di pa ako naka try nung kay Marco eh..pero sa polk 125 sulit ka na dyan in my experience ha. Dapat nga keep ko nalang yung 125 di sana dual sub na ako. ;)

polk125 underpowered ung amp 200 watts lang yata pero ok na rin if compared sa polk 110 saka kung d ka naman malakas magsound sa movie. pero kung polk better ang polk 660wi vs psw125 though 25k price kc malakas amp nya.

FS are generally more efficient and has better extension than BS of the same brand in the same line. That means more SPL and bass for the same amplifier power. I don't get it when people say FS would be harder to drive than their BS counterparts.

Usually napansin ko, higher sensitivity kapag FS compared to BS of the same series and model.

with your 60K, you could wait for good speakers become available at our MP section -- wait wait ka lang. don't rush..
for the amp, either maka-tyempo ka ng magandang updated amp na mura, or buy it bnew with warranty.
pwede naman chop-chop muna: amp + BS/FS + sub. then follow-up with your center. then surrounds will be last.

Don't spend too much on speaker cable. Yung sakto lang. Gamit ko yung tig 35/m lang sa Raon. Lalo pa at more on movies ka.
Swerte mo kasi hindi "trained" ang mga tenga mo. Ayos yan. Wag kang masyadong mag rely sa iba na may trained ears hehehe.... Ikaw ang gagamit hindi kami. Isama mo family mo minsan sa pag audition mo para may input din sila.

Audition lang ng audition. Wag ka mag madali. Ikaw lang makakapagsabi kung anong sound ang gusto mo. For timbre matching, better kung one brand lang speakers mo, ung sub kahit ano brand puede pero madami kaming gusto ang svs.

Mahabang explanation yan sir. Relative 0 db. Hehe!
Before you dive into that, check na specs of amp and speaker muna. Then listen to it at your volume preference. Kung match ang specs and ayos ang tunog for you at your preferred volume, okay na din yan.

gamit ka ng SPL meter...using your avr for calibration, run pink noise over your speakers to get a uniform 75db for all your speakers.. adjust as necessary

so ibig ba sabihin sir ok lng na umabot let say +4db yung isang speaker tpos yung iba nka 0.bsta pareparehas sila sa spl na 75.
prang oo nga hindi naman pwede na zero lahat kasi magaadjust sya.kaso ang pagkakadinig ko sa 0db ay mahina masyado kahit nasa 40 na sya so ibig sabihin bka umabot sya sa 5db bago ko maramdaman yung maayos na tunog sa 40

Sir yun speakers distance is relative to your seating position and the speakers. Its not something that you copy from others kasi iba iba ng distance.
Re "level of sensitivity", I think your receiver has its own pink noise. All you have to do is to play them and adjust the "loudness. Even without an SPL meter, you have your ears naman to tell you if its louder than the other. If the system starts at front left speaker, then use that as a reference for "loudness". Compare it with the center and all the speakers. Kailangan sa start they have equal "loudness". Then after a few movies or so, adjust according to your preference.
Plus may auto calibration naman ang most receivers so if your not adept to the functions, let the auto calibration do it's job and enjoy your system.

Mabuti siguro targetin mo na muna ang amp then habang wala pa syo basahin mo ang manual ahead. Importante ang calibration mic in case used ang mabili mo. Mahirap yung manghihiram ka lang dahil for sure panay ang kalikot mo.
Hayaan mo lang mag auto calibrate. Maraming ref. sa net. Kung may mahiram kang SPL meter the better but kung wala naman oks lang yan.
Don't forget your acoustics but pwedeng saka na yan. Again, madami ding ref. sa net about that.
9ft apart for your mains and sweetspot is ideal. I find having the center speaker above the screen/TV better dahil mas malapit sa taas ang ulo ng nagsasalita. Pwede namang to follow na lang muna ang surround ang importante maka 3.1 ka. That way malagyan mo ng magandang budget ang mains. Iwas SARS na rin yan. Kasi kung pagkasyahin mo ang budget mo ngayon for 5.1 o 7.1 baka mapilitan ka lang tyagain ang kasya then later once ipost mo na ang gears mo at maraming pumuri at lalawak na rin ang kaalaman mo dahil lagi kang naka tambay sa PDVD, mangangati kang mag upgrade sooner than you think.
Once ma hook ka dito, yari ka! Hehehe... Unless, after mo mag setup goodbye PDVD agad agad which I doubt haha!
Don't rush. Lapit na December (magkasalungat ata hehe).

