Title: Samsung KS7000 Thread (49"/55"/65")
Post by: leomarley on Oct 23, 2016 at 01:17 PM
Just got this unit today. Was supposedly choosing between the Sony X8000D and Samsung KU6300 but just fell in love with the picture quality of this Quantum Dot display from Samsung.

From P80,000, nasa P52,000 na lang siya.

Anyone else have this? If you do, kindly share your picture settings for this unit.

But picture quality and color (hdr performance) which is better? I actually already have the Sony x8000c which is still not HDR. This is the primary reason why I want to upgrade.

didn't choose any of the two. decided to get the Samsung 49KS7000 instead. converting this thread to a Samsung KS7000 thread since there's none for this model.

no offense, but I find Sony X8000D better than Sammy KS7000.  did you see it otherwise, sir?

congrats on your KS7000!

that's what i was supposed to buy but I found out that it's not yet UHD Premium certified. hindi abot ng 1000 nits ang brightness which would mean the HDR would be lacking. Same price sila so I decided to go with the KS7000. Review sites also has this model as a recommended Ultra HD Premium TV. Quantum Dot na rin 'to which the X8000D isn't. Pero it all boils down to picture quality and naimpress talaga ako sa KS7000.

Sir leomarley, last week I was looking at KS7500 in 55". What's the difference between these two models? The KS model I think has the Quantum Dot Display.

By the way, Nice display sir Leomarley! ;)

afaik, the KS7500 is the curved one while the KS7000 is the flat version. Other than that, i think it doesn't have any difference.

thanks hehe.

I agree with your purchase from an image quality standpoint. Aside from the brighter QD lighting, most Sony models use IPS panels which I'm not a fan of (lackluster static contrast).

They intentionally omit such images on showroom demo material.

Example of VA vs IPS at the same level:
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ks8000 (http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ks8000)
http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x850d (http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x850d)

VA shows a significant advantage in static contrast and color gamut, while IPS' main advantage is a wide viewing angle.

Does it mean that most 1000-nit hdr tvs use VA panels? Which may also be the reason why Sony doesn't use the Ultra HD Premium certification even on their high end UHD TVs even though Sony is a member of the UHD Alliance.

Unless you have a pure black image to play with, most people will not notice these black levels.

Normal movies rarely have all black sequences except for the End Credits which most people skip.

Saka pansin lang talaga pag side by side though mas OK sa akin pag VA since I don't need wide viewing angles.

too technical thingies, sir, right?  not sure as well why Sony did this:
 - 43X8000D == VA panel
 - 49X8000D == IPS panel
 - --X8500D == IPS panel

you mentioned Sony isn't certified by UHD Alliance?  they have an answer with this, saying, they will not carry the UHD Premium badge but only use the logo "4K UHD".  I'll try to find back that article.  I think it's on UHD Alliance site or Sony's.

this is all gimmickry.  anyway, you're also right.  as it always boils down with the consumer's judgement on PQ.  we don't have all the same image interpretations =))

basta importante happy tayo sa untis na nabili natin =))  otherwise, upgrade, upgrade, upgrade... LOLz!

No. IPS panels offer enough transmissivity to reach 1000 nits with the right light source. It's just that they can't block the light well enough to offer good blacks. Increasing the light source intensity emphasizes this even more (and local dimming will often cause cloudy splotches).

Sony's high end TVs use VA panels (X930D, X940D and Z-series) and offer good contrast. I don't think they can compete with LG's OLED or Samsung's VA TVs if they stick with IPS for their entire lineup.

I think Sony purposely omitted UHD Premium labeling, because it'd make most of their TVs look bad (only the X930D, X940D and Z-series lines meet the UHD Premium spec).

A TV can meet the UHD Premium spec even with just a 540 nit maximum intensity, as long as the blacks are deep enough. A lot of Sony and LG TVs exceed this intensity limit, but only the high end VA Sony models and OLED LG models offer blacks deep enough to meet the spec.

Unless you have a pure black image to play with, most people will not notice these black levels.

Normal movies rarely have all black sequences except for the End Credits which most people skip.

Unless you crush the intensity extremes, you'd still notice less contrast on lower contrast scenes. You get a "flatter-looking" image without such an enhancement. Most TVs with lower contrast panels tend to do this to hide the shortcoming (which becomes very evident during calibration).

