Title: Everything about KODI
Post by: Onkyo606 on Sep 20, 2016 at 02:29 AM
is there a thread that discusses things about KODI? If there is none i hope its ok to start one as KODI is something alien to me and I really want to be familiar with this.Setting up, tricks, tips, tutorials, issues anything to help better understand KODI. Hoping those in the know would share.

- Sir sa may system settings, check mo yung audio. Dapat i-set sya para kung saan i-output yung sound. Medyo may difference sya pag gumamit ka ng ibang skin. Hth.

There are times when i play a movie bumabalik sa homepage nung player.
- Ito ang hinde ko pa na-encounter.

Ang daming pwedeng gawin sa Kodi(Former XBMC). You can add  ADD-ONS/Plugin so you can stream TV show, Channels and Movies for free. Meron ding mga ADD-Ons na may bayad specially if you want it in HD.

Ano gamit nyong add-ons?

here's a link to the XBMC (Kodi) thread under HTPC -

I've added a lot of video add-ons and now able to watch a lot of US channels in HD for free, e.g. HGTV channel ... it takes a while to understand and configure those add-ons, need several google sessions to complete ... I'm considering getting this product to simplify the configuration and updates when I travel to US next month, this looks promising, cheap, and the reviews are very good (automates Kodi setup) -

I have two issues with Kodi, specifically, the special KODI version of the Minix Neo U1 (as compared to Popcorn Hour A300):

1) It takes very long--minutes--for my network drive to be accessible in Kodi. My movie files are stored in a Synology DiskStation DS414. I think KODI accesses them via NFS(?), (not familiar with these formats);

2) (Similar problem with TS Onkyo606?),  HD Audio (DTS-HD, Dolby True-HD) doesn't play through the Yamaha soundbar I use in the bedroom. With the PCH A300, these audio formats play with no problem.

Anyone else encounter these? Thanks!

Thanks! In my case, the network files are also accessible, but at startup, it takes a very long time before the files are accessible.

Hmmm, could it be due to: the number of files in the network drive; the size of the files (most are 15GB and up); the way I access them via wifi ac (although once the files are accessible, I can play them even with no problems even if their bitrates are in high 20s and 30mbps)? Or all of the above?

I transferred the Minix Neo U1 to the HT room where I have wired connections to the router and the NAS, and Kodi was able to access the network drive immediately. So my issue must be caused by a combination of (slower than wired) wifi access and the relatively large, I assume, number of files (currently 118,xxx files in 6190 folders) in the NAS.

Some files don't output sound through the receiver though, even with the audio settings in Kodi for DTS, DTS-HD, pass through, etc, have been checked/toggled. Will investigate further.

ah naka Minix ka pala. try mo eto. dun sa settings, meron dun sound > lagay mo sa hindi pass thru tapos balik mo ulet. do it several times until you hear the "click" sound notification when you select the pass thru (kung anu man mode gamit mo) then tsaka mo start kodi.

although hindi minix U1 gamit ko, baka lang it can solve the issue. currently coming from off state (no power, unplugged) and left on pass thru - ayaw tumunog sakin. so before i start kodi, punta muna ko settings and change the sound output to another option then balik sa pass thru until i hear that select sound notification. tapos kodi na. nangyayari ito sakin pag galing sa unplugged state. pero pag naka plug pero off no issues. try mo baka lang maka tulong.

U1 supposedly capable of AC. anu ba NAS gamit mo?

I actually use the XBMC for
Minix instead of the generic Kodi.  I'll check what version I have.

Also I upgraded the Minix firmware and I don't know if that is causing the sound issues I noticed last night. I seem to remember having no issues before when I try it in the HT room.

Have you tried  add video --> moviedb scraper --> enable fan art?

Or you meant movie thumbnails? which is automatic if you have selected moviedb scapper  as your media scrapper

The XBMC for Minix that I have is an older version, version 15.3. But I think I know now the reason for my audio issues. The unit's settings for Digital Audio was reset to PCM (I guess this is the default) and not HDMI when I transferred the Neo U1 from the bedroom to the HT room. Now it seems all audio, including DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD, are ok. Not sure about Atmos per se since I don't have an Atmos setup yet.

In the course of my tinkering, I noticed that at the start of most movies, the video seems choppy but after around 30 seconds, ok na.