Kung wala kang spl meter meron mga apps for android and iphone na pwede mong ma download. Para di ka mahirapan sir auto calibrate mo na lang tapos saka ka na lang mag adjust or mag tweak pero most of the time sakto naman ang result ng auto calibration based on my experience with pioneer and marantz receivers.

If and only if limited lang talaga sa 3 receivers na yan, I'd pick the 636. 531 would be my last choice. Never liked the sound and features of entry level receivers with their wimpy power supplies, ever.

for me, i prefer to buy the following audio gears:
receiver-as brand new
front,center, surrounds speakers-as second/third hand
subwoofer-as second hand
my reason is that generally, receivers have shorter lifespan than speakers and sub, being a mere electronic item (baka may issues na mabili mo hence no peace of mind kasi mahal magpaayos ng receiver.)
im not comfortable though with entry level receivers like pioneer 531 because of weak power. pioneer 930 is way better if you can allocate a bit more of your budget, or onkyo 737.
kung walang issues/sira, i chose onkyo 545 over 636 mainly because its a bit newer generation than 636 (656 na ngayon and 555).

the 3 years warranty would matter a lot pag dating sa electronics. the longer the warranty coverage is the better. 20 percent discount for svs is quite huge and if it comes with 3 years warranty panalo yun.

is this still a 5.1 set-up? aabot na sa 80K because of the brand new SVS? which AVR have you chosen now?
also, go for the better cables like anya's and paolorenzo's. perhaps for your surrounds only will you go for the cheaper P65/meter wires or lower. but for the fronts, center & sub, allocate funds for them.

Teka, almost 80-90% pala ng gears ko preowned hehe... Ang isang nagkaproblema lang ako ay ang Nad Integ pero naayos ko with a simple hinang lang... Just sharing.

Check mo ang load. Wag mo isagad, laging maglagay ng allowance. Yung iba gumagamit pa ng line conditioner. Ang sub ko sa Panther surge protector lang nakasaksak.

there is a thread that will guide you sa pag bili ng tamang voltage regulator and how to compute capacity. ang safe consideration na sinasabi eh use 60 % lang ng actual capacity. may ampere rating yung equipment na makikita sa likod just multiply that sa voltage yung lalabas yung wattage na. so kung 220 volts at 2 amps 440 va na sya. yung pb1000 baka less thant800 yan. check mo ratings sa likod.
madaming members ang di gumagamit ng voltage regulators so far wala naman naging issue sa gamit nila pero meron ding nagkaka issue. mas marami ang gumagamit ng voltage regulator sa palagay ko. may seller dito ng regulators na maganda ang presyo si dfa dar ang name nya. nag deliver sya ng malapit sa manila. samwon at goldsource ang pinakamabenta nya.

the only way na masasabi mong lagpas pag nag compute ka ng load. kung 3000 watts ang regulator base sa payo ng mga kaibigan ko in the know 60 percent ang dapat gamitin meaning 1800 watts lang ang safe gamitin. para malaman mo kung ano ang total wattage ng gamit mo dapat mo check yung ratings usually nasa likod yan ng gamit. yung voltage multiply mo sa amperage. yung lalabas yun ang load mo. mahirap ang tantyahan at speculation sa kuryente. pero tulad ng sabi ko madami din ako nabasang members na ok naman ang experience sa walang regulator. para mas madali kang matulungan ng mga members post mo yung nakalagay sa likod ng gamit mo para matulungan ka mag compute.

If you have an automatic voltage regulator rated at 3KVA, the 100V or 110V output should be limited to 1.5KVA or half of the rating of the voltage regulator. Also, if you practice a 60% maximum load that translates to a maximum load of 0.9KVA or 900VA for the 100V/110V output. HTH.

Check/follow muna ang user's manual ng avr. Enjoy. After a week or so saka mo kalikutin kapag kinati ka na hehe. May thread dito para sa mga movies with good sfx. Enjoy. Baka Maaliw ka sa sub, don't overkill it. Hth.

manual setup mo na lang, madali lang naman.

mahirap yatang mag payo kapag wala pang speaker at receiver at kung hindi pa na set up lahat ng gamit parang namamana sa dilim ang magpapayo. pinaka maganda bilin na muna lahat ng gamit, i set up kumpleto ang receiver, front. center at surround kasama ang subwoofer pakinggan at saka magpatuloy ng tanong base sa observation mo sa pakikinig mo.

only tested the ht at 1.5 hrs cartoon and 1hr music.still have issues with the cosmetics of sub.still researching if its normal na hindi pulido yung adhesive nya ss woofer

for me, sa movies mahina sound ng pb1000 pag medium to large room.
kaya yung iba dual pb1000 or single pb2000 kinukuha. pero pag music ok naman pb1000.

