Is there an NMT with wireless capability that can stream movies wirelessly from a NAS without lag or stuttering?

Nasa wireless connection ata ang lag and stuttering, wala sa NMT.

Combination of NAS, your phone, then Chromecast. Kaso may lag parin coming from various factors.
My experience so far mga average 3 times nangyayari.

Please check popcorn hour and Roku. You can use Plex Media Server and you can stream through your mobile devices, TV and tablets wirelessly. Plex is available on Samsung & LG Smart TV. You can adjust the resolution of the movie to "counter" the lag or stuttering.

Plex is like DLNA in that it has a very limited range of formats that it supports. I think it supports only MP4. It can stream wirelessly because it effectively resamples or transcodes your video to a lower resolution depending on certain conditions. If you like watching hi-res mkv files then it is not a good solution.720p mkvs is still good on 802.11n but 1080p can suffer lags and stuttering.
If you have a router that supports 802.11ac maybe you can try some of the new media boxes that supports 802.11ac.

The Roku stick can ably stream wirelessly 1080 mkv files from a NAS. It costs a mere 50 dollars.

Seems complicated, has anyone tried with any local nmt like himedia, minix, etc? If you have, was it smooth or laggy?

At last, I was able to stream movies wireless from my NAS to NMT. I bought an AC router and a new NMT (Minix U1). So far streaming is flawless, stutters only when you fast forward or rewind, stuttering is very minimal thou. Id say Im satisfied and happy with my current setup. By the way, the movie files are MKV with file size of 10 - 15gb. connection I believe is through 5ghz wireless AC

Old Setup: Buffalo Cloudstation to WDTV Live via Buffalo N300 router.
Current Setup: Buffalo Cloudstation and/or WD MyBook Live to Nexus Player via TP Link Archer C7 AC1750

Is there an NMT with wireless capability that can stream movies wirelessly from a NAS without lag or stuttering?
Or maybe get a NAS that transcodes directly to wireless and DLNA devices, eliminating the need for a separate NMT.

I was able to stream full hd movies to my HTPC with Kodi installed.
Router: TPlink AC 1900 w/ USB 3.0
HDD: 3TB attached to the USB 3.0 port of router
Media player: HTPC w/ Kodi w/ TPlink AC 1200 Wifi USB adapter
I stream in Kodi using Upnp.

I think that's good enough. Just make sure that you are also using an AC adapter with your player.

The nearer you are to the wifi source the better. You can stream HD content even with Wireless N as long as you are in the same room as your router. Use a wifi extender if you are far from your source.

If you connect thru a wireless extender you'll be effectively cutting in half the effective data rate of your wireless connection. It's a big no no for HD streaming.

Harddrive is inside the nmt then stream it to tablet? Or theres a pc involve that holds the hdd then strem it to tablet without connecting to switch or router?

Pwedeng internal or external hard drive in NMT then stream to tablet without router. Seems like a weird idea.
Update: I think the best thing to stream movies to multiple portable devices is still a router with a USB port. An NMT is just a receiver of streamed data.

WD has already discontinued its line of routers. Based on personal experience wifi range performance of the WD routers are not very good. I think it's because they use internal antennas only. If you want a router with good range and hdd share capability might as well try ASUS' range starting from RT-AC66U and up.
