Title: Best Bang For The Buck TV Under 35k
Post by: leomarley on Nov 02, 2014 at 03:13 PM
after 6 long years of using a 32" TV, i'm planning to buy at least a 42" one. can you recommend the best bang for the buck TV under P35,000? i will mainly use it as a secondary output for my gaming desktop for watching movies and TV shows. no cable TV. will also use it in gaming as well.

if anyone does suggest something, can you please also include why you recommend it? thanks!

how about yung replacement parts? how long will they be producing/stocking parts for their plasma TVs if in case may kailangan palitan after, say, 2 years?

I have read in one of the tech sites that it is common practice for companies to support models within the warranty period with parts.

a few more days to Christmas and prices will still go down....
as always check the after sales warranty...IMHO, this most important...

Yes pero paano kung out of warranty na? Yun nga kung after warranty nasira TV mo. May parts kaya sila na available pag nagparepair ka sa kanila?

Is Obsolescence Really So Bad?

People who love plasmas–and they definitely exist–love them because they have great color contrast, a clear, sharp picture, and a wider “viewing angle” than LCD models, meaning you can sit further to the side of the screen without seeing a distorted image. However, they’re also massive energy hogs, and aren’t as thin or bright as other technologies.

The reason so many companies are dropping plasma has little to do with the technology itself. Rather, as LCD models have gotten better and cheaper to produce, it’s become less logical for manufactures to build and maintain factories capable of building only large, pricey plasmas.

Still, if you’re buying a technology that you know is headed for extinction, it’s worth considering what will happen if you need to get a new part for your plasma or have it repaired. Consumer Reports argues that TVs from the top brands are reliable and will continue to support their products. A Samsung rep echoed this, saying the company “will continue to provide support for our plasma TVs and our customer service policy will remain the same as before.” That said, it’s difficult to predict what repair options you’ll actually have.

there's no telling really, but I figured, isn't it the same thing with LCD/LED TVs, when a certain model becomes phased out, the internal components are changed in the new models?

consumer electronics items are not designed to outlive the buyers...
it does not make any business sense...
the electronics industry is a very dynamic industry, and semi-con houses
comes up with new devices almost every day....
manufacturing comes out with new methods and processes aimed at
one thing only, to sell and sell better than the competition....
technologies come and go...it is the nature of the beast... ;)

my 32 inch Pana Vierra still runs to this day.., 32 to 42 is still a small step imho..looking for a chance to buy a 52 incher one of these days... ;D

yep kaso sa case kasi ng Plasma eh discontinued na ang tech. ang LCD/LED tuloy-tuloy pa rin. gusto ko pa naman sana ng plasma kaso nag-aalangan ako pag after 2 years biglang magkaproblema.

@Tony

yung akin ok pa rin yung 32" ko na Pana Vierra. mag-6 years na siya this coming December kaso gusto ko na talaga ng malaking TV and yes mukhang maliit na step nga ang 42". i was in SM kanina looking at this TCL 48". medyo ok na yung size niya and 120Hz pa kahit kapos sa 51" kaso i'm not sure if TCL is a reliable TV brand. wala rin ako makita masyado na feedback from users online.

my pana vierra is running about the same age.....
TCL has been around for as long as i can remember,
no experience with it, that is why i ask the salesman
about after sales service whenever i look around the malls...

just my two cents. When a company says that they will be obsoleting a product they will support it even after its end of life span. Normally, this is another 5 years from the date they announced its end of production but they will tell you up to what date if you ask them they should. They post this in their website. This is very much enforced from the field where I came from because if they don't do as they told, the company who bought from them will sue them. In most cases they will provide an alternate model or trade-in plus add on cost upon their announcement.

However, in the case of TV like obsoleting of plasma, and the end user is us. Companies will tell that they will support it probably to deplete their stocks. When you unit bugs down, the csr will tell yes they have parts but in two years time I doubt you'll get the same answer when the day that the plasma tv turns defective. So when you consider buying plasma better consider this situation too. Unless, you truly want to get one now then buy it but keep this in mind too ask them up to when will they support in terms of parts and service. thanks

Was supposed to get the 51h5000. Ended up getting a sharp LC-50LE450M instead. May noticeable scratch kasi sa panel and affects the image.

I saw that Toshiba 55" kaso mataas pa benta nila. Binigay naman ako discount from 36k to 33k na lang.

Hi. How much po kuha nyo sa sharp LC-50LE450M? And where did you buy it?
Yung toshiba 55". What's the model no po? Im planning to buy din po kasi 50" or higher with that same bidget. :) thanks for your reply!

It was selling for 37k.

@ Sir leomarley congrats! How's your new sharp LC-50LE450M performance coming from plasma? Tama b ako na previous tv mo is plasma? I'm also eyeing for this as well as the Toshiba 55L2400. Also if I may ask what make you decide to get the sharp against tosh na bigger ng 5 inches then almost same price? Tia! ;D

My personal room TV wasn't a plasma but our family TV is but only a 42" 720p pdp. Nadismaya ako kasi I was looking forward on getting the Samsung plasma but what can I do?

Ok naman yung sharp for the price. 35k w/ wall mounting ain't bad. Main reason for choosing this over tosh Is the price. 31k lang kasi dapat budget ko and napilitan lang to shell out more. Yung Toshiba kasi ang price sa Abensons is more than 40k pa kaya I settled for the sharp 50". So far so good. I'm using it with my desktop for gaming ATM.

Parang passive ata yung 120hz niya. Napansin ko rin kahapon while watching Chef mas smooth yung video compared sa usual but sa iba naman movies hindi.

EDIT:

Checked the manual and 60Hz lang nga siya.
