Forget 4k tv's, jump straight to 8k super hi vision led tv's. Sharp and LG already have their prototypes. In the next year other manufacturers will follow. And might be the standard when the 2020 tokyo olympics is broadcast.

With screens now reaching up to 120" you really need 8k resolutions. No more need for projectors ;D
-
Langya di pa ko nagmigrate sa 4K meron na agad 8K. Baka naman saglit lang din yung 8K or is it future-proof na?
-
Yun nga ang maganda eh, we can skip 4k altogether. Jump straight to 8k led tvs.
Theres no such thing as futureproof. Society will always evolve and so will technology. But you can always use it in the future but with less features.
-
Grabe 8k na agad...
Nag iisip p ng sa 4k.. Gano kaya kalaki ang file nyan
-
That is if you can afford it. Yung 4k nga mataas pa lalo pa yung 8k?
-
8K? Mahilig pala sa low-end ang lolo mo. :D
Wala yan sa lolo ko:
Neither 4K or even 8K hold a candle to the 11K resolution Samsung is working on
by Stephen on July 13, 2015
If you thought that 4K resolution was the most awesome thing you’ve seen or heard of in digital displays and were simply awed by the potential that 8K might have down the road, then Samsung’s new 11K project is going to blow your mind.
...In addition to the sheer pixel density and image smoothness an 11K display technology like this implies, Samsung also claims that the amount of pixels creates a 3D-like effect on two dimensional surfaces, thus possibly eliminating the need for the 3D glasses that millions of people still find silly.

Di kaya bumagsak presyo ng 4K if 8K ang magiging new standard? Pag nagkataon di na muna ko mag 8K.
-
grabe labanan, dapat antay muna what sony will do. Baka maglabas sony ng 200k tv na xray resolution na.
-
Hmm, ilan GB kaya ang file size ng native 11K movie without compression?
-
The biggest movie exhibitor in the Philippines is SM. Almost all of their digital projectors are Sony 2K digital projectors.
AFAIK, SM's IMAX uses dual 2K Christie projectors; and the latest SM cinemas (BF Paranaque) use a Christie 4K digital projector.
If almost all digital projectors in real cinemas here use 2k, and moviegoers are not complaining, why the need for 8K for such a small screen in the home?
Marketing lang yan.

mga 2 movies lang laman ng 1tb mo ;D

nung bata ako happy na ko sa sony trinitron namin and didnt complain but when the new flat crt arrived
mas gusto ko yun. Then flat panels arrived mas gusto ko pa yun. So pag dumating na 8K technology and it becomes affordable like flat screens today bibili din ako nun.
Its not the need but the want :)
I cant wait for cinema screens to be as clear as your 4k TV at home. ;D
-
Murang-mura lang pala e... 8K lang? ;D
-
Its not the need but the want :)
Ang pinakamahirap paglabanan,..! ^-^
-
Murang-mura lang pala e... 8K lang? ;D
Baka yung 8K brod ay 11K naman pala...naka-sale lang .... naloko na..
-
Haha sa 4k nalang ako. Mas mura 4k lang... Ahaha
-
I'll buy 4k pag madami na lumabas na 8k ... bagsak na sigurado presyo noon :)
I like to be an early adapter in case of IT technology - new OS, new processor, etc. ... but when it comes to AV appliances I find it more practical to buy products when it becomes mainstream - e.g yung first released na curve OLED ng LG was less than 100k in price dito sa atin in less than a year ... you usually get more features and improved quality for less pag mainstream na ... you just lose the bragging rights :)
-
Kokonti pa nga ang 4K na source, may 8K na agad... 1080p muna ako for at least 3 to 5 years pa siguro, hehe di ko rin kasi trip ang 4K, parang teleserye ang galaw ng tao :-P

For sale na mga first batch ng 8k TV's (4x the resolution of 4k tv)! Maka-order nga sa sharp ;D
"The new TVs will be offered first to broadcasters and video production companies and go on sale on Oct. 30. Sharp didn’t announce a price, but the Nikkei newspaper says the 85-inch monitor will cost around ¥15 million ($125,000)."

FAKE 8K TV from Sharp. 4k Panel lang yan.
Fine Print sa Sharp brochure: This is product does NOT use an 8k panel. It CANNOT play 8k video from an external input source.
The sales guy said 8k Ready lang daw.

True. It upscales video internally then groups subpixels together to have an "8K effect."
-
Sana nga maglabasan na yung mga 8k TVs. Para bumagsak na presyo nung OLED na LG. Ok na muna ako dun!!!

Available in the Philippines right now are two 8K models from Sharp:
https://sharp.ph/product-list/lc-70xu830x/
The above is a 70" panel for about ₱260k
https://sharp.ph/product-list/lc-80xu930x-2/
This one is an 80" panel for about ₱375k.
Both have Android TV onboard so you can then use your 100Mbps connection to go to YouTube and sample the only 8K content that I know of on the WWW. ;D

LG and Samsung just announced their 8k lineups at the IFA Electronics Show in Berlin.
https://www.cnet.com/news/hello-8k-displays-tvs-next-must-have-feature-isnt-really-a-must-have-samsung-lg-ifa/
"Samsung on Thursday showed off the Q900, which packs in more than 33 million pixels. The 85-inch TV will be the first 8K TV to hit the US market when it goes on sale in October, although Samsung didn't specify the price. Its arch rival LG a day earlier announced what it called "the world's first" 8K OLED TV. It showed the 88-inch device to some reporters in January at CES but didn't specify when there would be an actual product for consumers. Meanwhile Sharp began shipping the LV-70X500E 70-inch 8K monitor earlier this year to Europe after launching it in late 2017 in China, Japan and Taiwan."

hopefully ma-release na sa market mainstream para bumagsak na yung price ng 4k na OLED :)

That 85 would look even sharper than a full hd 32.
Sana manalo ng mega lotto.