Hi DPT,

Thanks for the immediate response, add video --> moviedb scraper --> enable fan art was the step I followed and it generated the thumbnails and added the Movies under the home screen. My inquiry is when I added new videos to my external drive no thumbnails was added to the movies under the home screen. Any other suggestions on how to show the thumbnails automatically whenever I add new movies to my external drive?

You need to update library. Either go to to settings -- video -- library. Manually then set it auto on every launch of kodi. Or you can press left or right d pad which ever the case maybe when you are inside the movie  tab and do a manual update there

Manually search it. Right click the movie in the movie tabs. Movie information click then select refresh.

Foreign movies that are retitled in English and no one updated the movie database to point the the original title is usually the reason for it.

I have a few files that behave like that. Sometines removing, clean lib then adding it fixes.

But i have some files that still behave the same as yours. But i just let it go since it is like less than 1 % that is affected.

My guess is it has to do with the metadata inside the media file that confuses kodi.

My guess it is a custom version by xiamoi.

But it is not difficult to add  pictures and tv.  Kodi is customizable and extendable to begin with. The exact steps I do not know.

My guess it is a custom version by xiamoi.

But it is not difficult to add  pictures and tv.  Kodi is customizable and extendable to begin with. The exact steps I do not know.

Did you try downloading or installing SPMC?

Sir, try to download a vpn from the google play site. Gamit ko is either Opera vpn or Cloud vpn. Pili ka lang ng location then connect before you open kodi/spmc//xbmc.

Yan din experience ko before. Laging error when I try to play the shows sa WNBC, WABC and WCBS. With the vpn connected, I can play most shows. The problem I'm trying to solve now is yung buffering which happens frequently while watching. Nakaka bad trip kasi lalo na kung intense na yung scene. This happens even if over 10 mbps ang speed ko.

I use the Minix U1 and a Kata box.

hi all!

I just recently acquired an Android TV.  Absent is the KODI/XBMC app -- I think I would need to install it myself.

I hope this is the answer with my long time plan for having a 4K TV and an Android media player in-one.  That is, to own a new TV with the following features without having to buy an external Android media player:

- 4K
- HDR
- x264/x265
- HD Audio pass-thru to my ATMOS/DTS:X AVR

I know a lot of new 4K TVs can already do the 1st 3 mentioned.  But how about the "- HD Audio pass-thru"?  Now I'll need to find the time to see if I would succeed with this part.  Else, oh well, there's the Wetek Hub, HiMedia, Shield available, to name a few LOLz!

This thread about KODI would be one good reference point for me and a lot of people out there!

Thanks all and keep it coming, PDVD peeps!  Will share as well, if I have further inputs to impart.

He mentioned it was 10 mbps, which I think is not enough for flawless streaming with no buffering. That is why I mentioned my speed in the first place.

sir have you tried to clear the cache in Kodi? The easiest way to clear the cache in KODI is with the Maintenance Tool program add-on. You’ll first have to install it, and then you can clear the cache easily and in a matter of seconds.
you can do it by following these steps:
- Select “Programs.”

- Select “Addon Installer.”
- select “Program Add-ons” in the list.

- Choose the Maintenance Tool on the next screen by scrolling to locate, select, and install it.

- A pop-up box will appear. The pop-up box asks for your confirmation to install the Maintenance Tool. Click on the “Install” button.

- A success box will show on your screen when it’s completed, and then you will select“OK.”

This completes the process of adding the Maintenance Tool program to your KODI Media Center.
Now, head back to the KODI home screen.
- Select on “Programs.”

- Select the Maintenance Tool to launch it.

- A pop-up box will appear to tell you that it’s intended for advanced users; click “Continue.” (You’re just clearing the cache. No risk, no worries.)
Another box will pop up displaying community news updates; click “OK” to dismiss it.
- Select “General Maintenance” to proceed.

- On the next screen, select “Clear cache.”

- Once the cache is cleared, another pop-up box will appear on the screen, letting you know that the cache has cleared and the process is completed. Click “OK.”

You’ve now cleared the cache in KODI!

clearing cache for KODI may also be done on the Android platform level, right?

Go to Settings then Apps then choose Kodi among the Downloaded Apps section.  Then choose Clear Cache.  With this, you'd really know the size of cache appears as 0.00KB is displayed after clearing.

