Title: Amplifier for spare speakers
Post by: HTPC on Dec 14, 2016 at 10:05 AM
Good morning po sa inyong lahat! Sorry for this question. I have and old and defective Samsung HT-X50 5.1 unit (please see attachment) nanghihinaqyang po kasi ako sa mga speakers nya. I would like to seek your advice kung ano po ang pwedeng mabili na amplifier sa mga speakers nya na naiwan. Maraming salamat po.

you first need to know the speakers' impedance and watts ratings.  I hope they're not in 3ohms.

there are AVRs that can drive 4ohms to 8ohms speakers...  just be easy on the volume, as AVR's may push your speakers hard if you hit the volume too high.

Unfortunately, they are 3 ohms.

I'm sorry to say... it's 3 ohms.

166 Watt - 3 Ohm - 5 channels ( surround )
170 Watt - 3 Ohm - 1 channels ( subwoofer )

are there any other types of amplifier? Thank you!

Kaya yan ng mga 4ohms stable na mga receivers. Except receivers don't have sub amp.

Most receivers can handle those small speakers. However it would be worthwhile to check their specs to be sure.

How about an Audioengine N22?  I'm in a similar situation as you - I have leftover unused speakers from a JBL SCS speaker set and I'm considering the Audioengine N22. They're sold locally by Dexterton.

i think cheaper HTiB ones they made them in 3-ohms, not sure why.

I previously have Logitec Z5500 and the satellites are in 8ohms..
