased projector. I had previously called two other stores, LS Megamall and Theaterworks Trinoma and both have priced the mount at P2.5k. But because I stay in the Mandaluyong area, the best choices for me were Megamall or Shangri-la. And since we all know that parking in Megamall is always a nightmare, especially in the Xmas season, I opted to go to LS Shangri-la. With the thought that the Shang branch being a Listening Group member also, I didn't bother to call anymore to inquire about the price. I was surprised when upon inquiring at the Shang branch, I was informed that the price was 5K. The same item for double the price? It didn't make any sense to me. I told them that I'm a Pinoy DVD member and that Trinoma and Megamall were giving it to me for 2.5K. Then without saying a word to me, they began to install the bracket. I thought they did this because they agreed to the price that was quoted to me by the 2 other branches. But when they finished installing, they still insisted on the price of 5K. They really didn't want to bring the price down so I had it un-installed. I then decided to call Minnie of LS Megamall and relayed what happened to her. She was quick to assist me and told me that she will have somebody bring the bracket to where my car was parked in Shangri-la so I wouldn't have to move anymore. The transaction was done from where I was and I didn't even have to go to Megamall anymore.

Just sharing my experience with the Shang branch. Now whenever I need anything, I just deal with either Belen of Theaterworks and Minnie of Megamall.

In my experience, I tried buying an I-Nix IPOD Docking Station from Listen Up Glorietta.  The guy who was there told me that the said item is out of stock but if I can wait for an hour, he'll have the item.  So I was with my family and ate lunch.  Upon going back after an hour and a half eh wala pa daw at magantay nalang ako.  I went back after an hour and wala pa rin.

I ended up buying the item from another shop.  :-\

Medyo suplado talaga ang dating ni Oliver (Listening Room), I NEVER ask any question sa kanya, isang tanong isang sagot lang kasi siya, medyo kulang sa karinyo sa mga consumer, so when I drop by their shop I only chat with Minnie, she entertains well, and answers all questions with a smile and a suggestion of which is a better deal...

Just an opinion though...

I thought I am the only person who experienced this...anyway let me tell you what are my experiences with them. The first ever av store I visited is their store in Glorietta (I think it's Listening Room). I don't have any idea what to buy then because I am a noob and just followed the suggestions I received here in Pdvd on where and what to buy and Listening Room or Listening in Style is one of the stores that many suggested. So what I did is visit their store in Glorietta and check some of their stuff.  I asked the saleslady  about some of their speakers and receivers but the saleslady don't have any idea what she is selling so I approached the man in the counter and asked how much the price of those items are kaso parang sobrang suplado kasi isang tanong isang sagot lang. So I became hesitant to ask more questions and what I did is go out of their store and end up buying all of my av gears in SGT where I experienced good customer service.

Some time naman last December I visited their store in Mega because I am looking for an av rack for my lcd tv na pasok sa budget ko. I saw this one rack (Sabretech) which is nice looking at mura pa. Anyway I leave their store empty handed kasi nga I don't like the attitude of the people in that store. I went to Shang (kanila din yata yung isang store dun) and visited all the av stores there and one of them is Listening in Style or Room. I haven't experienced the same thing at their store in Shang kasi medyo okay naman yung salesman at maasikaso pero hindi pa rin ako bumili kasi masyadong mahal para sa budget ko. :) Anyway, I end up buying the Sabretech in Mega Listening Room kasi yun na lang yung av rack na talagang pasok sa budget ko at ganda rin naman. Kaso ang tagal ko naghintay dun at walang nag-aatend sa'kin para sabihin kung ano na nangyari sa binili ko and then I saw this man in the counter patiently talking to this person who is interested in buying an LCD and ht equipment.

I don't have anything against their stores sana lang they practice good customer relation para hindi sila mawalan ng mga potential buyers.

Pinaka cool sa akin si Minnie, yun babae doon, she is sometimes in listening room or listen up in glorietta. Cool and friendly siya kausap, Dapat medyo ganun ang sales people. ;D

I was there at Listening this afternoon and I told ate Minnie about your comment.. She says she wants to know who you are so that she can thank you personally for the positive feedback... Bait nga talaga yun si ate Minnie... :)

whew! akala ko ako lang ang naka experience ng ganito, marami din palang iba. i am still hunting for my
hdtv and i am on my two weeks now. i felt so humiliated when i visited all the av shops at shangrila. ni isa,

Parang nanliliit ako whenever I enter those AV shops. Kaya sa Theaterworks Trinoma ako palagi bumibili.

for me relative naman kung paano ang approach ng bawat av store, i bought my set sa listening in style sa shang, for me ok naman ang pag accomodate sa akin, have bought stuff narin kina sir vic sa sight and sounds and i'll say the staff was also ok. but one thing na napansin ko, if pumasok ka and you don't ask for assistance, they let you be, for me mas gusto ko ng ganun, i observe first kasi, imagine sa sm department stor diba, just looking kalang, and these sales ladies keeps pestering you. even sa theaterworks, when i went there, wala akong balak bumili, so i just looked around and went out after, wala din naman nag approach sa akin, but ok lang sa akin yun. ang bad trip siguro, is when you already asked for assistance an d hindi ka nila inasikaso or worse iniwan ka for another customer. never happened to me before though.

pero as you said, with a 100k to burn, its their loss not yours. btw, pag may makita kapang pv70, go for it, ang dagdag lang sa pv80 its just a sd card slot i think.

@iiinaslao

actually,I have already decided to buy the Samsung LA40A550 LCD HDTV. I stared and I stared at
it at Western Trinoma comparing to the other Samsung lcds beside it. So, you are the one! But first still need to check the prices over at Shangrila. Wala akong napala sa Shangrila. I went na lang to SM Megamall and
check their lcds on display.
stores. There I was floating like a butterfly, palipat lipat sa mga different brands ng lcds. I completely bypassed the Pioneer Kuros, knowing na its way beyond my league. And then there it was, I found myself
gazing at the Panasonics, I checked their tags. Uhhh, these are plasmas??? I was there completely transfixed, staring now intently at these two plasmas side by side, 42pv70h at saka 42pv80h.
material. Huuwowww, ang ganda ganda nya, I almost creamed in my pants!! Kahapon ko lang dinesplay
yan, he was referring to the 42pv80h. P80k cash. Pasok pa sa budget. Dilemma, dilemma. Went home,
google google, found out that 42pv70h are best selling budget plasmas. 42pv80h are newer versions.
ngayon, found out na me 32" din pala na plasmas???? At ang best seller ay LG, and these I have to see.
Dapat 37 in pataas,
And so my quest is still on.

Ano nga pala, @iiinaslao, thank you for your post, ganda home theatre mo ah, dami ko pang kakainin.
Pero from your post(ht setup), I finally decided on my dvd upscaler Pio DV600.

i just saw this thread now, didnt know listening group have one.

I have known Oliver Pe for about 10 years now and I can say all my experiences with him are very pleasant, Since I work near megamall and before near glorietta, naging tambayan ko na yungListening Room and Listen Up and most of the time kakwentuhan ko si Olive. I even getto ride with him some times from the store and hatid sa sakayan pauwi sa bulacan.

whats important is the huge discount i normally get. I recalled a fellow pdvd member was huunting for an Onkyo 1007, the lowest quoted was 78K, when I called Olive, he is willing to give it to me at 72K. The old receiver i got before was being sold at 32K in several shops but I got it at 25K from him. Im sure though that it depends on the items and not all the time i will get a huge discount.

As for Minnie, well she is really very nice eversince. and so is Toby, the tall guy from Listen Up that was transferred to Listening Room.