Not sure though when you clear the Data if it will erase your tweaks/configurations and downloaded movie infos/synopsis...

this is one good way to free up your internal storage =))

it has something to do with the source ... remember that these are not legal streaming sites ... some sites works well in HD quality without any buffering, and I'm just using 8Mbps DSL ... other sites where I experience buffering still does even at a higher bandwidth - I tried using my iPhone connected to Globe as a hotspot, it's getting more than 50Mbps bandwidth from my room, but no improvement

KODI app is interesting.  Isn't this the No. 1 Andoid movie player/streaming app, yet?

for now, I have no plans with movie/tv series streaming. so physically downloaded movies/concerts/music videos/tv series in HD/4K ang test materials ko (note: I collect for personal use only and doesn't distribute nor profit from them LOLz!).  and aside from the best PQ material, I'm also after the best audio quality available.

currently, I have a Sony Android TV and installed the latest available KODI on it.  initially, I used ES Explorer and MX Player.  Since KODI, I realized I won't be needing anything else, so I uninstalled both ES and MX apps.

so now with KODI:
- it can play every movie container without a glitch (MKV, TS, M2TS, MTS, MP4, AVI)
   -- all resolutions: 720P, 1080P, 2K, 4K - are without any issues i.e. no lags/bufferings, audio-unsync, pixelations nor judders
-- i turned off the TV's motion interpolation "MotionFlow" (I think it's a different feature name for other brands: it's "TruMotion" on LG)

- it can play every video codec without a glitch (H264, HEVC, DIVX, XVID)

- it can play every audio codec available without a glitch (AAC, AC3, DTS) with core 6ch and even 2ch

- how about 8ch (Lossless) encoded audios?
-- with my LG 2.1ch soundbar (which has its own Dolby Digital Plus & DTS decoder):
-- Dolby TrueHD, yes, it can output the audio sync with the video - and KODI could detect it as Dolby TrueHD 7.1ch
-- but I'm only using a fiber optic S/PDIF connection.  so I'm in doubt here why it displays 7.1

-- Dolby ATMOS, same as Dolby TrueHD

-- DTS-HD MA, yes, it can output the audio sync with the video - and KODI could detect it as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1ch
-- I'm using only a fiber optic S/PDIF connection here.  so this should be true -- it processes only the core 6ch audio

-- with my Denon ATMOS/DTS:X capable AVR:
-- I will use a hi-speed HDMI with CEC cable (v1.4a, I think) connected via TV's and AVR's HDMI ARC ports
        -- on Dolby TrueHD
           - results to follow -

        -- on Dolby ATMOS
           - to follow -

        -- on DTS-HD MA
           - to follow -

so I hope KODI can. as my secondary intention is to prove (or fail) that by having only a TV unit connected with an AVR, one could avail both of the latest technologies of video (4K, HEVC, HDR) and audio (ATMOS/DTS:X).

- lastly with subtitles, it can be tweaked to:
-- change font, size, type, color, position

also, please help me recall any other things worth a try -- but only with physical A/V materials where we could get our hands on. TIA!

updates on my KODI testing on Sony Android TV.

I'm not successful so far.  I'm into getting it searched and really find a way how Sony Android + KODI can pass-thru the 8ch audio (ATMOS & DTS-HD MA) to work with my capable HT set-up.  As most Android NMT's saying it can, perhaps its the unit that can really do it.  Then come KODI as the media player -- it's most reliable and easy to use with features available for users to utilize.  it can be highly customized too!

if not for my intention of watching movies better with Lossless audios, KODI I would say is the best for movies (of all types).  for 6ch audios on this Sony + KODI combi, it has saved me from buying a new:
  -  NMT capable of 4K, HDR, x265
  -  HDMI 2.0a cable

if it is android and you are using a Hard drive. It is usually mounted in a directory.

For sd card if I am not mistaken. It is /storage/sd1 or sd2 depends on how many sd card.

If it is a hard drive, I believe it is mounted as /storage/usb1 or whatever the logical name your android system gave it.

Everything is relative to root directory.  If you see root under spmc while adding media. You just go up through the file system

Have you checked if you color chroma settings of your NMT and display matches?

rgb or ycbcr444 settings match ba.?

Wag na rgb kung naka rgb. YCbCr 444 na para mas ma differentiate mo kulay na pinapanood mo.

Whenever you disconnect a Hard drive and reconnect it android assign a new logical name for it.

In short, When you added something before in Kodi it wont be able to find it anymore after you disconnect it and reconnect it again since android gave it a new Logical name  after you reconnected. Kodi still uses the old logical name to find your hard drive.

