Title: Is it safe to buy a display unit?
Post by: zechs on Dec 22, 2014 at 01:28 AM
As the title implies, is it safe?

Been to a couple of appliances stores and found some items that were heavily discounted (up to 50% off). When asked why that is, they told me that it was a display unit.  So is it safe then to buy these kind of units considering they are of course still covered by the standard 2 years manufacturer's warranty.

Help me out please!!

kanya kanya yan... for me..
heavily used yan.. siguro 12 hours a day... pero if 50% off from the lowest price you can get... and 2 years warranty.. why not?
electronics.. sometimes.. 1 week sira na... minsan naman sobrang luma na.. ayaw pa masira.. we can not really know when masisira.. kaya i would take the risk.. although.. higher chance na masira agad.. mag fade agad.. mabilis naman sila magpalit ng models... so siguro atmost naman 3 months lang yan sa store...

make sure lang.. hindi 50% kunwari..
baka kasi srp 100k tapos... 50% off 50k..
pero yung bnew boxed... less 40% din pala.. 60k.. hehe

for me i'd rather wait and get a discounted outgoing model that is brand new rather than getting a display unit that has its price slashed off.

not worth the headache

daig mo pa siguro bumili ng used kung display unit bibilhin mo
average 8-12 hours bukas yan per day as compared sa home use siguro nasa 6hours per day lang

Simple answer IMO, no.

Even with the full coverage of a warranty, hassle pa rin pag masiraan. My TV has 2 modes, "Store Display" and "Home". In "Store Display" mode, full brightness, all energy saving modes are off. In other word, the TV is running at full tilt. Napakainit ng screen and the back panel. This must have some negative effect on the unit, especially when it's in this mode the whole time during store hours (10-12 hours a day on average).

Tama kayo guys. Napansin ko nga yung display unit dun sa isang store, sobrang init sa sides. Will buy a new one na lang albeit a lower variant.

Mods: you can close this thread na. Thanks!!
