Title: BAGETS
Post by: llanesmark777 on Feb 12, 2004 at 06:23 PM: Dir. Maryo J. Delos Reyes, was invited as a guest speaker 2 years ago. He told me that, He's planning to make a new Bagets movie (Bagets Reunion). But he is affraid to do it. Its a gamble. " Di ko alam kung makukuha ko pa yung magic ng Bagets". The stars who are eager to do the film was William Martinez, Francis Magalona only. There having a hard time to convince Aga Muhlach because it's worth a million bucks. ;)

A retrospective interview, up to date together with the female leads...Eula Valdez, Yayo Aguila, Jobelle Salvador and the other cast.

I dunno if this will be as good as the first ones. And I don't think the title `Bagets' will be suitable for them at this stage in their lives (it's more of a euphemism, actually). Good think they junked it.

Si Aga nandun (shempre, show niya yun eh), si William Martinez at yung misis niyang si Yayo Agila, si Herbert Bautista at si Ramon Christopher (who was in "Bagets 2" and I don't really consider him to be part of the core 'Bagets' group), at si Eula Valdez. Si Raymond Lauchengco at JC Bonnin hindi nakadalo.
Saan ko kaya mapapanood ito? Meron kaya nito sa internet somewhere?? May naka-tape ba?

And the music became part of our lives also during the 80's. ;D 8)

"Bagets" besids being a fun movie, is also an important part of Philippine history in that it reflected the way of life for filipino youth at a certain period of time, namely, the 1980s.

Post by: keating on Nov 06, 2005 at 07:10 PM: Just saw the dvd a while ago. The transfer is excellent and the print is still in mint condition. Menus are great also plus the retrospective docu was a blast from the past! The downside is, music was too loud during the interviews of the cast minus JC Bonnin.

This is a landmark film that demands to be seen again 20 years later. Maryo J is the John Hughes of Philippine Cinema. He captured vividly the angst, music and pop culture of my generation. Boss Vic's gain was Mother Lily and Ishmael Bernal's loss.

The movie was shot at JASMS in Q.C. and the cast used to hang out and bonded at the residence of the late Ishmael Bernal.

Well, rumors in the past has it that the reason why Aga was out of Bagets 2 is that he was asking a large amount since siya daw ang nagdala ng movie (honestly...i beliv he was the major factor why those girlies watched the film holding their cameras when Aga appears onscreen).

Cast lang ng Bagets1 ang may mga interviews last Saturday. Next Saturday siguro ipalabas yung interviews nila Francis, Ramon Christopher and other cast of Bagets2. Complete ang cast ng Bagets1 with separate interviews from Aga, Herbert, Eula, William & Yayo, Raymond & Jobelle, and phone interview kay JC Bonnin from London. Lahat sila naka black dress during the interview so mukhang yun ang theme. May mga portions ng show na inulit lang ni Aga at Herbert ang sinabi nila from their "Bagets Flashback" interview from Bagets DVD, like yung story na pinaghubad ng pants si Aga ni direk Mario J for the pool scene.

Dinaanan din ups and downs ng showbiz careers and personal lives ng cast. Aga from being a teenage father to becoming one of the bankable actors, William and Francis on their drug related problems, Herbert becoming a politician, JC on being a priest, Raymond doing a comeback on music scene.

During the interview of Jobelle and Raymond, muntikan nang mapa-iyak si Jobelle nang tinanong ni Ricky Lo kung ok na sila ni Robin Padilla. Halatang bitter pa rin si Jobelle sa naging relationship nila ni Robin. Pero nag-isip ako dun sa sinabi ni Ricky Lo na may "dark side" or "dark secret" daw si Raymond at alam daw ito ng ibang cast. Ayaw sabihin ni Jobelle kung ano yun...hmm. Ano nga ba yun?

I mean, Aga gets enough mainstream media coverage as it is. It would've been better to hear less about him and more about everyone else, since they're the ones we haven't heard anything about in a while.