How android works is if a device like a sdcard or hd is connected. It mount it on a directory. To access the sdcard or HD. You simple browse the directory where android mounted it.

Varies between 10-15 mbps. Minsan pumapalo ng up to 30-40+ mbps.

I downloaded the Kodi add on wizard from google play. I noticed na yung sa Exodus and Zen, a lot less ang incidence ng buffering compared to the addons that I got from the Kodi settings section. I would agree na yung problem is dependent sa source.

How to access a networked drive (WD My Book Live) using Kodi?

How to access a networked drive (WD My Book Live) using Kodi?

if it is Samba, you can just point to it when you are adding videos. The part where you specify where the vidoes are located then click Windows Networking or is it SMB?

If you cannot see your WD MY Book live on the network. My guess is that you  need something to act as  a Samba server. Most router have built in samba support as a server that manages network resources.

@DPT, I can actually access my WD My Book Live thru other apps but not thru KODI, I am not quite familiar with what you mentioned about Samba, I do not see that word in KODI....

If you do not mind, can you specify it for me thru a screen shot, I am noob on this...

If is android TV I am not sure if you can actually move the whole kodi install to a microsd card. If not you can do it by using the adoptive storage feature of Android Marshmallow or Android 6.

I used to run Kodi from a usb stick in Windows  7 before. I cannot remember if i just installed it directly to the usb drive/Microsd or used Portableapps.com software.

I'm thinking of buying one of those budget android TV boxes for streaming via Kodi on a 15 mbps connection.  I noticed that the cheaper octa-core ones cost about 2x as much as the quad core boxes.  I am torn between purchasing 2 quad cores vs just one octa-core.  The question is that is there really a dramatic difference between the two variants right now?  Or is it just about "future-proofing"?

It is usually not a question of cores but it is more like the actual video playback capability of the said Chip.

Amlogic is better supported than Rockchip or AllWinner chips. Rockchip or Allwinner chips boxes sells around a third less than an Amlogic box.

If you really want to get a cheap but worth while box. Get atleast an  S905x or S912x amlogic box. Preferably with 1000Mbps Ethernet and 2GB ram and 16GB rom.

Those things sells around 55$ direct from China.

I can play 3D HSBS & 3D HOU however not a success for 3D Frame packed format, anybody who knows how to set or any player can do that.

S905X and S912 are very close in terms of raw performance. The only difference is that S912 has support for HDR and VP9 codec. So if HDR and VP9 is not important to you then you can go the cheaper route and get the S905X player.

If i were you. Ill get the S912 Box.  Better networking with dual band wifi and 1000mpbs ethernet.

Try to see videos of S905x boxes using Wifi for networking. Hit or miss. Alot of times the  Wifi Network speed  falls below to a  forth of the advertised network speed using wifi.

If you are using it to stream you need to have the flexibility of using 5Ghz band if the 2.4 Ghz is congested and bottlenecks your streaming speeds. Or fall back the Gigabit ethernet.

eto yung ginawa ko before

Make sure hindi naka standard view. but expert or advance.

If you want to be seamless about it. .   Why not just add your videos, then use a movie scrapper?
usually if you have no local art or files with your individual movie directories or folder it will automatically download it sa internet.

Just do not panic if your cover art at movie is not at sync for a few minutes. It will usually show the previous movie cover art if kodi is still downloading the cover arts from the internet.

here is a quick rundown of the process.

http://www.htpcbeginner.com/add-media-sources-to-kodi/

Tapos pag satisfied ka na sa mga cover arts ng lahat ng movies mo do this.

http://arnaudbertrand.io/blog/2014/11/22/how-to-export-import-the-video-media-library-in-kodi/

Just ignore the part where you have to add videos since you already did it.

Kodi uses a single database or file for the movie arts etc etc. So if you want to back it up sa mga individual  movie folders do  the second link.

.I was playing around with adding disks in kodi  and left it scraping   a few drives  (12tb raid, 8x4TB)  in hopes to put the indexes per drive.

Is that how it saves it (like in NMJ) ?

2.How do i delete the duplicate entries:

drives /mnt/sda1 which i the wrongly added as :
/mnt/sda1 labeled Movies BD.ISO
Another
/mnt/sdb label Xrampage.remux

Superbilis mag update at kakaaliw ang  various settings to play around with.