Yup kung saan talaga pasok ang taste ng consumer. X8000d has good pq as well. Ganda pa din details even on darker scenes. Nagbase lang din ako finally sa reviews ng Ks7000 na best bang for the buck according sa review sites and sa discount na binigay.

You'd also notice that the 43X8000D will take an HDR input, but the 49X8000D will not. The 43X8000D uses a QD light source, while the 49X8000D does not.

They can't always select comparable specs at each size for every model line as they're dependent on supply availability and costing. They go with different panel suppliers and different panel types depending on what makes sense from a cost and/or a performance perspective.

Parang lugi ata 49" ng x8000d. From what I understand, QD has better and more accurate whites compared to non-QD. Also read before na QD is also the reason why Sony and Samsung is not pushing for OLED screens since it's a cheaper alternative.

thanks for your post, sir!  i'm in the right direction on the Sony 43incher.  my room is quite small about 18sqm with viewing distance around 7ft max.  baka masira mga mata ng anak ko kaya maliit lang muna.

and while i'm on test mode about things like 4K, X265, video streaming and Android TV (including Kodi and free games, in-one same TV unit), seems I've been liking them all.  I also bought a Dualshock 4 controller with it.

upgrade nlang ako kpag mainstream na OLED, hence, its price has stabled. =)

I also observed the 49incher is 16K higher with a mere 6.5" difference with the 43incher. and 49 is IPS.  so I still chose the smaller end =))

share us more on your KS7000 and congratz again, sir!

QD lighting can help panels deliver a wider color gamut (the technology allows for a very high CRI light source). It also allows for brighter highlights (from increased light source intensity) and lower power consumption (due to higher typical efficiency).

Master, ang panel is still LCD pa din dba? Backlight lang ang QD or may additional QD panel sandwiched to control the backlight?

It is still an LCD panel, correct. There are two QD implementations used on TVs. One is using a QD layer on the panel sandwich (pioneered by Samsung and LG), and the other is using QD tubes in front of the LED arrays (pioneered by Sony). I believe Sony had switched over to the Samsung/LG style implementation for their newer TVs.

have you seen the demo in youtube comparing Sony and Samsung TVs were it shows that Sony is more detailed and image is lost in Samsung because it's color is oversaturated?  I was given the same demo in Abenson and made me believe that Sony (X7000D) is better than Samsung (KS7000).  Is it only because of the settings?

I'm not sure about that. What I love about the KS7000 is the black level. Di ko nakita sa X7000D yung contrast level na gaya ng sa KS7000. In terms of details naman, mas nagandahan ako sa details X8000D compared sa X7000D. kaya di ko na sinama sa choices ang X7000D.

It is also entirely likely that the camera and video format used is clipping the highlights and/or shadows, especially if we're talking about recent TV models.

From what i know ks7000 is the same as KS8000. KS700 is the european model code. There's a section sa rtings that shows that sa review nila ng ks8000.

I almost got the ks7000. Really nice tv pero the stands are located on its edges kaya di kasya sa tv rack ko. Was really dead set to get it but ended up getting the ks9000 since its stand is at the center. Instead of buying a new tv rack might as well dagdag ko na lang sa tv

Series 9 comes in different lines. The backlit variants are a notch above in image quality.

USA
KS9000 = Edgelit Flat
KS9500 = Edgelit Curved
KS9800 = Backlit Curved

Europe

KS9500 = Backlit Curved

hi I am interested also on this model , I noticed that there is only one rf input jack , but I have an analog cable subscription and at the same time would also like to use the built in Isdb-t tuner for local digital broadcast , both of which uses the  single rf input jack ..I would not like connecting and disconnecting rf cables .. The TV sets from hisense and devant , have 2 inputs but both LG and samsung only have 1

How do i mix the signals .. I did ask the guys at the appliance store but I could not get a good answer.

Interesting. I didn't know that there are still dual-tuner TVs in the market. That used to be common for PIP and split-image TVs.

If ever I get to buy one of these I have a few ideas I will try

Back to topic .. I think sm has the lowest price for the 49 , while for the  55 Abenson has the best offer.

Yes,  actually pabago bago sm quoted 49999 for the 49 in. Just now.. Last month nga mas Mataas.   But another 5 or 6 k will get you the 55 in at another dealer..