KUNG si SHARP din lang ang gagawa huwag na. In four years time or even prematurely earlier, deteriorated na ang LCD panel niyan....

dami na nyan dito sa china

Sabi dito:
Here’s the thing, though. While it is true that the 85Q900R’s native 8K pictures look an order of magnitude better than its upscaled 4K ones, those upscaled 4K pictures can in turn look better - than they look on native 4K TVs.
I call utter BS on this claim unless I see it with my own eyes. From experience, even the best 4k upscaler cannot do better than native Full HD sets using 1080p source. Mas maganda pa din tingnan ang 1080p movies sa Full HD tvs compared to 4k tvs upscaling the 1080p source so I really doubt this claim na mas maganda pa daw tingnan 4k upscaled on the 8k tv compared to an actual 4k tv.
Also, re: 8k, unless I'm getting a 100" tv and I will sit really close to it, there's no point to more pixels anymore. And I can only imagine the storage for 8k media. I have only around 100 4k movies stored on my HDD and it takes up around 3TB of space. So one would probably need at least 6tb of HDD space for 100 8k movie files.
I think the HDD tech needs to really speed up it's development. We will soon need 20TB HDDs for storage of larger files.
-
^meron na ata naglabas ng 100tb HDD.
Paano kaya streaming of 8k movies online? Baka kahit naka 100mbps ka puro lag/hiccups pa din.
-

Haha im down for 100tb hdds pag naging affordable. In the future tatawanan na lang natin yung GB na file size. Parang nung dati na anlaki na ng 64mb memory card for phones. Lol!
Re: streaming
Kaya na yan ng 50mbps. Compressed naman pag streaming eh. Hehe
Pero pag 1:1 quality to 8k blu ray, yan ang mahirap kasi malaki bitrate nun sobra, I'm assuming.

Kakaupgrade ko lang sa 4k a couple of days ago......To be honest, I cannot distinguish yung difference between 1080p and 4K...maybe malabo na mata ko or hindi pa ganun kalaki yung TV ko(43 inches) para mag matter yung 4k.......
-
You should notice a difference in colors. Mas matingkad/saturated yung colors ng 4k. You will definitely notice the difference na pag between 8k and 1080p

yep, the screen plays a role as well. In my opinion, 1080p to 4k will really matter in tvs starting at 65". Maybe 55" din but for me, 65" is the baseline dapat for 4k.
Even at 65" pag medjo malayo ka, it's hard to tell between 1080p and 4k. Mapapansin mo lang siguro pag HDR na. Yun may difference talaga sa kulay.
I tried Guardian's of the Galaxy 2 1080p vs 4k. Slightly sharper and slightly more color variations lang difference na nakita ko when I really looked closely. Pero normal viewing distance, the difference was negligible. I'm no expert and I'm just basing this off from personal experience ha. hehe
-
according to them, ito daw ang optimal viewing distance
the higher the res the closer you must be ::)

2 feet @ 8K resolution ???

Siguro magandang comparison is side by side watching of 1080p material displayed on 1080p TV vs 4K Marerial displayed on 4K TV
Just a thought...
-
some reports
The short answer is that a 4K TV could improve the picture a bit in the best cases -- but don't expect miracles. Most 4K TVs use a process called upconverting (or upscaling) to convert incoming sources to fit their 4K screens. Done right, it can add to the perceived detail of the image, but you'll have to look pretty hard, and sit pretty close, to see the difference.
-
grabe kung maging commercialized na 8K TV... i hope there will also be a new video codec and perhaps be around 16Bit - 24Bit. with the current H265 10-12Bit on existing Blurays sizing upto 100GB, for 8K there needs to be a 3-disc release then... at baka ibalik nila 3-disc or 5-disc changer sa blurayr player niyan LoL! unless bluray becomes 400GB capacity na
with comparison on 1080p vs 4K materials (esp HDR), it's not only the brightness, color vibrancy but the textures and details are so much improved. yung napapanuod mo na 1080p na di mapapansin, ma-appreciate niyo sa 4K HDR at mapapansin mo talaga na meron pala nun sa subject, scene or background or i.e. freckles, laugh lines, details ng damit akala mo plain white cotton yun para fur siya -- or something like those just to name a few =))
so how much more with 8K!

Sharp 8K TV @ 70" size.

this is kind of true. The farther you are, the less you'll appreciate the benefits of 4k.
Also, there was one study that I saw which showed that the human eyes will not be able to perceive the difference between 2k and 4k unless you truly zoom in on the pixels.
8k at 100" baka ilang feet away ka lang para sulit yung 8k effect. Haha

8K Blu-ray would probably come out by 2026 so I think that's the ideal time to buy a 8K TV.
Why 2026? Based on previous product cycles it takes about 1 decade before new media format is standardized.
Optical media timeline
* 2016 - Xbox One S with 4K Blu-ray (really wish PS4 Pro had it instead)
* 2016 - 4K Blu-ray
* 2007 - Playstation 3 with Blu-ray
* 2006 - Blu-ray
* 2004 - HDMI
* 2001 - Playstation 2 with DVD
* 1997 - DVD
I included video consoles as they help accelerate the adoption of a new media format as they tend to be cheaper than dedicated players at the time of introduction.
Now is the perfect time to buy a 4K TV whether it is OLED, QLED or LED.