Kodi saves it in a single Sql database file. If you want to save the movie infos to individiual folders on their respective disks. You need to export it and select the option individual directories.

remove the added videos folders by selecting or right clicking the folder then remove source.

To remove the thumbnails from your kodi interface. You need to Clean Library.

i keep noticing everyone is asking if their android NMT's could show the full DB menu.  and mostly saying theirs cannot.

I see there is a customization option with KODI on playing disc files (ISO).  can someone please share the screenshots here on how to do this?  I think (can't recall exactly) it's found in System --> Setting --> Playback

and there are only 3 options (as I recall, may be not the exact words):
 - simplified menu
 - play main movie
 - main menu

I chose mine to set to play the main movie, instead..  please help correct me wherever I got it wrong.  TIA!

I meant some BD.iso files will play simple menu and others with more complex bd menu won't play the menu at all on androids. I would think there are dependencies that are missing.

Playback in kodi, someone shared his NMT  4K and 10-bit encodes reportedly hang and the only way to stop it since the remote is unresponsive is to unplug the power from the media player.

playing it outside kodi does not show the problem. I can't duplicate the problem in Himedia units though. Will borrow another brand NMT  just to check.

Just a heads up sa mga kodi fans isolate using native player if in doubt

Hi Guys Merry Christmas! Kakabili ko lang ng TX3 pro nung Dec 23. Tulong naman, di ma-recognize ng AVR ko DTSHD at TRUEHD using my new media player with KODI app. Pero using my old player which is Xteramer Prodigy nare-recognize nya DTSHD and TRUEHD. Passthrough already enable sa KODI and sa media player mismo. any other configuration needed? thanks.

Try installing SPMC (Kodi)
Working ang HDMi Passthrough even Dolby Atmos

hi sir, test a little bit more.  i meant all your other media files with DTS HD MA and TrueHD.  it may be isolated with one or some of your files.

though you mentioned they're all okay on your Prodigy and if still not working with your newly bought TX3 Pro, the best sir, isoli mo nlang.

we can't be the testers for them especially if they advertised as working pass-thru with 8ch audios -- yet they aren't.

Yung database na update library ni kodi, do you export them ?

What if you change disks, does the library saved to the disk gets restored? Or you have to restore it ?

I already tested several movies and made several configuration but to no avail. I don't know if they will accept this if i will return it. I think the 5G advertisement of this unit also a mistake as the unit can't detect my 5G wifi.

have you also tried with installing SPMC?  best to let them know as early as now so that change of unit may be considered.  otherwise, return it for flaw in their advertisement claims.

Kodi uses a single database file. But you can back them to individual movie folders by exporting them.

Export library and pick separate file. It will save it on individual movie folders.

Kodi automatically  gets  metadata, nfo, thumbs, etc etc in this order. Local info saved in movie folders then movie scrapper if you selected one.

Only way to make the database follow the disk  is to install kodi  as a Portable app.

So I export to individual folders
Plug my disk to the unit
Clear library
Import folder

I don't have to do this sa Egreat but am not complaining, loving the speed and smoothness ng GUI

Are you taking your disk from one kodi box then plug it to another kodi box?

If that is the case. That is correct. The Movie thumbnails, actors  etc etc goes in the individual folders on the disk.  Which  the new kodi box will grab it from to put it in its library/database file.

Clean library does not remove thumbnails/movie info if the movie folder is still present. What it does it removes the thumbnails/movie info if you deleted a movie folder.

So if you are just adding new movies from a disk. You just add it.

But if you deleted a movie folder or removed a disk. You need to clean library

Export per folder

Does the disk have all his movie? or An empty disk that you will copy movies from your NAS?

If it is an empty disk. Just export your library to separate file/individual folder. Then copy those folders to your friends disk.

When  he gets home if he added the disk or a directory where the movie folders are auto update will take care of this.