Will try asking for the 60.  baka may magandang offer...

how does the picture quality of these UHD quantum dot models compare with OLED TV's from LG?
Haven't spent time with LG's oled tvs that much. Palaging patingin tingin lang pag napadaan. But I can say that Ks7000 has really good black level. One of the best I've seen on a TV.

VA Panel + QD normally has very good results, and can outperform OLED in a bright room (especially with HDR material). OLED is hard to beat in a dark environment.

KS7000 has the distinction of having the thinnest border/bezel at 7mm.

So it looks like is floating.

It sips about 52W of power.

I do not own one neither have I auditioned it extenstively but the this TV is pretty awesome.

Would have been wonderful it it came in sizes larger than 65"

I bought the 49" last week at SM Appliance. Price is P49K with free Samsung HT and bluray player worth 9k (which I will be selling). The TV gets a score of 9 across the board except for sound in this avforum review and the reviewer seems really impressed.
https://www.avforums.com/review/samsung-ks7000-ue55ks7000-uhd-4k-tv-review.12659 (https://www.avforums.com/review/samsung-ks7000-ue55ks7000-uhd-4k-tv-review.12659)
I had it tested side by side with KS9000 series and could not tell the difference except in really dark and very contrasty scenes.

Reasons why I went Samsung instead of the Sony X8000D
- Samsung is VA Panel vs IPS panel of Sony (brighter and better contrast for VA panels)
- Native frequency is 120Hz vs 60Hz of Sony
- Although both are really thin, I prefer the Samsung edge bezel.
- Am using a Samsung phone so screen mirroring and other apps is compatible
- HT Freebie
- the AVforum review clinched my decision

Sony though has built-in Google cast but I already have a Chromecast device. Might be a consideration for you if you stream Twitch where I watch DOTA2 tournaments and Iflix which are not native apps for Samsung.

One thing to note is Samsung uses a One Connector box; the box connects to the TV then all your connections goes to that box. Cable length of box to TV is 1.5m I think.

hunting for 55 incher, will have the bonus next week :)

KS7000 i guess is at 59k range right? And I am reading the other thread for 55uh7700 and it's only 39k.
20k difference -  I can buy a high end NMT sa sukli :)

So, I guess... the question is, is the 20k difference had a huge impact to PQ and other stuff?

for me, the difference is huge in terms of PQ. also, i was in Abensons Waltermart a few days ago. seems they don't have the sale anymore. balik 80k ang price but I didn't inquire though. better to ask baka may hidden sale sila.

I think the main difference between the KS7000 (not the Euro version since it's supposed to be the same model as the US KS8000) and the KS8000 is that the KS7000 has an 8-bit panel (16.7M colors) while the KS8000 has a 10-bit panel (1.08B colors). Check the bezels to be sure. Within the KS8000 line, however, the 60" panel is thicker and supposedly made by Sharp while those of the other panel sizes are thinner Samsung panels.

Nope. It's a 10-bit panel. They wouldn't be able to say it supports HDR10 if it's not a 10-bit nor give it an "S" UHD badge and wouldn't get the UHD Premium certification if it isn't 10-bit. Even Samsung's lower end KU6300/6600 has a 10-bit panel. KS7000 here is the same as the KS7000 in the UK and KS8000 in the US.

I believe most of the KU models run 8-bit panels. They do support 10-bit input and use dithering on the 8-bit panel to provide good output (dithering is quite difficult to detect on most UHD panels due to the fine pixels/subpixels). The KS models all run 10-bit panels, afaik.

@leomarley, Sir, my existing TV is a 40" FHD Samsung, and I am planning to buy a 55" TV (eyeing on KU6000), which is a 4K UHD/HDR.... I came across your thread about 49KS7000 and likewise read reviews about it and it appears that 49KS7000 is far superior that the 55KU6000. But my dilemma is this: The size difference of 6 inch between a 55" TV and 49" TV something to consider. Being used to the 40", would I still consider that a 49" TV be "new" visually? Unlike a 55" TV, I would really "see" the BIG difference.....(I hope you got my point).

Another question, I have an LG Home Theater which merely has a DVD player and not a Blue Ray Player. Now, since my LG Home Theater has 5.1 speakers with 1000rms but with aesthetically better than the Samsung HT, my questions are: (1) Is the HT Blue Ray player of Samsung having a 1000rms speakers? (2) if so, would it be OK if I use the speakers of LG to match the Samsung Blue Ray player?

