hi guys!
just wanna make a survey of cd players of pinoydvd members. if you could also state amp, speakers and interconnects used with your cd player and description of the sound produced, it would be a great help. especially on people still deciding on purchasing one. :) :) :)

Sony XE 670 CD/ SACD Player. It's not high end. but its SACD playback quality is even better than 5000 dollar CD players.
Pre Amp = Anthem TLP1
Amplifier= Anthem MCA 20
cables/ inter connects ko is Ultra Link Cables and Interconnects.
Speaker is Energy Veritas 2.2

thanks for reading my review there...this is indeed an excellent CDP...however, if we talk about the consonance or the jolida, it's totally a different audio experience...thanks again! 8)

Tell the truth, there's a difference but I think its still not good enough. The highs really opened up but that's all there is to it. Cost is about P500. I guess sobrang pangit talaga yung ginagamit na analog converter. You can expect dramatic changes if you upgrade the clock. This is really ideal for Marantz players. If you have a Rotel player, change the burr brown opamps to ad825 and everyone I've read who's done it swears by the dramatic improvement.

yah i read all about the rotel tweak, i think its for the 961 or the 971. used to play around with amps in college as a hobby. now, hindi ko na alam kng saan na mga electronic enthusiast mags ko. siguro ill try one of em DIY amps. thanks!

check ko uli maya, pre. didn't notice the hdcd led light up when i played it, but surely, jheena lodwick sounded so sweet and natural parang kumakanta siya sa harap ko. :o. details were so clear and soundstaging was great that i played the whole cd again.

I bought the cd player here in Sydney for about $600 aussie dollars. I was planning on buying it there noong nagbalikbayan ako last year but during those times they had no stock except for the display model in Greenhills and also the warranty would be a problem so I decided to get these one here even though it's more expensive. What's your setup in Manila? Are you into audio or video?

am not from manila bro. am from one of the other islands in pinas, hehehe. am relatively new to this hobby but have always been a music lover. being in pinoydvd pushes me even further but in the right direction which is a good thing. anyway, reviews nman bro on the marantz cd player. have u been able to compare it with other cd players (rotel, nad). havent read any marantz cdp reviews here in pdvd ksi. ;D ;D

The CD-100 I believe is no longer in production...I have here the selling price of USHER...Thier amp would sell at US1,800 to US$3,000....
I just bought mine in Taiwan 3 weeks ago directly from USHER audio. BTW its a CD player exactly the same with Shanling CD-S100 and Music Hall MMF-25. Mine was an export version with 110 or 220 VAC selector switch.

You're joking right? :) May direct cd na kasi yung LD player ko...di ko lang alam kung nahihiwalay ang video circuit. Can't tell the difference with direct cd on/off.

partly joking but mostly serious bro. just take this as an example: if your player sounded manipis or do not live up to yor expectation youll end up experimenting, buying things that would possible enhance or improve the sound of your system..... ultimately youll end up spending a whole lot more than getting a cdp (youll be saving a lot more if youll get yourself surplus cdps).
personally, before i had myself a dedicated cdp player, i was using philips 626k dvd player. i didnt quite like the sound so i end up finding ways solving it without buyind a new dedicated player (as i believe back then it is uneccessary and a repititive acquisition) wanted to buy an x10d external dac (as it thought this would solve the problem for me), end up getting a tono pre-amp......... iniatially i thought i had it...... still i end up getting a dedicated cdp.

Hehe gets ko na bro. Madugo nga mag-external DAC...canvassed a couple and it's way beyond a good cdp. Btw, took Punk_kid and your advice...finally splurged on a NAD c542 ;D...laki ng difference sa LD player ko. Money well spent hehe.

mas maganda nga yan sa tube amp eh. i've tried that using SS and tube amp and all i can say is that the NAD C542 excels more if you pair it with tube amps. :o

Uy! Thanks audioslave. Actually dalawa kami ng ka-officemate ko na kumuha last week. At bago ko makalimutan, maraming salamat sa inyo. Honestly, you're reviews/comments here made me check this unit out. Plus, a friend (also a NAD cd player owner) advised me that the DAC of NAD is very good.
This is my first dedicated CD player. Before this, i'm using my Pioneer 676a dvd player which is barely 1-month old (it retired my 4-yr old Philips dvd player). When I jumped from Philips 732k to Pioneer 676a, nagandahan na ko sa audio but with NAD, forget it. Out of the box, you can already hear the diffference (read as improvement). Nag-blind test pa nga kami ni esmi, NAD yung nagustuhan niya (although hindi niya nagustuhan yung presyo ;D)

Just got from a collegue an old Meridian 200T transport and Monarchy 22B DAC. The DAC sounds good but was not impress with the Meridian. I just recently upgraded the caps, diodes and installed a DIY clock (see my other thread) on both of them and now I could say that I'm now very happy with the combo.

Abybody tried Yamaha DVD-S550? It has capability of CD output Upsampling (Approx. 176khz) for the Analog output. I'm thingking it might be a good CD player too.

that a darn good CD player you've got!...for keeps na yan...that is similar (even the DAC and transport) to the MF elektra 624 altough the latter is in black glossy piano finish...with an excellent tube buffer, your CDP will go places!!...CONGRATS!