Take time at magpapawis ka kakalikot til you hit it. Isang tip sa placement ng sub is to place it sa sweet spot then while playing your chosen test tone, pumwesto ka sa target locations then kung saan ang best doon mo ilagay ang sub. That is kung may option ka other than its location nya ngayon.
Start low on your calib then increase gradually. Dami mong kailangan i-back read. Hth.

This pretty sums up what you need to do when calibrating. Be easy on the gain. Imho, bass must be felt but not much heard.

Try mo ilipat ng placement. Di naman kailangan nasa harap ang sub. Pwde sya sa gilid ng sofa. Invest for a longer quality cable para umabot sa likod ng sofa.

maraming factors why a subwoofer would not perform according to expectations. may times yung reproduction ng movie mismo at music na di maganda. yung size at orientation ng lugar kung saan nakalagay ang subwoofer, yung adjustments done after calibration a panghuli panglasa ng nakikinig. madalas proper placement ng subwoofer ang culprit kaya kailangang ilipat lipat ng posisyon hanggang makuha yung tunog na gusto.kung may limitasyon sa paglilipat at ayaw din ng mas malaking subwoofer mahirap makuha ang expected results. may kanya kanya ding pang lasa baka di akma sa panlasa mo ang pb1000 kaya talagang mahirap ma meet ang expectation.

Kagaya ng post ko earlier, laruin mo muna ang pwesto ng sub. Hanap ka kasama kung ayaw mong sumakit ang likod hehe... Yan ang pinagkaiba sa HTIB but milya naman ang pinagkaiba once masetup mo na.

to tell you honestly sir, pinakamahirap isetup/calibrate ang subwoofer sa ht system, maaaring nasanay ang tenga mo sa boom boom boom pero wala/kulang naman sa SQ, so iniiexpect mo na kailangan lakasan ang subwoofer para masatisfy ka, pero hindi kasi ganon pagdating sa subwoofer.
pero based uli sa experience ko, pinakaimportante ay yung PROPER SUBWOOFER PLACEMENT. It's a BIG NO na ilalagay mo ang subwoofer mo sa gitna ng HT mo lalo na yung nasa gitna ng front wall mo, Null point or whatever they call it yung pwesto na yun. Hindi rin idinidikit sa wall ang sub, dapat may clearance atleast not less than 8" (<correct me na lang guys if i'm wrong).
Anyway, mas madali ka sana naming matutulungan kung meron kang layout ng HT room mo or kahit picture.
Or maybe SVS is not for you right now, mag-try ka na lang ng ibang sub, try mo kila aaudio/diymaster, marcopilyo for diy subs baka mas masatisfy ka sa mga gawa nila, malay natin di ba?

Maybe user expectation is the issue. The SVS sub itself is very capable. The way the issue was described is that to get to the level that the user is happy the gain was cranked all the way up.
Most modern day systems components like subwoofers have a plethora of adjustment parameters that can cater to a wide variety of users tastes but if the expectation is far too great for the component to deliver then its not an issue with the hardware anymore.

Saang shop o ht ka nakapag audition nga pala? What you have in mind or expectation prior?
Ang hanapin mo details and balance. A good setup hindi puro boom boom. Having a sub doesn't mean ioverpower nya ang iba. Natural lang na nakatuon ang isip mo sa LFE kaya di ka na makapag concentrate sa palabas. Panoorin mo muna yung may magandang SFX.
Merong thread dito about test movies...pakihanap na lang.

things i learned since i joined pdvd (with much happy regrets)
tips on audio gears:
1. location location location
2. use corrective acoustics (50% of the equation yan)
3. you haveto have the correct measuring gears to calibrate. di yan play by ear.... if you dont have that, have it calibrated by the pros..
4. dont overexpect. if you buy an entry level toyota, dont expect a high end lexus
5. set aside funds.. as in major FUNDS. magastos na bisyo ang HT.

yes, 11db hot and not counting the increase in the analog gain knob equals subwoofer ruining levels.