Just looked at their test results. It's good to know that most major brands have moved to 10-bit panels. Only the value brands stuck with 8-bit panels for 2016 it seems.

Ok na rin nga even the mid level uhd hdr TVs kasi HDR10 na rin. Although kulang pa sila when it comes to brightness, contrast, and grey uniformity.

My initial shipping cost is P11K but the reported actual weight is more than double the item's actual weight.  I'm having that corrected now.  Dapat mabusisi ka sa measurements.  Since the US office takes in a lot of cargo, sometimes the personnel there take shorts cuts in measuring the box size and actual weight.  Since the shipping cost is based on actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, you have to show them proof (like Packaging Size and Packaging Weight stated in Amazon) that their measurements are wrong.  Shippingcart.com offers both air cargo and sea cargo.  Before buying an item, use the site calculator first to estimate your shipping cost for both air and sea.  For air cargo, items requiring special handling cost more to ship.

Sea cargo sir? But LBC SC had this rule?  " Off-size items, which are defined as any item that exceeds 18 inches, whether in terms of length, width, or height, fall under this category."  which make the item for class 2 air. Or pwede pa din for SEA cargo?

Sensya na po kung OT. Kinda new in LBC SC. Just ordered av receiver from Amazon kc.

Back on topic. For me.  I always like the Series 7 up from Samsung. Yung 4k TV namin is series 7 2014 model. 39k bili ko Last march. Hindi n kc mkpaghintay bumili n agad. 2015 models are still pricey back then.

You can send any item of any size by sea cargo.  For TVs, maximum size for air cargo is 55" but that would be too expensive.  You can call LBC SC at 8585999 if you have questions on their policies.  I've been buying online and shipping it to them for almost 2 years now. Really happy with their service.  However, read the fine print.  If you have items that require special handling for air cargo (like any gadget with a battery), the price jump is quite substantial. Experiment with grouping your shipments into more than one shipment (even if all air cargo) and see if the price savings are worth it.

I bought the UN65KS8000 and not the KS7000.  The KS8000 and the KS9000 have the same 10-bit panel although the PQ in the KS9000 is slightly better.  Price increment does not justify the PQ improvement though.

I've been using SC since they started pa ata but never thought of sending in TV. I always thought it's pricey to do so, based on the quotation by Forex when I inquired before. Forex quoted me an outrageous $400 for a 40 inches tv! So, your info is so useful to me, not just through SC but if am in the US, I'll probably ship a BB through LBC containing the TV.

Hi Sir. wala na ding bang tariff/taxes yung pinaship nyung TV? I remember in SC website may taxes/tariffs cla based on item. Now I can't see the link but if you know the url, you can see the tariff/taxes. Nagpaship din kasi ako ng AV receiver today, pero wala namang additional taxes.

Hello everyone!

I bought this TV back in August, and I must say it's worth it.

Sayang lang kasi if I waited a few months, mas mura ko sya makukuha sana.

Anyway, anyone else here having issues with the tv?

I have a blue horizontal line going from the left-right edge along the middle part of the tv.

So far, wala pang feedback on the replacement.

Thank you!

Just like with Sony where x8000D's version in the US is x800D. They have slight differences like the design and layout of the back but specs are basically the same.

Just starting to enjoy my 49" inch unit. However, I noticed that I cannot search other apps in the APPS menu of this tv like Playstation Now or NBA. Is there any limitations in terms of region/location in searching apps?

Guys help baka alam nyo.

Our cable provider is cablelink here in Taguig. It is still an analog signal that use the traditional coaxial cable. I hooked this up to the aerial input of the connection box, after which I did a channel scan. The channels was detected but there is no sound in all the channels.

Have any of you experienced this? Please suggest on how to fix the issue.

Thanks in advance!

The installers normally would do a manual programming of the cable signals,  pag auto the channels are mixed up. Pls try there are also sound settings in the channel programming

Sir ako lang nag install. hehe

Anyway okay na sya. I chat with Samsung CSR and she instructed me to change the region to USA/AMERICA. I previously selected ASIA.

It seems our terrestial broadcast is base from US standard.