Kodi as I posted earlier. Searches thumbnails, nfo, actors etc etc in this order;

1. Local info or individual folders
2. Movie scrapper if you have selected it.

So before letting your friend go home. Just check some individual movie directories if they have  thumbnails. arts, nfo, etc etc

kodi usually put a . before a subdirectory in the movie folder.

example.
.actors folder or  sub directory in the movie directory

Did you notice if it has an.nfo  it will assume the folder already has the cover/art and won't fetch from the net and manual update is necessary just to replace the blank cover? Any workaround there?(Ideal is it autoscraps even if may .nfo but no cover)

Also if you have a bdmv folder under a title, seems it will treat the title folder as the movie title, but will tell you it has no video and will recursively find a video and suggest the wrong cover automatically? I would surmise it's due to a bdmv folder that has no video file under it  and without an  .nfo  it will consistently fetch a Russian cover art.  Dunno if I described the problem clearly but saw 3 of my bdmv appearing Russian when they are all marvel movies BdMv folder

Konti Lang naman sa current hdd ko yung bdmv but it will be a pain once I add my BDMV drives sa 8bay Mediasonic dock. Maybe I am missing something

Alot of times, I delete the .nfo especially if I do not like it.  If I am not mistaken.  The movie database service will provide what is missing in the folder.  So far, whenever I delete and .nfo but with the other . folders intact . It does not download anything if it has it already in the local folder just the .nfo.

I might be wrong, but whenever I delete .nfo  and add a movie folder. It just download the files I am missing and keeps the one already there.

It just  makes sense. Whoever running the movie  database service need to conserve a bandwidth. And the addon they programmed might exactly  doing that.

Imagine how much bandwidth they are saving by avoiding duplicate or existing file from being downloaded over and over again by hundred of thousands of Kodi users.

About your BMDV problem. You can try   a manual search for it and manually select the actual correct film when you do right click the movie  thumbnail then movie information --> refresh.  If you do not find the correct movie you have to look for it.

The movie database need some intervention.

It might be bmdv rip folder name might coincides with a previous entry on the movie database by someone from other country that might be a totally another film.

It would be a big mess if you manual search for it  but still it does not show the right movie choice.

Maybe a trick for the bdmv without a folder level file content would benefit putting the .nfo for the same title.  Or might move my bdmv format to ISO, will play around

Tried and worked, had to type up the title manually and ok na for one off bdmv finds .

sa Maramihan titles will try muna  .nfo to guide the scraper first.
The other workaround siguro is to add a zero byte video file to trick the scraper to read the folder name containing the bdmv path

Everybody wants to have a 4k capable media player that plays full bd menus....

But unfortunately, we all know that is not possible as of the moment.

But we know that some play simple menus flawlessly.

Now here is my question, is there a way to convert existing bdmv files into iso files with simple menus so we can still get at least a semblance of the menu when using kodi.

Do we need to buy a software like nero burning rom or is there a freeware that we can do this.

As a fan of extras i find a hard time browsing through the files and would rather have a simple menu if the full bd is not possible.

That is the only reason why i still use my popcorn hour c300 over my zidoo x9...

Thanks

Sharing how I do it.

I use a freeware called theRenamer to rename files. It gets the correct name (movie or episode title) from the net and formatted to how you specify it. Drag and drop siya so very easy to use. You specify sa settings how you want to name standard file.

Freeware lang siya. After I use it, this is how the folders and filename look like.

Use this convention when I'm still using mede8er for scraping and getting information from the net. Works perfectly in himedia and much better pa.

The additional files such as fanart.jpg, xml etc.. are the result of scraping via media player.

Hope this helps.

What's the optimum (not the fastest but sufficient) internet speed to be able to play streaming movies in Kodi without buffering?
Will 20 Mbps fiber wired do?
Pwede na ba between 10 - 16 Mbps na DSL?
How much data is consumed if you're streaming HD content  for say, 2 hours? 1 Gig ba? Need to know para assess ko yung Cap threshold ng data plan.
I'm planning to get DSL or fiber internet in my condo in Annapolis, Greenhills. The building is already serviceable with Globe fiber and Sky DSL. So I'm torn between the 2 networks.

Will appreciate your feedback. Sorry mod if OP ang topic. Cheers  :)

2mbps lang subscription ko sir, depende sa server yung buffering, pag parati nagba-buffer hanap lang ako ng ibang streaming sites  ;D

what I dislike is the default GUI of Kodi 17.. and during movie play, the media info display is different.

as i was advised to change its skin to Confluence, there I got back the look & feel of Kodi 16.1 =))

i'm not a tinker of Kodi, I just use it to play my offline movies from my HDD.  and still find it the same greatest media player app on the planet for me =))

hi KODI/SPMC users...

do you notice a "round" thingie on the middle right side of your screen whenever you're watching movies in KODI/SPMC?  I have no mouse control so I don't know if it can be clicked or for what purpose is it?

how can we suspend this from appearing on our screen?  any section in Settings to turn this off?

this happens with all my Android TV devices: Sony Android TV, WeTek Hub and NVidia Shield.