did you not check the item before you took it home? The moment you stepped out of sir mike's compound, you waived any and all claims for cosmetic issues. So, don't rant about it.
On the other hand, if you checked the unit before you went home, you should have seen it there and asked for another unit.
As stated by the other members, it is very diffult to set up the subwoofer. It is a trial and error process. It's not like jack's beanstalk that you throw anywhere and then watch it magically grow.
Your sub is a very superb sub. I just hope that you are not using the supposed cosmetic issue to cover up your inability to use your sub properly and ask for a replacement.
Anyway, an offer from sir mike is on the table. I suggest you take it.

im about to buy svs sub pb1000 this month and hindi biro ang 30k pesos for an average person like me. ang wori ko lang, although cosmetic issue lang naman yata yan, baka kasi pag bibili na ako ng svs pb1000, yan mismo ang ma-pick up sa bodega nila. baka kasi mangyari din sa akin nangyari sa u. ako kasi i dont have the luxury of time to return a bulky heavy sub and also the hassles that accompany the return. pag bumili ako, gusto ko one shot na, wala ng balik balik para walang hassle.
its good that sir mike allows return of merchandise with full refund. yung iba kasing av shop, no return-no refund ang policy.

i've received the unit from sir jaythan.
the pictures seem to make the "cosmetic issue" very serious.
closeup picture kasi.
to the naked eye, it looks normal.
it is just excess adhesive for the dust cap. (besides being normal, it does not affect performance at all)
i will do a listening test before putting it in the b-stock store.
p.s. sinilip ko itong 150k subwoofer na pinapakinggan ko ngayon, ganon din adhesive ng dust cap nito.

Agree the close ups magnify the "cosmetic" issue. I've seen other brand new drivers with much worse adhesives.

got the refund from sir mike kanina.actually hindi ko kasi sya nainspect nung kinuha ko sya nung last saturday.since pick up lang ang usapan and no testing.dahil mali set up ko its either refund or no warranty.so since baguhan ako i opted for refund.parang ayoko na nga sanang isoli kanina nung tinuturo na ni sur mike yung tamang pagamit pero since andun na rinefund ko na rin.dapat pala tumawag na lang ako para magpaturo at baka pwede na ulit 3 yrs warranty.
now its either kuha ako svs with one year warranty na lang(other store dahil bad record na kay sir mike)or other sub na lang
yung sa adhesive madami nga nagsabi na wala yun at ok lang late ko nalaman and sana hindi ko na lang sya pinansin.(first instinct kasi check muna physical na hitsura bago loob.hehehe)since new lang ako dito sa ht madami pa ko kaylangan matutunan talaga.

Mabait lang si Mike C pero lugi sya sa deal na to. Baka nga mas matibay pa ang kapit nyan due to excess glue. Once covered w/ grill wala ng papansin nyan other than sa iyong isipan.
The best talaga you find ample time to audition esp subwoofers dahil mabigat at mahal. Kung nagtyaga ka sanang nagpaturo muna kay Mike at audition 3 subs prior.

actually napangiti ako ng todo sa 3oclock at +6db kaso napaisip ako na mukhang mataas masyado.ang ginamit ko na pang testing ng movies na cartoon is 2oclock plus 4db pwede din(yung mga bata natuwadin) kaso mali kasi ginalaw ko pa yung gain nya at sensitivity pagkatapos ng calibration.
pagiisipan ko yung 12 inch dahil sa budget problem.
i might try to audition marco pilyo sub also kaso wala pa daw box(much cheaper)

wharfedale 230,200c,dfs-sobrang ok na ko dito dahil sa pandinig ko sobrang satisfied na ako.
yung pioneer vsx531-yun lang kaya sa budget na bnew
no sub yet.wla pa burn in period.baka 3-5 hrs pa lang nagagamit.kahit sa music mamimis mo yung sub.hindi kaya kahit naka large pa setting.

Mabait lang si Mike C pero lugi sya sa deal na to. Baka nga mas matibay pa ang kapit nyan due to excess glue. Once covered w/ grill wala ng papansin nyan other than sa iyong isipan.
The best talaga you find ample time to audition esp subwoofers dahil mabigat at mahal. Kung nagtyaga ka sanang nagpaturo muna kay Mike at audition 3 subs prior.