Had the chance to view this unit at an appliance store and was immediately impressed.  I remember also viewing an oled B6  from months past and I'm pretty sure the wow factor i had then is the same i had with the samsung.

I haven't seen both units side by side, but although OLED they say is better and pricier, i think the KS700 is a cheaper and worthy alternative.

I am very happy with my unit.  Wish we had more 4k available materials.  What I have are mostly full HD.

It is. Ang B6, it has extremely deep blacks but lower in backlight intensity (lower brightness). Ang KS7000 naman, it is a little lighter in blacks but has very high backlight brightness. Both of these situations meet the requirements for HDR compliance so both are the best in terms of HDR picture quality although the OLED will be marginally better because the black levels really pop.

maganda sana kung ma combine ang high points nang 2 technologies. Hopefully kapag "real" quantom dots na. In 2018 pa daw sabi ni samsung.

The way K7000 is reducing its price is making it the better alternative.  Abenson at congressional even offered me the 49" at 50k and later offered me the 55"  for the same price.  Sayang, medyo kulang pa sa buget.

Yes, sana. I can just imagine how awesome HDR will be if that happens. The problem with Samsungs 2017 QLED offerings is that as per early reviews, it appears that they are not a step up from their 2016 SUHD TVs (the KSs). Black levels and brightness basically did not improve ata. So from a price standpoint, the KSs remain very good buys given the drop in prices.

I think it depends on your cable provider. Our's is crappy cablelink. If your cable provider is digital and has good signal, the PQ wil be great.

Other ks7000 who is on cignal or sky here?

Pero if we really want very good PQ for SD channels, let's go back to CRT TVs  ;D

Had the chance to pass by Abenson yesterday and tested the KS700. Had with me my daughter's 1TB EHD with various HD/non HD movies.  Below 720P movies showed heavy pixelization  and i''m assuming the same goes for SD broadcasts as well.  Made me realized that my old 32 LCD Panasonic performed better.  Is this the case for samsung, poor up-scaling for below 720P and SD videos?

The sales guy allowed me to demo the OLED also, which didn't show the weakness of the samsung.

Anyway, i guess it all boils down to software.

I notice that analog broadcast cable is better on my panny 42 plasma than this one.

I tried some of my DVD rips and so far I think they are "satisfactory".

But as they say, who watch non-HD these days. :)

Agree.  Just didn't expect that a flagship model  would have any issues on pixelization.  Still, IMO, the K7000 is the next best alternative to OLED.

Btw sir Tony, are you watching using the built in player of the TV? Me I am using the software just for convenience. Stand alone player is still best.  TVs software are not know for good upscaling, alternative is a laptop/PC with good video card.

Q7F is the correct next model for the KS7000. The MU7000 is lower in terms of specs and features than the KS7000. One good thing about the KS7000 (or KS8000 in the US) is that rtings.com and 4k.com say that in some areas (and perhaps all around performance), the KS7000/KS8000 is still better than the Q7F.  I bought my 55" KS7000 for 55K in Abensons. The 55" Q7F is being sold at 152K. Go for the KS7000 if you can still get one.

Got at unexpected windfall last week and finally got the 49inch ks700.  Got the last available stock at Abenson SM North.  Being a display unit the past 2 mos., I was able to negotiate the price at P41K.  Hanep the picture!! Tamang tama for the NBA finals.

I was able to connect a digital cable from the TV to my amp and the sound via sky cable came out just fine.  However playing via USB, i noticed that not all Audio formats are being played.  Anybody have this same experience?  Thanks!

Try turning the Auto motion switch off.

The HDR+ setting should be turned off if source programs are HDR certified like those coming from Netflix or PS4 games, although Samsung states HDR programs can still benefit with the switch on.  YMMV here or as always, depends on your  preference.

just came from SM a few hours ago, they still have it at 52k+ if cash purchase, not sure if that's a good deal, but that is much lower than the 2017 models that they have on display - MU8000 and QF7

It is a VA panel. You can get more details on the 1st page of this thread.

The VA panel limits viewing angle.  One should sit directly in front of the KS7000 as color decreases as one angularly moves away.  :)

Got a couple of questions for those who've owned this unit for over 6 months.

Can you give us an update on your time with this set? A ton of positive reviews but a lot of negative feedback as well.

A lot of the negativity stems from firmware updates that may impact picture quality. Of course YMMV.