TIA!

Kodi has a file manager under settings
I want to bring that to the main kodi menu , I saw the menu is customizable but dunno how to associate accustom menu with the kodi file manager(under settings)

My brain is wired to see target (left) and destination (right) , blame it on text based file managers (dos)

Is there a big difference in picture quality if i play my movies from a media player compared to playing movies using a flash drive on to the USB port of my projector?

I usually plug my flash drive to my PJ since it plays movies naman.

I would say it would depend on the video specifications of your projector vs. that of a media player.

Thanks

Minix is setup as 4k 60fps. My 4k is NOT HDR.

In kodi, greyed out yung setting na video resolution to change to 720 or 1080 or 4k. It's greyed out to 1080p. Before sa old version, I can change it so I'm sure when I play a 4k content, 4k Siya. Now I'm not sure.

Just want to how why is it greyed out.

i think the 17.3 disabled the force 4k option (baka nagkaroon ng issues with forcing 4k display on their menu to non 4k supported display), pero from my experience, once you play a 4k source, the player will automatically play it as 4k.  to confirm this, use the "info" screen on your tv kung its displaying 4k or 1080 while youre playing your source.

ang issue ko naman with kodi is the audio passthrough..  iffy sya with atmos.. .. so i was forced to use SPMC instead. it uses the older kodi version, but more stable sa audio passthrough.

Pupwede bang itransfer ko yung modifications sa local library ko to my new Kodi sa new box ko? Not sure kasi kung ito ba yung "export library" eh. Thanks in advance.

Quick question

I have 4k demo file stored in a portable hd. When I plug it directly to a 4k tv, it works perfectly fine. When I plug it on my media player minix and play it through movie player, same plays it just fine. 4k resolution and all. But when I play the file using kodi, it shutters and has some buffering problem. And then it just freezes. Anyone experience this?

Another question. I stream movies and TV shows from exodus. It works. But for some streaming app like SUPREMACY, video plays well but no sound.

My guess is that Kodi isn't using the VPU/GPU of your media player / android box. I think one way to test this is to use SPMC. If it works without problems, then that's it.

switch kodi menu from standard to expert, loads of settings there that might help you tell kodi what to turn on or off wrto your graphics option.

did you try changing 4k files? baka kasi may certain decoding if needs and if a mere change of file fixes it , you can start being picky with your files meantime until kodi fixes their end (or the hassle of going “home - native mplayer” muna

i have it working on an iphone and ipad no issues naman. just make sure both kodi and iphone are connected on the same lan.

on kodi 17, go to service settings, control, enable all options there

then on your iphone, click the add host then find kodi, if it doesn't find it automatically then just manually add it.

alam ko sir dapat my name talaga na dolby atmos.
anong exact model ba ang gamit mong receiver?

Finally sir nagawa ko na. Nasa tv screen pala yung sound format ng soundbar/ receiver. Sony ht-z9f sir.

Unfortunately walang overhead sounds hehe, wala kasi upfiring speakers. DSP lang daw, Vertical Surround Engine. Might add the rears na lang siguro baka maimprove yung atmos kahot walang overhead sounds. Hehe.

Salamat sa tulong mga sir

Do not update to version 19. A lot of add ons will not be compatible especially The Crew.

Found out the hard way. Had to uninstall then reinstall version 18.9 and load back The Crew.

Hassle ito dun sa madaming add ons as you will need to load everything back manually.

It still updates automatically even after setting it to never update.

Hassle pag uninstall then reinstall old version then setup ulit.

Strange, because I don't encounter this problem.  The update available notification is always there.

Seren / The Oath
Trakt
a4kSubtitles
Try ka rin ibang addons na swak sa panlasa mo.

Anyone using KODI to view movies from GDrive?  The past months, I have been unable to view.  The movie loads but no video.  Same result on Firestick and Shield. Is this a Koid issue or an ISP issue?

Many add ons still do not work with Kodi 19+.  Best to stay with Kodi 18+ for now.

for the past year I'm using BMC, a Kodi-fork.  once installed, kasama na mga add-ons duon, wala ka na need pa install. search nyo na lang sa FB yung group na Midian Inc para makuha yung links on how to install. admin ng group mismo yung developers nyan and nag re-reply sila sa mga inquiries.