Bitin nga syo ang sinauli mong svs... Mag Pilyo ka na nga lang habang pinagiipunan mo ang svs o other known brands.

ingat lang sa pag gamit ng walang subwoofer at baka yung speaker mo naman ang masira lalong sasakit ang ulo mo sa gastos.

need ko magcompute kung mag sss loan para sa pb2000 but will try muna marco pilyo bago ang lahat.
pa pm naman kung sino meron marco pilyo dyan na gustong i share nila experience nila or ipost dito
much better kung parehas na nila napakingan yung dalawa.
this time hindi na ko in a rush bumili ng sub

Or baka super taas ng expectation mo talaga that you would need a more powerful sub for that matter. Yun lang wala akong alam na sub na same price ng SVS mo na powerful unless you want to try the DIY route. Which is semi complicated if you don't properly match the amp, enclosure and driver.
Have you tested the SVS in Mike's place before getting it? So you'll have a reference point kasi and you'll know kung ang movie material or setup mo ang problem.

Yes. Pero ang issue kasi ng TS is yun gain or lakas ng lows niya. Kaya most often ang advice natin for beginners is to audition audition and audition so you'll have a reference point as to SQ and loudness. Without proper reference, you really can't tell what good, or malakas etc.

Can't really rely on others' experience. Ganyan din naman ako, ask others first pero as addtl info lang. Pero may mga nabili akong pure "bahala na" dahil gusto ko lang talaga.
Baka nga mad mabuting mag Pilyo muna since may budget constraint pa.

SVS pa din ang kunin mo. Basta make sure na tama na yung calibration, positioning at room treatment mo. Bili ka na din spl meter. Ask a pdvd member near your place to help you set up.

napaka halaga ng reputation at trust sa hobby na ito. yung mga sellers dito built their reputation in time so it is important to ask them properly about the issue and shy away from doubting na na shortchange ang buyer. in my case naka apat na subs na ako kay mike c and i have not tested any bago ko iuwi.pag dating sa bahay may mga observations ako about cosmetics so immediately nag pm ako to inquire but there was no doubt in my mind na brand new yung mga nabili ko.
svs does not boast of booming ear piercing bass. ang gusto ko sa svs is the extension and clarity. madalas kung marinig there is no replacement for displacement kaya dont expect a lot sa pb1000 pag dating sa strong output mas malaki ang driver mas maganda displacement pero kahit 10 inches lang ng svs can be at par or better sa ibang brand. naalala ko a month ago pumasyal kami sa isang barkada dumadagundong sa garahe nya habang kumakain kami. sabi nya nag rereklamo yung kapitbahay kaya nag ayos sya ng bakod nasa living room ang set up nya mga 25 to 30 sqm kasama kitchen pero ang lakas pa din ng sub nya. akala ko malaki yun pala pb1000..

Maraming factors. Placement, room size, calibration, room treatment, source, etc.
Yung setup ko nga mas malakas ang kalabog sa loob ng cr pero syempre puro dagundong lang.

Tumpak! Kaya maganda nga sana pwede home audition para makumpara ng buyer ang performance. Yung feeling na ang ganda ganda ng tunog sa shop then pagsetup mo sa bahay ang masasabi mo lang ay, "Ay.....?! Ba't ganun?

walang mystery sa pb1000 or any other sub for that matter sa pananaw ko. madaming pagkakataon nagiging subjective din. but many factors can affect the performance nasabi na lahat sa mga previous posts. may times because malapit sa corner yung placement nagkaron ng dapdag lakas. yung layout ng lugar kung saan nakalagay yung set up pinakahuli panlasa ng nakikinig. may pinuntahan ako ng set up dalawang 13 inches at dalawang 15 inches ang sub pero yung bass nya swabe lang at sa ibang panlasa parang mahina considering na apat sya yung isang pinuntahan ko naman dalawang 12 inches parang ginigiba ng lindol yung room nya. yung apat na sub pasok sa panlasa nya yung tamang tama lang na bass yung dalawa pasok sa kanya yung madiin talaga.
dati naka us audio ako na sub pag nanuod na ako parang magigiba yung kwarto masaya ako.pero nung napag paliwanagan ako nagkaron ako ng paradigm shift nagpalit ako ng svs pb10 di kasing lakas bumayo ng us audio pero worlds apart sa ganda at kalidad ng tunog.

Most untrained ears prefer the heavy club type bass quantity over smooth quality bass that extends to 20hz or less. Bka si TS nakasanayan din yung boomboom bass which any decent calibration could and will not provide, kaya akala parang sobrang bitin ang bass.