> What is the most stable firmware number so far?
> Complaints about blue/red color separation during Game mode.
> Difficult to remove judder during panning scenes.
> Brightness goes up and down occasionally during high contrast scenes.

Tempted to make a purchase but I'm afraid of getting these issues.
Also, which retailer offers the best warranty or return period? (lahat ba 7 days lang?)

I have updated to the latest firmware. It is stable but smart functionalities still have hiccups, like Youtube menu very unstable when searching for videos and texts overlapping each other

No comment as I dont play games

My complaint was is this unit is not good on SD formats. But this was resolve when I activated HDR+ capability. So far happy with my purchase. Miles apart from the Plasma Panny I bought last 2011 - even on the black level.

Stocks are quickly running out. Most stores that have it only have display units left of the 49 incher. 55 inches I think is pretty much gone now.

The stores that have display units still are Western (Megamall), SM Appliances (Megamall), Abenson (Farmers), SM Appliances (SM Cubao)

Still a good deal. I was bent on buying the same size in Ansons for 47K.  Ansons is selling the 55incher for 54K.
But upon finding out that Abenson is selling the 55' for 50k, I decided to get the bigger one.

Meron pabang KS7000 sa market ngayon? I tried looking around wala  na akong makita. Any other good alternatives? or its not a good time to buy a TV right now?

What I'm looking for:

- TV for living room
- Size 55" to 60" max
- Needs to have high brightness (nit) as bright as possible - yung living room (2x big bay windows - in front of TV and side)
- TV needs to be non reflective as much as possible
- pref in the 50k to 70k price range (pero mas ok kung mas mura)

90% - To be used by teenagers playing PS4
10% - Sky cable TV

(note: movies - we watch sa bedroom on a 78" Samsung)

Hey there KS7000 owners. I just want to know how you did your setup.
I have the Samsung KS7000, Denon 2809 and an Xbox One S

Currently I have the Xbox One S connected directly to the Samsung KS7000 via HDMI (It has to be or else I won't get 4k and HDR) (The Denon 2809 being an old receiver does not support 4k HDR passthrough)

And for sound I use an Optical cable from the Xbox One S to the Denon 2809.

Is this the best way to set it up now? At best I can only get DD or DTS from Optical. Is itv time for an upgrade?

Can I use the ARC feature of the TV to let sound out of the TV to the receiver?

This ARC feature is confusing me lol

I use the arc functionality as my receiver is also non 4k hdr pass through ready yet. You need to connect the receiver to the tv's arc hdmi port.

Sir @leomarley

How do you get the HD Audio passthrough? Ano dapat yung Expert settings sa Audio? I only get PCM and Dolby Processed sound from the ARC to the Soundbar.

Your setup would be better since my Soundbar is only 4k @30 so no HDR passthrough yet if I put the soundbar in between the TV and the Media player.

Thanks!

Check your Media Player if it support passthrough, then just enable it.  If successful the audio setting dts and dolby will be highlighted.

Oh ok. Yup. Got that to work na. But I was hoping that I could get the DTSHDMA and Dolby TrueHD to passthrough.

Currently, I'm looking for a 1x2 splitter that keeps the highest reso possible (4k 60 + HDR), but unfortunately, the ones I find on Amazon will split the resolution, but will adjust to the "lowest" resolution connected. I want to output the video to the KS7000, and then the audio to the Soundbar para HD Audio (DTSHDMA and Dolby TrueHD).

The KS8000 was such a hit in the US in 2016 that people largely ignored the KS9000. Learning from that, Samsung crippled the 2017 replacement of the KS8000.  In the US, KS8000 stocks are selling out fast even if the current price for the 65-incher is almost US$1000 higher than the Black Friday price I paid for mine. :)

I think so sir.  PQ wise, I compared it side by side, MU700 is a little bit better (sharper for my taste).  If you prefer the Ks7000, SM appliance store has bnew available units for the 60" variant.

Sir which branch of SM appliance store did you see selling the 60" variant and how much? Thanks

Thanks to this thread, the search is over for a new TV.  I did plan to get 55-65 4K TV this time. i am from cebu so choices are limited.

- was initially set on getting the 55KU6000 as it is heavily discounted but I really want native support for 24p and 120hz refresh rate

- so i went to sm appliance for the sony 65x750d (native 120hz but blacks are not good), price was about 66k during that sm prestige sale.  got disappointed when testing narcos at 480p and i think the TV was too big at 8 feet.  maybe because the TV was placed on the top shelf so i wasnt able to appreciate it.

- now the choice was already between sony 55x9000 (80k) and samsung 55mu7000 (64k).  i am still having 'what-ifs' though if i want to get the 65" since this is another 5-year investment.  when i was about to go back to the store to get the samsung, this thread came up. lol. KS7000 is perfect! it's a middle ground between 55" and 65" so nothing to decide anymore.  plus, it is having great reviews on the pq, etc.  and the price? oh my gosh. hahaha

- fortunately, the samsung promoter here is very industrious and she found one in sm moa.  only catch is i need to wait for 3 weeks for the TV to get here but well, good things come to those who wait.

Thanks to all. Cheeers

Congrats!  The drop down in price makes the KS7000 a steal! I thought there are no more stocks for this?

I've suffered the same thing many times on different occasions (different TV's and video cards, both mine and for relatives/friends) and these are the solutions that worked:

If your pc has a dvi port, try using that, if there still is a flicker then consider possible issues with the video card itself or the video drivers.  If it doesn't work even with a VGA cable then definitely the video card is the problem (since VGA is analog, if both analog and HDCP doesn't work then the card needs to be looked at or even replaced).

Been enjoying my KS7000!

I'm currently on a 3.0 Mbps PLDT DSL monthly plan.  Netflix viewing is at par with my sky cable digital channels.  Am i maximizing my Netflix viewing with 3.0 mbps or should I upgrade to 5.0 Mbps to experience HDR territory?

Thanks!

While 4K for Netflix is at around 25 Mbps.

You might want to check for Converge or PLDT Fibr in your area.  You don't get enough bang for your buck with DSL.

Just my luck.  Per PLDT fiber is available on a limited basis in our area. Hopefully my upgrade request will come through.

I've requested for P1,899 plan at 20 MBPS.  Is this enough for streaming Netflix HDR?

Thanks!

Thanks!  Per PLDT, installation will proceed within 48 hrs.  Not sure also on how to detect HDR but if we were to base it on KS7000 "HDR on" setting, colors would seem overly bright.

Fibr is not available in our area yet and PLDT's DSL will only give a max of 15Mbps.  Is this enough for Netflix UHD/HDR?  My current dsl at 3.0 Mbps is enough for hd viewing only.  Will there be a noticeable improvement if i upgrade both Netflix (to UHD) and DSL or will Netflix downgrade broadcast to HD as the bandwidth is low?

Thanks!

How about netflix HDRs?

Thanks!

Not many Netflix HDR titles yet.  "The Crown, Kimmy Schmidt, Star Trek Discovery and Jessica Jones" are a few titles that look good but compared to short videos by you tube, mas jaw dropping ang YT.  Maybe because demo HDR videos ang nasa YT kaya  better.

They say a blue ray player showing 4k HDR videos is much better than streaming due to compression brought about by streaming.  But hey the wow factor with YT/Netflix is alright already and besides i now have the option to download those 40gb UHD HDR files if i just know where to look. :)

After a few days, Netflix viewing now is at par with you tube, same glorious color.  Could be due to Netflix adjusting their streaming to the new bandwidth.  Even Netflix streaming of ancient Star Trek is presented in stunning color.  Must be also due to KS700 up scaling feature!

Kudos to fibr!

When i upgraded to Fiber 50mbps, i also upgraded my netflix subscription to premium.  This is just P90 addtional monthly fee.  Then, I adjusted my Netflix setting to stream at max.  During my first day with fibr/netflix, i also didn't noticed any improvement, although You tube 4k videos were immediately shown stunningly.  Now, Netflix is streaming as YT is, both satisfying.

Soo I just want to check, any KS7000 owners here who use a GTX 1070?

I just got one and setting up /calibrating it isn't as straightforward as I would've wanted it to be.

First off you can't turn on 'Game Mode' when the input is labeled PC. HDR content is often washed out and in certain I chose the right settings.

Anyone with this experience?

Is the ks7000 able to detect HD channels of GMA and ABS? I tried scanning local channels using local antenna but can't seem to get HD signal.

Thanks!
